It's about a guy that was hated by everybody at school except for that popular transfer student girl that became his only friend. She got attacked by jealous guys and our MC saved her, but was stabbed and died shortly after arriving in the hospital. He was then transported to another world, and is looking for a way back so he can fulfill the promise to go to the amusment park with her. Note that shortly after his death, his body disappeared from the hospital (talk about trouble for the hospital nurses and doctors, but hope for the girl who though her beloved friend was gone).
And looks like the one who transported him to the other world has a terrible personnality.

Though I am wondering if Fox is going to pick up magic here, or just stick with the miasma and weapon skill grant fighting he has developed. Not like he really needs it, but he is kind of limited on the attack. Maybe some dark magic or necromancy to go with the reaper theme...

Also, I am getting kind of annoyed with Fox not making the most of his time skill. He wouldn't be in trouble so often if he remembered he could stop time for a few seconds, which is more than enough to do something nasty to his opponents. Even the pseudo-haste part of the ability he discovered when he first fought Shikabane would've been useful at several parts.

His eerie constitution has evolved into a full on fear aura that just instant kills weak things in range from shock. I'm wondering if the weapon grant version has gotten stronger as well...

He actually isn't extremist, at least in his reaction to his summon. They were planning to enslave him magically and use him as a weapon, so he was completely justified.

Where he is actually sketchy is his complete lack of remorse anywhere.

And that's very strange since he was described as a good natured person in the prologue.
His training with his grandfather isn't enough to explain the lack of bad feeling after killing humans for the first time.
Even the former japanese working for the empire and chasing him was wondering if the mc didn't already commit a crime back in japan.
It's one flaw I hold against the author.

I honestly feel the author made Fox too strong and now he's trying to make him struggle for story reasons leading to things like what you mentioned.

The type which you could call the polar opposite of op mcs with weak mcs that overcome great walls with a limited set of tools at their disposal. They tend to have the fault of the author never letting the mc develop any powers at all and instead continue being "weak" though.

Somewhat irritating after a while when thinking that the mc surpassed all these trials and pretty much gained nothing in terms of fighting from it.

Hard to say, since Fox is the type to cheerfully play along with people he considers enemies before killing or mind-screwing them. It could be just a set up for a death flag.

But then author will have to make up clever plot for every arc so the novel can have tension which is hard work (espc. for WN). This almost always end up with author resorting to stupid made-up drama to compensate his lack of research and/or creativity.

Because protagonists like that are harder to write. I'd personally like more MCs with their own personalities, and not 'hitting women is wrong,' 'power of friendship,' 'getting angry makes me stronger,' etc. I also tend to not like MCs that are 5 times stronger than the strongest thing in story, though.

One story that I can think of that has a decent length and not an OP protagonist is Re: Zero Kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikaktsu. It's a time loop story, but the MC is extremely weak, and although he uses tactics to solve his problems, I can't call him intelligent at all.
Every time he gets a power-up, it comes with overwhelming downside where he can't actually ever use it. And I don't mean pain or something stupid, I mean using it will probably make the situation worse and not actually help.
And sadly, while he considers himself the intellectual type in story, he's an idiot. When a loop starts, he rarely even realizes what kills him or how he dies, his conversation skills with anyone are literally painful to read because he never has anything to say aside from a generic response or grunt, and generally has nothing going for him aside from his Return by Death skill.

Don't get me wrong, I do consider it a good read though. Villains and side characters are well written, the plot is thought out, and it does generally only take the MC 3-4 deaths to solve a hopeless situation. I just wish the author would stop giving him fake power-ups and that the MC could actually hold a serious conversation without dying first to know how it goes beforehand.

If you want an intelligent and strategic MC that visibly improves skill-wise without ever stepping into overpowered territory, I 'd recommend Mother of Learning(not a Narou title, but still a web novel). That would pretty much fit your criteria perfectly.

There is this that I found earlier in the day: "Strongest at the weakest" (最弱にて最強の)
It's about a guy summoned in another world, like the Japan from the edo period, but with magic, elves and beastmen. He kept his cheat ability secret, and it's not a battle oriented cheat so he need to use his brain and use others well considering their skills.
I only read 7 chapters but I like it so far (and one of the charm in this transported story is that unlike most transported works, the country is japanese-like and not a mix a western countries, it's very refreshing)!!!

... ... I need to hold back a little with the reincarnation/transported stories; and go back a little to western novels with action-SF or action-thriller, things that were like Deception Point, Hellhole...

So far there isn't any romance at all except failed ones, and MC is stuck in a time loop so he isn't exactly out to test the waters. As for OP, definitely not. While Zorian has improved, a few years is not enough to take him to the point of being able to solve his problems. Even if he reached the peak of his abilities, there is no way he can win against some characters in a straight fight since he has an under-average mana supply. Luckily it's very rarely a straight fight, since Zorian is heading in the direction of being a master of preparation and dirty fighting.

Don't get me wrong, as I'm a big fan of not fighting like an idiot. It's self-defense, not a sport. More novels should adopt this.

Tavi was admittedly crazy awesome, but eventually he became OP as well. Jim Butcher's Harry Dresden character is more of the same.

Lots of fun interactions in the past few chapters, since they got Hokuto, he returns to visit the grave and comes across his dear old father, along with his older brother.

Father still holds a grudge over the exploding gold coins he was given years back and attempts to get more money out of Sirius, thinking that Sirius can't pay just because he doesn't want to, they start talking about taking Emerilia, Risu, and Hokuto as their slaves.

He basically gets totally pissed off after that and tortures his brother and father into unconsciousness.

They finally come to realize they're screwed when he pulls out his mantle from Elysion showing he holds some power there, at a level beyond the rural noble family his father is part of.


As a final blow after he leaves the mansion, he gets Gargan company to investigate the primary source of the families finances, and gives them plans for better devices to completely destroy their finances, then he sends a letter to Risu's sister about how some rural noble was planning to make her sister into his slave. Thus the King of the neighboring country now holds a grudge against them as well.

When I start a serie in one language, it's always disturbing when the following is only available in another language which (there are some things I must rediscover due to a lack of knowledge in vocabulary)

Then he encounter his first monster and defeat it by using magic (he instinctively felt the presence of magic in him and didn't hesitate to use it).
He decide to stay in the forest to study and improve his magic, and more importantly because there is no lack of preys for food and there is a known source of water nearby.
After 6 months he leave the forest to explore the new world he is in.

I have to say, on one hand it's interesting to see a nice protagonist with a somewhat crazy but at the same time rational personality. On the other, having a rational personality at the same time puts more emphasis on how regardless of how rational they are, they will still be inevitably be dragged along the rails of generic developments.

In this case, while it was nice that the protagonist knew to suspect the women he rescued, it felt a bit painful how developments inevitably still led to him teaming with them anyway. There's never an option to just ditch them and have them never appear again is there...

Tried this. Beginning was good but it got too wordy with less and less action soon after (which is fine if this was a drama novel, it's not) and I just can't believe the interaction MC did to the slaves he just saved, it's like the author base it on his interaction with his long time friends and the novel, up to ch. 17, focus way too much on it when they (the slaves) haven't even done something that would make me care for them. Since the rest of the novel probably won't change much I probably will drop this soon.

He accidentally overheard the plan of using the braves as tools for war, and tells to his classmates, but no one believes him, not even his buddies. With no knights wanted to join under him, Kazuki is disappointed and in his anger, resolved to gather his own knghts to wreck the plan. But... a mercenary wolfman who is an expert at eating without paying, assasin pantherwoman who is sharp-tongued, water dragonian priest who is better at destruction than healing, ...all he gather are members full of troubles!?

Summoning template. This one is good with protagonist develop without being too overpowered. Reminds me to Suikoden, and in current state, practically a successful one since you can feel the bond between the team. The expectation is strong in this one, recommended

Vert Jihha recollected the memories of his past life as high-school DQN Asakura Ryuuma when he reach 8 years-old. Aside from confusion that he felt about his identity, he is still as the same as old DQN he was. No cheat, no talent, no ambition, Vert only challenge is to survive in this world and find "her" again who also reincarnated to this world.

Looking at the original synopsis, the most that you will get from this are comedy story... and seriously, that's what really happen in the first few chapters: A brat who was a delinquent in his former life, he doesn't have any good points you can expect from him: not bright (as expected from delinquent?), zero magic talent (for all hard work he put, can only learn levitation magic, which is to make things float in the air), evasion from using blades (despite a delinquent), almost no ambition (at most his future as a farmer is secured), except his blessed environtment: kind parents who spoils him, childhood friend, at the same time a royalty with bright future who is madly in love with him, and their relationship is supported by the king, thqueen and everyone else, much to his dismay. The real stuff however, much more than just a love-comedy, his memories as Asakura Ryuuma trigger confusion to his identity and insecurities, to the point of thinking "no one know the true me", or "this life is fake" that, had not he met with the ramen guy, he would surely lose hope and eventually go crazy. With the revelation of another who are also like him, and the tragedy that happened (twice), draws a resolution of him to go on a journey, getting stronger and settled the line about him and his past, In a simple way, this is a Seinen themed story with Shounen progress added with love comedy as bonus, done in the right way. Okay, it shounen, and it ought to be so cliched with repetitive plot, but hey, you can't lie to yourself that you would still enjoy the hot-blooded fight scene. Not only that, this is also one of very few stories that demonstrates natural shuraba/catfight scene in a right dosage which is quite hard without making it too forced. If there is a flaws, there are several things that I could think of
- the instance where Vert confront the slave trader which is annoying. He boast that he is a rebel to rules, yet shrink right away when he knows that slavery is protected by law? Sure, I know it stupid to act rashly but that's no reason to back off like a chicken. And he still have the nerves to act "look I'm not interested in your business, but you've got to help with mine" like a jerk.
- Some of his actions are sometimes exaggeratingly a peace idiot (oh, how much I hate that stuff), dunno, maybe it's because I read too much R15 and R18 stuffs from narou, but the option of "not killing no matter what" is kind of disagreeable to me, since I know most of it will end in a bad way.
- His lack of confidence.
Yet you somehow know some of his feelings that you can't disagree with him, and thankfully, he develop albeit very slow, so I guess it is offsetted.

All in all, this is truly a betrayal to my expectation, totally recommended

A love-comedy fantasy type story, recommended

In a way, this one is a little bit surprising as. As expected, the story is presented in a cheerful atmosphere, due to protagonist Kurou being stupid and kind of childish, yet I couldn't swept the feeling that something dark will happen in the story. The part where Kurou put on a damned artifact which contain the hatred curse to offset his curse is a little bit disturbing (not pointing why he would wear that thing, obviously because he is stupid), due to the fact:
- rather than offsetting the cursed, it just ended in lessening the effect
- artifact cannot be taken off, and it's curse caused the wearer to be hated by the others
- artifact is made by sacrifing human souls.
and the most disturbing part is that he doesn't feel any remorse nor guilty conscience when wearing that thing, which means if he were told to destroy a world as a payment to dispel his curse, he would gladly do it.
Well, it just all speculation since it's still hard to see where the story will go with just current chapters, and sadly, the updates are irregular~ hopes it will still continues since I have expectation on this

Suppose I'll contribute some new titles some of you may be interested in. Loosely following Amatsunagi's format because why not, right? I won't actually be translating the summaries, just putting it into my own words from memory.

Satou Shiki had a miniscule ability to heal people and was involved in some slight religious incidents (like leading a small cult) because of it, and is one day randomly attacked and finds himself in fantasy town after getting stabbed, but perfectly fine.
Once there, he follows after a cleric by (male) instinct and works as a healer for several months after learning he's an amazing healer over there until said cleric gets tired of his sexual harassment and flexible work ethics and tosses him out (where the story starts). He, at a loss of what to do, decides to challenge the dungeon, but has no talent in fighting. So he stumbles across a cheap dark elf slave girl for sale that knows how to fight, except she had recently had her face mauled and was blind. He buys her, heals her up, and sets out to see what he can do.

I've actually been following this one for a long time, but never brought it up due to it being fairly laidback with no real developments, but it recently got published, so I figured why not bring it up.

The novel is essentially slice of life of the protagonist raising the loli dark elf and trying to manage his sex life (that he doesn't have) while remaining a cool master in her eyes. While he does get into fights in the dungeon, they're extremely short and clearly not the focus. The protagonist is cheat healer, but it's all he has going for him; he can't fight worth a damn. He casts healing spells that are considered archbishop class easily, but tries to avoid doing so to avoid attention from the church.

One thing I really like about this one in particular is, while there are no shocking or sudden developments, the author makes you know what the protagonist is thinking, why he's thinking it, and how he reaches the conclusion he does. He makes mistakes in judgment, tries to use to head to solve problems to varying success, and tries to be an overall good person due to the elf loli, but you can probably at least agree that it was reasonable he made that decision at the time. I consider his thought process refreshing compared to a lot of things I've been reading (giving the conclusion then explaining later, or just not explaining at all), and I would call his chains of logic perfectly reasonable.

Nishio Harutake walks through his door home and randomly finds himself somewhere he doesn't recognize. He struggles to survive (albeit in a comical manner), eventually goes on to join the military, trying to find his reason for existence in this new world full of reincarnated people.

This is a more serious title than compared to the first WN I mentioned (although the start is definitely mostly comedy) and the title doesn't start to make sense until a decent ways in.

The world the protag randomly finds himself is full of reincarnated people, people who were summoned, and people like himself who just outright appeared for no reason by what people can only assume is accident. The main difference is the former two generally have high physical capabilities and cheat abilities given them to by god when coming there, but the third type of people are as ordinary as can be. Though in Nishio's case, he's actually severely weak, to the point where they think a 4-year-old could beat him up.
The world isn't too far off technologically because while a good deal of its inhabitants are reincarnated people, most of them never got old enough in their first lives to learn advanced enough techniques to replicate it over there.
The story is a harem although not a really overbearing one. The protagonist starts off with a happy-go-lucky attitude which he ends up severely regretting, as well as regretting his mindset of refusing to kill when he has the chance.
All this makes him ponder why he's there and what he can hope to accomplish as he strives to improve to not suffer the same regrets in the future.

He gradually has been getting stronger as the series has been progressing, but he hasn't crossed over into cheat territory yet, and his powers don't come from nowhere, getting lucky, or some sort of emotional outburst. He gets a sudden power boost thanks to another cheat character, but it's still nowhere near enough and he still spends a good deal of his time training to slowly get physically stronger.

Overall, I like this one quite a bit. Interesting characters, and while not to the extent of the first WN I mentioned, the author keeps you up to date with what Nishio is thinking or feeling at the moment. I particularly like the main heroine's backstory simply from that I didn't see it coming when it did despite early hints in the story; I just didn't think it was going to be a serious story at all when I started it.
The heroines aren't little girls as well and it shows in their advances. Although they do still get in each others' ways.

As for 灰色の勇者は人外道を歩み続ける, I think the author has pacing issues. The prologue wasn't the best paced, but he ended the prologue on a cliffhanger yet he's doing a series of side stories that I quite frankly don't care about in the least. I'm tempted to remove the series from my follow list and just forget about it until it has a lot more story piled up.

I've also started and caught up on Mother of Learning and am now keenly aware of how slowly the author updates. Good story, though.

A 19 yo guy who played a VRMMO game of guns and modern warefare (his name in-game is Hunter, and he was strong) is transported in a different world in the body of his avatar with all his in-game abilities and equipments.
He is alone in a forest with an wooden cabin. He thinks that since there is a cabin there he will meet someone if he stay there, but he met nobody. After a year, sick of the loneliness, he leave the place in search for people.
After several days he find a hint of human presence, he is happy, but when he gets there, it's a burning village with plenty of corpses (all beastmen), and several soldiers (humans) on the verge of killing a 10yo girl (beastgirl)...
He wanted to find humans, he wanted company, and what he found is a massacre...
Our gamer will have to adjust to this world, use his in-game skill and equipment to fight, protect... and kill, even if he doesn't like it...

Lots of fun interactions in the past few chapters, since they got Hokuto, he returns to visit the grave and comes across his dear old father, along with his older brother.

Father still holds a grudge over the exploding gold coins he was given years back and attempts to get more money out of Sirius, thinking that Sirius can't pay just because he doesn't want to, they start talking about taking Emerilia, Risu, and Hokuto as their slaves.

He basically gets totally pissed off after that and tortures his brother and father into unconsciousness.

They finally come to realize they're screwed when he pulls out his mantle from Elysion showing he holds some power there, at a level beyond the rural noble family his father is part of.


As a final blow after he leaves the mansion, he gets Gargan company to investigate the primary source of the families finances, and gives them plans for better devices to completely destroy their finances, then he sends a letter to Risu's sister about how some rural noble was planning to make her sister into his slave. Thus the King of the neighboring country now holds a grudge against them as well.

Hokuto is a legendary wolf monster that they come across a few chapters prior. It's seen as something like an object of worship by the beast race clans, especially the silver wolf ones that Reusu and Emi are from.

When they go to do a job they come across him by chance, and Sirius starts getting all these flashbacks.

Hokuto is actually a puppy that he picked up in his original world when he was still studying under his teacher, it died and reincarnated then it ended up in that world as well. Thus, they meet again and Hokuto still recognizes him.

It's like a 2+ meter silver wolf that can rival Sirius in strength, and it basically becomes his new team mate/pet.


Before he set off on his journey after leaving school, he had a special carriage built made out of rare metals that cost him like half of his fortune and has all sorts of traps in it, basically a trailer house like carriage.

Though it was so heavy made out of rare metals that it needed a number of good horses to pull and they couldn't prepare them in time for the journey, that's why they took a job that the horse farm was having problems with, when they found Hokuto.


Some other monsters ended up killing all the horses, but since they find Hokuto he decides to pull the carriage for Sirius and them, so they basically have this armored carriage decked out being pulled by a 2m silver wolf.

Seriously, the amount of books released everyday(i.e web and light novels) seems like a bottomless sea. It's theoretically and practically out of the question to stay up to date. Well, as far as I can remember. The story is about Kugito Renya dying at the age of 94, meets up with a loli baba goddess who sends him to an alternate world to stop some resource draining due to "bad world design". Somewhere along the line, however, I don't know how Renya is supposed to stop the resource draining (either due to my terrible japanese or the text didn't explain clearly.)

The cheats that he gets are kinda lame because he is able to choose it from the get go (oi loli goddess, I want this abcdef skills, give me these skills), and he gets them just like that.

Well he gets sent there as a "lost person" (which is somehow recognized by the locals there are people like him who are lost), and he rescued two girls. I read up to around chapter 40+, where he's currently a F ranked adventurer (who incidentally defeats a demon, and a demon can wipe out a village, supposedly) doing a quest of "teaching students".

The teacher job is usually held by a 2nd or 3rd rate adventurers, not the cream of the crop adventurers, and sometimes students are capable of beating the teachers. He gets called in as a request by another acquaintance to "teach the students".

Since his skills stats are very high, especially in swordmanship back in Japan, he beats the arrogant students within a inch of their life, and tells them they should cut down on their snobbish behavior.

It's an okay series with an okay narrative which is picked up by a publisher. The start is really horrible though (Protagonist selecting his own cheats? Urgh.)

Read up till about 30 chapters. The MC's real name rarely comes up so I didn't take record his name down, but his alt name is Christ Eustacia. So one day he finds himself teleported into a dungeon and gaining the "status" ability. He's able to see stats in a RPG manner, but the world is harsh and isn't game like.

He nearly dies in the dungeon early stages (duh no weapons, no nothing), and one of the locals attack him for being naive (probably going to rob him or something). He has a strange passive skill (denoted with a [???] skill), which activates whenever he gets confused or mentally affected.

He will be instantly calm and ready whenever the ??? skill activates, but as a penalty, a [Confusion + 1.00] state is added to him. To put an example, [Poisoned +1.00] is enough to kill him with enough time. Up to the chapter 30+, he has a [Confusion + 8.XX] or so, and he's trying hard to keep this stat in check for fear of some crazy happenings (like going berserk or insane). He managed to deal with the initial problems with some help from a mysterious character who seemed to be also able to use the [status] skill.

He's a pretty careful character who teams up with Dia (a character who uses the masculine Ore and looks like a bishounen but he thinks Dia could be a girl).

This world is harsh and anything can happen. Even though he didn't really make any mistakes, he overdoes the monster hunting and attracted the dungeon's hidden boss guardians of lvl 10 and 20.

Lvl 10 boss (female girl) didn't participate, but lvl 20 (shadow humanoid creature) fought MC and Dia.

He cuts the shadow boss repeatedly after physically boosting himself with his trump card spell, but that fails because the boss regenerates himself.

MC then gets repeatedly hit with blind and other abnormal status, causing rapid deterioration to his mental status, which he repeatedly use the [???] skill by thinking the worst thoughts possible and forcefully activating it, with the result of extensive gain in [confusion] but with the effect of clearing his mind and abnormal mental status.

He desperately uses his next move, by casting ice magic, spending all his mana to 0. He grits his teeth and continue to supply the spell with his HP, burning it to less half of his HP.

That was certainly effective, but it wasn't enough to beat the boss, and Dia gets his/her right hand cut off as well as getting cut into two. Things really looked like it's game over, but Dia activates his/her passive skill which (I think) damaged her mana circuits permanently and cast 2 spells which restores her vitality so he/she doesn't die and brings MC's hp to full.

Shadow boss finally gets defeated, but after that Dia retires in a hospital and a new girl (MC buys a slave girl because of there's a rumored pervert checking her out and in a moment of weakness buys her) replaces her position. MC does mention that he's trying to find his/her right hand, but I'm not sure if dia's hand is going to get restored.

A pretty good read, but it sort of frustrates me because the plot goes in an oddly realistic progression like something in real life, but it is an event that ends up in a very annoying conclusion. There's some character growth but MC is a bad state right now. With him, it's so gloomy especially because of Dia's conclusion.

World teacher is kind of terrible in chapter 30-40 (probably why the ranking for it dropped pretty hard back then), was sort of passable in the early chapters, so if it's picked up, the middle chapters needs to be re-written.

Basically, I got tired of the forced drama. Alright, so the main heroine loses an arm (with no replacement), the second one is brainwashed to wanting to die readily and is also a 5 year old clone or something, and the third loses her eyesight after being possessed by a boss the MC kept trusting over and over for no reason. But all that's fine and dandy, I can deal with that.

I started getting annoyed when the MC himself got brainwashed. I trudged that painful part of the story, and when it started hinting that the MC's crew were actually reincarnations of some sort of crazies and that was mentally destroying them, I just stopped. I couldn't take any more of the inane drama.
Also, the published version changes his name to something else. "Christ" being too offensive or whatever, even though an easily recognizable name was supposed to be the entire point.

I really can't wait for the next chapter. It's interesting how Fox came up with a method of "quitting human." I thought for a while there he intended to intentionally trigger a miasma runaway to get a race-change, but instead he spam-levels and then throws away the limiter(status) by going back to a state in which it didn't exist. Hopefully turning him into a ??? cheat character. Kind of a gamble, since he can't get it back if it didn't work right, but actually better. Even the demon kings, as strong as they are, have limits imposed on them.

Finally read up to the latest chapter of 転生したらスライムだった件 (Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken). Really nice one with amusing MC though I sometimes question the selection of character highlights and the final arc was kind of a dreg. Though now we got to the "side story", it's getting interesting again.

Hope that the side story continue on for a long time since there are a lot of things the author can cover.

Final chapter of World Teacher volume 10 done, I wonder which direction it will go in the next volume, maybe some issues with D and Noel's village nobles, or awakening their daughter to the Sirius cult.

After whatever events happen in that village next seems like it will be an arc related to Emilia/Reusu and the wolf tribe, then I think the hidden elf village is near that area as well, so that will probably mix into the 10 year limit. Elf harem member~

Amusing seeing a healer MC and the comedy was pretty good, it wasn't a very deep series, though that is a good point in itself, a pretty light hearted series.

Tried Nidome Jinsei, it start slow but the twist is kinda interesting. Kinda bored with this template though (reincarnation -> "adventure" guild).
The 94 years old MC who "died in peace" turned out to be a Japan honorary national treasure of Sword Saint, who in his youth served as an assassin in China (930+ kill), then served in WW (3700+ kill) and retire to build dojo all around Japan until he's recognized as Sword Saint. Total body count when he died being 5800+ which mean he killed around thousand people more after WW)

Tried Slime Tensei Monogatari, it turned into full blown chuunibyou + fighting shounen dream later on lol. Got a bit too dramatized for me too.

Our resident slime turned out to be an inheritor of "Black Knight" Ozwald's power, of course the black knight also has a rival known as Georgius the White Knight and Oz meet him by chance when he took guildmaster's request to investigate a monster tournament. After this and that, they finally face each other and when Oz seemingly lost and got himself killed he suddenly (but of course) gain a "God System" skill. Oz finally succeed on killing George (btw, George is a she, full name Alma Georgius)... Nanto! She's actually not inherently as bad as everybody thought (except us as readers who saw this miles away) and I stopped reading by this time but from the flow it seems that Oz is going to inherit Alma title as Maou. Yep.

It was good when it's still like a lite re;monster...

I was actually fine with the whole brainwashing stuff and I felt the lead up to the closure of the arc was wonderful.

But after all that emphasis on the characters growing stronger both mentally and physically, they threw it right out of the window soon enough. They split them up again and even put a timeskip in between. God knows what it became like after that. I mean, where the hell did my character development go to? Does this author not know how to advance this story without some stupid drama splitting everyone up?

I noticed the time period of which the whole main heroine/protagonist cast is together is fairly short overall.

Regarding 二度目の人生を異世界で:
I think the protagonist of the story is pretty fun to follow because of the crazy, sadistic moments he occasionally shows here and there. Having a yandere(? not really sure if it can be classified a yandere or extreme loyalty) maid and a mad scientist being in the heroine cast helps a lot as well.

I have. Kind of generic, but it has potential. I like that the MC isn't really out for revenge, despite getting nearly murdered by his family. I also like that it isn't a "hide my power" thing. What I didn't like was the irrational antagonists and that it expanded into a harem too quickly. Felt like the author was just going for a checklist there. Also, the MC seems to be too overpowered. Seriously, what does he even need school for when he can already cast SSS-rank magic and has a contract? I can't imagine the library is that good.
It could go either way for me at this point.

Lily - Half fairy, half human. Obsessed with Kurono. She is usually in loli form, but when things get serious, she can switch to a more grown-up form. She is the first person that showed affection to Kurono ever since he came to this new world.

Fiona - Blue-haired magician. Obsessed with Kurono. Her 必殺技 is a giant, golden fireball. Fell in love with Kurono after a certain gory development in volume 13.

Next arc mind up as war in the kingdom once they return, a North Vs South like war in the kingdom, since the amount of power, money, and resources Veru has gained his hands on, including the leeway with the Empire.

The other nobles of the kingdom might start to see him as a real threat and push for the King to fight him. Having a mazoku on one side also adds to that.

Tereze has several favors going with Veru as well, for reminding him not to expose the formula for the limit steel and knowing about the mazoku.

The real fun starts with the post-war chapters next.

Honestly, I like the fact that it's mostly all Abel's doing, rather than it just being a case of so many asshole generic nobles. Abel is a real psychopath though, so I'm wondering how they are going to deal with the fallout of this.MC continues to be ridiculously overpowered, but I'm beginning to like this series. This is like the exact opposite of Sayonara Ryuusei, both in plot and writing which is simple and short. The excessive use of "!" got kinda annoying though, edit: oh it got a lot better on later chapter, now there's proper dialogue without drowning in exclamation.

I think I'm just going to give up on 灰色の勇者は人外道を歩み続ける. It's that one with the protagonist gets screwed over and summoned to a hell continent in a Cast Away situation(only much worse).

Anyway, it started well. I liked the concept of how he had to work for his powers even with the cheats he was given. Unfortunately, I don't think even the author really knew what he wanted to do with it once he got done with the prologue. So far we've had an additional prologue for the other 11 summoned heroes, which wasn't really long enough to make us care about them or all that interesting to begin with. Once that was done, we got some kind of episodic interlude deal during the MC's hermit life. Really, the readers just wanted to get to the actual story by that point.

It was supposed to switch over to some kind of weekly update, but that was 2 weeks ago so you see how that went.

MC is Ichika v2 with more annoying and LONG WINDED inner mind talk ("eh?") and the novel move at hilariously slow and shallow pace you can just read the title of the first 10 chapter and you won't be missing anything even if you don't actually read the chapter. From the impression seems it was common complain for the beginning but I'm not going to see if it improve, the character are all shallow and most girls MC see instantly take a liking to him, IS style.

Your usual tensei with cheat... or so it seems, the differences :
- MC is actually very calm mature composed and rational, no screaming like a kid.
- He got cheat from the god. A common cheat that's actually not big deal at all since there are a lot of people who has it in the world he's reincarnating; a talent for all magic attribute (including pet/familiar magic). It's not that good since most people fell into a trap of becoming a jack of all trade, master of none. The only actual cheat he got is his huge mana amount (which also already exist though rare).
- He has highly unusual stat and skill (martial art, very high physical and mental pain tolerance skill level) before he got called by the god, turn out that he led a very harsh life on earth and he has G rating in luck which usually mean that he should have died when he was a baby (he died on 39). So, many of his physical and mental strength is a fruit of his harsh life.
- There is no ultimate enemy/plot in the novel. The gods only want him to reincarnate n another world so they can open connection between world to supply magic from earth or something (since earth doesn't use magic). So the novel revolve mostly on MC living his life in fantasy world, if you may this is like a simulation game rather than RPG. Maybe it's closest to 3DS Fantasy Life (haven't played it yet).
- This novel is very warmish, if you seek tension or drama there's almost none here. The problem MC is facing is the problem people face in genereal life (in fantasy world at least), however the way he solve it is interesting for me.
- It may looks slow however the writing is concise and straight, dialogue-driven instead of long narrative and the author seldom repeat himself.
- Characters are all interesting though sometimes they may lack impact (i.e. nothing with wacky characteristic like on Mushoku).
- Lastly, Slime is almighty.

Better luck with comedy/slice of life works rather than action/adventure works (in the later they are either young-reincarnated and indecisive with women :rolleyes: or uninterested in having children because there is no time [too much action and adventure] to take care of them [Rudy has 1 of his children not recognising him as the father :( :heh: ]; or middle aged, single and not much hopefull when it comes to women, let alone thinking of having children) Children are for side characters that are friends with the protag or for the happy ending... So, I've been monitoring some sites that host Chinese translated LNs, and I've been seeing one series named 异世界狂想曲 that's being constantly updated (like every couple of days or so). I was a bit curious so I took a look, and it seems that it's been translated up to 12 volumes and going, and it seems to be a web novel.

Yes. Those are translations to Chinese. I generally find that an overwhelming number of light novels are translated to Chinese compared to English. Makes sense, given the similarities in the written language (most Kanji are practically identical to Chinese characters in meaning).

This story is pretty good IMO, you should try to ignore the gender bender and read it. The main is a rogue-mage-summoner ( remind me a lot of Ainz minus the whole final boss setting), He just "accidentally" use the cosmetic box to recreate his perfect female character and later be stuck inside of the game( The author use his appearance as a comic relief). But seriously tho, would you rather be stuck as an old man or a loli hahaha?

Just the fact that he/she uses washi already annoyed me enough, being a man in girl body screams "legal" yuri storyline and awkward "comedy" usually happen in gender bender; really don't wanna read that in novel form. It's not like I'm short on other novel to read anyway. :P

Another neet transported to another world themed fantasy, along with cheat. The differences :
- MC grow up, mentally and physically while retaining his not so powerful cheat early on and the pace is alright, maybe a bit verging on slow.
- MC is somewhere between a realistic coward and dependable, so he has his vulnerable moment and awesome one, though this is a bit scarce.
- He can apply his cheat to people who has minimum required loyalty to him, so his party member, who are all woman, end up getting powerful too. This is one of the few novel where the author succeed on getting other party member matter without derping the MC (too much).
- There's romance and harem, actual one.
He married all of his party member, and yes he also did it with all of them.
So there's no tired Japanese-style romance trope here.

This has LN which already got to volume 5, so it's considerably popular.

Ideal of pimp life is more interesting than I though!! I just hate the fact that the MC, who got time to prepare before definitly leaving for a different world, only took items of everyday convinience that won't last 3 years instead of things that could prove usefull for longer than that, like mechanics books, medecine books, science books, even the basic ones would be enough... some practical knowledge from earth that could make your life better in the other world... Of course it wouldn't be comparable to what our experts give us, but it would last longer than mere 3 years, especially when you know you will have kids... But no, the guy focused on short time "luxury"... And he is supposed to be an adult that was part of the regular working force of his small company...
He got a whole month to prepare, I would have printed some things about the history of mechanics and medecine, about some technical improvement that got a significant impact in the past...
THAT A THING I CAN'T FORGIVE ABOUT THAT MC!!! RRAAAAAARGH!!!!

Some time ago I had started "Dungeon +Harem +Master", I resumed it for a bit and noticed that it's always like this:
-MC meet a girl
-MC spend some time with the girl (and the girl grow to like him)
-Somebody betray someone else in their surrounding and it affect them
-MC fuck the girl (most of the time)
-Some enemy appear, the MC defeat them
-MC must move away and leave the girl (If he didn't fuck her, at least she is in love with him)
When That happens 3 times in a row it start to get boring... The chapters are long and there are more than a hundred of them, so if this patern last for too long I will drop it

Yes, but it goes in stages.
Once a certain point is passed with objective cleared, it sets a new "restart point".

The catch is, there's absolutely no way to go redo once that point is set, so any undesirable event that happened sticks. Which has caused much misery for the poor hero.

The only 18+ novel that I like on syosetu because it has a good setting and the protagonist is an utter douchebag with a good mind set

The novel starts off with the company that the protagonist works for going bankrupt, so the protagonist shuts himself in his room for a week doing whatever he wants, unaware that zombies are now everywhere

After getting bitten by a zombie and gaining immunity instead of being infected, he goes around manipulating people by abusing his immunity without letting others know

This often leads to misunderstandings that he's a decent guy for risking his life out there, but in actuality is total scum

The other nobles of the kingdom might start to see him as a real threat and push for the King to fight him. Having a mazoku on one side also adds to that.

Tereze has several favors going with Veru as well, for reminding him not to expose the formula for the limit steel and knowing about the mazoku.

Normally in genderbenders, they play up the character's original gender traits in order to highlight their new body via juxtaposition or contrast. In this, not so much.

It honestly doesn't read much like a genderbender at all. Most of the story reads just like he's an odd little girl. There are hardly any mentions of his real life self, and when they actually mention his identity as Danbulf, it's usually limited to fellow players as a joke. He actually has very 'thin' masculinity. If anything, his buddy the female sorceror sage(actually a guy) would make a better gender bender protagonist.

Most of the story reads like the journey of an odd and OP little girl travelling across the land on her mission. The narration always goes, 'Mira did, ________', and iirc, it even uses the term 'she'. Anyway, have ordered the books. More fuzichoco. Kukuku.

Legit, it's like all of that 'working young man' and 'this is a game' setting is just for convenience, and the author just wanted to write about a little girl that speaks like an old man and drinks apple au lait all the time (later on a berry au lait).

Maybe if he had menses then it'd be a bit more 'gender-bender-ey' like Alice Tale, but perhaps the character Mira is just too young for that.

It's a story of a bullied highschool boy who want to get revenge to guy who bullied him, by killing him. He called his bully into the mountain after digging hole to trap him, while hiding and preparing bamboo spear. But before he can get into an action, an earthquake happened.

After the earthquake stopped, he heard that someone fall through his hole trap, so he jumped from his hiding place thinking that the one who fell is his target, and pierced it many times with his bamboo spear. Then he realized that the one who fell inside the hole is not his target, but instead was an Orc. Then his consciousness transported into white room with a pc computer where he gets a level up message on its screen. He gets 2 skill points to spend and a list of skills to choose. He chose support magic and summon magic.

Basically, it's about a guy who decided to kill his bully because he could not take it anymore, consequences be damned. Their school was located in the middle of forest, where people who didn't fit with the society was thrown. And everything within their school circumferences was transported into another world.

The story is dark and grim. As most of the student didn't have any skill points to begin with, they were just ordinary students. So many were killed and raped to death by the orc army.

The MC is not OP, and there's no OP skill. They still suffer when fighting against their enemy and bosses. But As long as they leveled enough, even anyone can become strong. The MC is fortunate that he can kill the orc the first time and gained level and skills. He was also smart and able to defeat by thinking strategically. He mainly fight by commanding his summons and give support magic to his ally.

Up to the latest chapter, he have 3 girls he romantically involved with, one is his official girlfriend that use spear and healing magic (A pure and kindhearted girl, selfless), another is his girlfriend is best friend (Big breasted loli CMIIW, clumsy, super loyal) using sword and body skill (physical attacker), and the last one is a magician(An undeveloped loli, deadpan voice, pervert, have a ninja big brother). No one of them I thought as boring Heroine, each one had their one quirk. Also, each of the heroine is a middle schooler.

And, the girls (mostly were middle schoolers) that MC saved and were under his protections worshipped him as a Hero.

It start as a typical zombie apocalypse in a highschool, but with a fantasy/RPG twist (because later there are also goblins, orcs, dragons...)
The MC is a guy that isn't liked (because he likes to play games, don't talk much with other people, and mostly because he took the dislike of the girls in place of his pervert friend). He is thrilled that the world has become like a game. His "I don't harm girls no matter what, even if they are trying to kill me" is something I feel the author desperatly forced on him, and it piss me off. It becomes a bit too shounen with the cat eared enemy part and how he powered up. Also, it feels like a part of the survivors of the school lack half of their brain... The "romantic comedy" guys were a funny part of the novel :)

I was looking for "normal" zombie apocalypse novels (fuck, there are zombies, we don't know why or how it happened, but now we have to find food, shelter and survive) a bit like Highschool of the dead, but they are harder to find than I though...
I did find another one but the GT was hard to read, you could hardly make out who was who because the names changed too much, if it was a guy or a girl because sometimes it was he and sometimes it was she... and it wasn't updated for more than a year so...

As delinquent as he is, rather than walking the road down as a Hero, Velt walk the path as a Rebel. While I itched for more, I'm kind of scared since there possibility of NTR here T_T, dear god please don't let that happen!

Finished reading. There are a few complaints that i would like to make but the principal ones are :
1) Author can't into math, the guys should have various millions of gems according to the level up chart of the story but have to farm to get just a few thousands(exemple
1 lvl = 1 orc, 2° =2 , 3°=4, so at around lvl 20 it is already more than 1 million of stones they should have got)
2)The rest of the cast is literally useless. Instead of having them stopping at rank 5(for the lucky ones) he should have made them at least rank 7 for the skills.
3) They did not even try to see if killing summons gives power up experience
4) Power level of summons is badly done. In one occasion MC is grinding alone without problem with only his summons and later the wind summons have problem killing the archers when since the arrows can't hit them can easily kill them
Furthermore the -2 rank hurts a lot, for balance it should only be -1
5) Mana consumation of grant magic is too big, and the same for the units that can only be used as scouts and have 0 fighting power.

It is good but i hope author fixes a lot in the LN version. Art of LN seems good too.

At first I was wondering if I should just read it at the time or writing or follow the timeline numbers but I'm glad I followed the numbers. The arc 01/02 is more interesting than 03. But 03 and 04 seems to be the school arc which is really a little too long since its like 1 month after and 2 months after.

Hope that the author gets around to the time where he was in the other world and what he did there for two years. (For him to get so self-hurt whenever he sees a happy moment)

Yes I got confused myself. Seems the last hours trying to MTL things for the first time had their effects on my brain already. I was actually talking about the 2nd thing (the 1st sounds like either a Shoujo or Yuri plot to me). I mean it's like the ONE archtype of main love interest (I finally remembered the correct word!) that I have almost never seen yet in any jap media (aside from maybe outright H-stuff), be it anime, manga, LN (found very few here, not much attention by TLers) or VN. So I wanted to try see how it's looking on the Narou side of things.

In most cases where there is an M-heroine (which in harems usually gets pushed far into the background) it feels more like a 100% comedy character.

I wanted to see how it is, if that archtype is played straight for once.



BTW, I used to read that people had a high opinion of "translate aggregrate"... about half a year ago... is that outdated now?

Much better than I expected, especially the speech about what it means to be a hero was great.

The premise of the novel is a bit unique. Yes, the theme is tensei alternate world like most others.
The catch is... it's somewhat closer to actual concept of reincarnation in Buddhism, with cycle of karma.
Protagonist is bankrupt in karma. He hasn't done enough good deeds in his past 10 lives, and is doomed to live the life of tape-worms for the next 300 years.

He's given final chance to repay his debt. He has to "do good" and collect Merit points.
80% of points earned will go towards paying off his debt, and he's about 10 million points in debt. :heh:

He is sent to a fantasy world. All his hard work looks like act of charity to others. He asks no reward, no price, only to be praised for his generosity. (in order to gain merit points, others have to feel gratitude towards him) He looks like a dumb hypocrite to some, and hero to others. But from his POV it's all for selfish reasons.

No incredible hack powers. He's given slightly stronger than average body, and ability to "spend" his earned merit points to boost power, but at a very high point cost. He has to earn more than he spends. :heh:

Okay, it's a confused novel IMO, the MC is dying from monster dogs attack on the first few paragraphs and he realize that the world he's transported into is "cruel", is not a game, and that he is just as average as he was in his original world.

Okay cool. I guess the author want the kind of novel where the MC struggle...

But then he got saved by an older beautiful swordwoman out of nowhere. Then he worked as a cow caretaker for a few paragraphs and conveniently found out that his Japanese writing is considered as sacred text in the world, he then conveniently got hired by a high ranking official from the church because of that. So he got out of his problem pretty easily despite what the author wrote in the 1st chapter (this happened in 2nd chapter btw), it doesn't feel like he has actual hardship. Now the "cheat" things on the title seems to mean about his knowledge of the modern world being used to survive in the different world he's in but from what I skimmed it's really unbelievable since what kind of weapon a young freshman high schooler could possibly make? Why a bomb of course, but the process is abbreviated by "it was hard", It seems that later he could even make rocket launcher by the power of "nantoka". It's all so convenient I just can't suspend my disbelief.

In short it's like an inferior version of GunOta. At least in GunOta, the protagonist has initial qualification and went through many years of hardship.

She is reborn in a maiden game but this focuses more on the fantasy than the love. She doesn't have any special abilities or unique skills (besides being ruthless when she needs to be). I enjoyed the first version and am optimistic about this one.

I am a GT reader myself so I have learned to do mental translations. Sorry if that summary isn't helpful.

tl;dr story: The protagonist is the childhood friend of two "cheats", a perfect superman and a perfect superwoman. Popular with both men and women while the protagonist himself is a "common" person. Though for the two in question they would tell you otherwise.

And then one day they were summoned to another world, the protagonist insists he's only the attendant of the two and was rolled into the summon by accident, in result his name wasn't known throughout the world. Afterwards the queen who saw some sort of potential within him, made him suddenly set out on a journey with a maid only informing of his childhood friends after the fact.

And then antics ensue.

Pretty entertaining story so far, a mix of comedy with serious bits and a harem. Though as usual the protagonist isn't conscious of it.

The protagonist is fun to watch as he often unconsciously acts like a scum without understanding why people are staring at him coldly. In an example, when saving a woman he decided to use the woman as a weapon by swinging her around and smashing her head with the guards head to defeat them.

Also a merit is that it's another very long series with consistent updates. Not very far into yet but I'm hoping that since it's so long, the protagonist can actually get somewhere with his relationships. The cast is a little too big to keep track of though... feels like the women by the protagonists side gets frequently swapped here and there. They're never always together for a long time making development for one single heroine somewhat difficult.

Well, just think of something like Gintama if you've read the manga. The characters, especially the protagonist in particular, joke around for the most part making a light atmosphere but at the same time when shit hits the fan they're properly seriously dealing with things... for the most part anyway. For an example when it was revealed that they were summoned as sacrificial pawns to buy time against the demon king the protagonist stopped joking around
I think the side characters are pretty good for the most part though, but there's indeed a lot of them to remember and may be a little overwhelming when you've just started reading.

You'll remember their names eventually when they become relevant I guess though? However I should note that it's crucial to read the character setting pages. I ignore them normally but the author here sometimes omits descriptions of how a character looks and you only find out in those settings. Then he continues writing under the assumption that you've read it.

Protagonist isn't a perfect Mary Sue character at all, he's a very average guy. Not overly smart, not completely stupid, and has very normal morals expected of a modern man. Also very modest. He tries his best to fill the shoe of a messiah, helped by his nearly unlimited wealth.

This novel actually has been published already in paper as well. First two volumes out.

The protagonist trains himself a lot. And the more he trained, the bigger the desire he had to kill people. Being in modern age however, he suppressed that desire... until one day where he was summoned to another world.

If you ever wanted to see what happens if you had a protagonist that doesn't mind cutting down all of those obligatory arrogant/idiot/shady characters the moment they appear, then this story is for you.

For those that have read it though...
It seems Hifumi has married but I wonder if there's a chance for harem. Although I don't mind the craziness of his wife, I find the princess quite cute as well so it's hard to give up her.

The author is close to have enough free time to do daily updates (he spoke about this some days ago)..... Well, since the guy is writting now 異世界迷子の危険な帰り道, the serialization might not be "like" either of the two.


Speaking of, Kitsune confesses to Rishe♥♥ ...... "Confesses", as in; he clearly admits being the cause of her family and hometown burning down to crisp, and she didn't even knew his name at the time. Oh, Stella was introduced (thought since no name was given, she might be someone else cleverly disguised by the narrative? Time will tell)

Oh, and back in Earth, Kitsune was not only Shiori's next seat, but also his next door neighborg, she politely asked for them to commute together ♥ I must say that showing Shiori's past by parts instead of "in one blow", allows us to feel her presence more as a character, rather than thinking of her as a forgotten memory.

One possible ending for the first part finally started to appear with the end of the last arc.

If you just look at it simply the beast race + knights arc ended insanely fast with almost no apparent development.

Though if you throw in the fact that almost no kingdom humans, beast race, etc... so far has been able to pose any threat to the MC and the fact that they're adding sealing magic into the mix a possible answer comes up.

The MC might be teaching fighting methods and doing the setup for a variety of countries so they can get stronger on their own and pose a threat to him in the future, then he'll let himself be sealed away and after time passes he'll be unsealed then fight against the strengethened countries much later in time.

Going off the events so far I can somewhat see that becoming reality, though next up is the Elves/Mazoku area, finally some people who seem to be skilled at magic.

Either way, this series is pretty fun how he just cuts off flags the moment they appear with force or predicts them and then makes use of them for his own benefit.


Been a while since I posted here, I'll just throw these two series out, not sure if they've been suggested before, had a good time reading them, though they're both somewhat long.

Both have stats based systems built into the story and both of the MCs are pretty OP, though the first one is super slow paced, and the MC is pretty hetare.

The second one the MC is 45 years old when he dies in an accident along with 39 other people, they all end up reincarnated in a world with stats, and each one has a unique ability they're given.

The MC is like a businessman type who looks out for his coworkers, he's skilled at human relationships and the way they develop in the story. In terms of strength, he's cheat level overpowered compared to other humans, but the world of the story itself has like countless Gods/Demi-Gods in it, I think it has a sort of system like Re:Monster, but the MC is still somewhere on the upper end of the still-technically-human level.

There's a ton of side-stories which future each of the other 38 people who reincarnated with him as the story progresses, including ones who die really horrible deaths, like being eaten by orcs within a year after being reincarnated.

The MC doesn't really level much at all until 150-200+ chapters into the story, so stat system wise the development is slow, until they get to the labyrinth and level his cheat is mostly built around his MP and the identify ability he has.

The flow is pretty good though it's become one of my favorites.

Oh you read this, then can I ask whether he start falling for the blond village girl or the money hungry noble girl. He can't be dumb enough to fall for the gold digger can he? Don't tell me he didn't pick the best girl. Also you are right he does seem to get more stupid at the chapter I am at currently, also the way he spend his money is so freaky wasteful, I doubt it will last for long even if he have 40 million dollars.

He finds out about the noble girl and her greed, and confronts her.
He no longer falls for her act, but it's brought them together closer in friendship.

Much needed development really, she needed to be scolded to start having genuine feelings.

Thank you for the answer, so does he develop feeling of love for the village girl yet. Reading about them really make me cheer for her. I hope somehow she can get to his world someday maybe when she is pregnant with his child, which might allow her to pass the "gate".
