I'm surprised no one has talked about this series on here yet.
Story's Description: "Kōdo Ikusei Senior High School, a leading prestigious school with state-of-the-art facilities where nearly 100% of students go on to university or find employment. The students there have the freedom to wear any hairstyle and bring any personal effects they desire. Kōdo Ikusei is a paradise-like school, but the truth is that only the most superior of students receive favorable treatment.
The protagonist Kiyotaka Ayanokōji is a student of D-class, which is where the school dumps its “inferior” students in order to ridicule them. For a certain reason, Kiyotaka was careless on his entrance examination, and was put in D-class. After meeting Suzune Horikita and Kikyō Kushida, two other students in his class, Kiyotaka’s situation begins to change."
The school is based on a ranking system, which is quite an interesting take on the romcom school genre. And currently Confused Translations is translating the story into English.
Plus, one of the good things about this story is none of the girls (at least so far) are any type of dere archetype.

It's definitely one of the hottest series in MF right bow.
The reason why no one talks about it is because there's no translation for it like usual (just the manga adaptation which isn't capturing the attention of readers that well).
Too bad the best girl is in B-class lol.

The MC seems to be deliberately playing the "ordinary high school student" card. In fact, chapter 6 ended with the teacher calling him up because his scores were too average: perfect 50 in everything.

Yeah, which is why I'm saying that he's "playing" the card, not actually being one. Their homeroom teacher even confirmed it too: He managed tol solve a difficult problem while flunking on an easy one? Way too suspicious.
I believe that the reason the author used 50 is because it is the average for scores. 78 is a bit too high, though I do agree that he should have made more variations.
That said, Horikota threatening MC is hilarious.
I do have to agree, Horikata is like Yukino from "Oregairu", but she's much more harsh than her. . .

Actually, she isnt using her body to get what she wants. From her actions, she doesnt seem the type to sell her body. She only did that action from illustrations out of panic.

She acts like a nice girl in class but MC found out her secret. MC being lazy as he decides not to tell anyone as she has some evidence that can cause others to think he was trying to rape her. So she kinda threatens him to keep quiet ;although, i dont think MC will tell anyways.
In related news, MF bunko J posted several PV's for the series, I gotta say the seiyuu's did pretty good on one of the pv's, and they released an anime PV for the LN, which people mistakened for being an actually anime

Can you tell us how they looks like? I only knows that Horikita have long black hairwhile Kushida is short haired

Nice, anime adaptation! Volume 1 and 2 is more of a introductory story so it would be a slow start but it becomes so intense from v3 onwards. V5 ended with shocking turn of events such as Ayanokouji showing his true skill at the final event against Horikita's brother (Horikita's brother was a monster too and makes you understand how high his potential is compared to Horikita). I hope it is 2-cour because of it.
v3 is survivor island story. v4 is the event on the ship. And v5 is sports day (Sudou asking Horikita if he can call her by her first name if he becomes the VIP among the first years, and the result is....). Can't wait for v6 already. The two characters are new characters that hasnt appeared yet(unless the guy with glasses is Yukimura from D-class).

But I'd like to ask if the boys beside MC has their character development too? If they have zero development and only displayed in one dimensional while MC the only male has fair plot spotlight then that greatly disappointment.

I root for Ichinose (best synergy), but I think it will be either Horikita or maybe possibly Karuizawa based on later volumes. Nah, it's probably Horikita in the end as usual.

After reading volume 6, I have to say that I really enjoy the series overall.
One of the better aspects of this series is the relationships between the characters and the twisted mind battles during the special tests. It's fun how our MC has some common sense, but somehow it's kind of twisted in some weird ways. Volume 4 has some parts which shows a pretty dark side of the MC. I can't say I like him as a person, but I really appreciate how he makes the story interesting at least.
The one thing that irks me is the characterization of a certain student from the C-class. That student is almost like a plot device without any meaning other than to further the plot and an be enemy to our MC. He is to say, a lot less interesting than the other adversaries to me. Well, I hope our MC remember the promise during the end of volume 4...
I was a bit sceptical of Sudou in the beginning but he has developed into a rather interesting person along with Horikita. They really are growing on me as a couple. I used to think that Horikita would be paired up with MC, but now, I think that possibility is gone.
He is pretty nice to Sakura, but I can't see them as a pair. Kuzuda should just disappear already. Karuizawa is the most interesting of them and I somehow ended up liking her more than I thought.

Even her hatred towards Horikita is one-sided. The problem she caused in her previous school was a result of her own mistake so I can't even feel sympathy to her in the slightest. I was hoping for more penalty given to her tbh.

First for all regarding Karuizawa.
Karuizawa was introduced as Hirata's girlfriend from the beginning. Till volume 3 she was simply treated as Hirata's girlfriend who was quite a bitch to other students as she was standing at the top of hierarchy of D-class (so she was also a bitch or was looking down on Ayanokouji).
Her character was developed in volume 4. We find out about her past where she was bullied in middle-school to the degree that she has a scar on her body which will never disappear (possibly a scar from being stabbed). In order to not get bullied in this school she confronted Hirata. So they became a "acting couple' (Hirata is too kind due to the fact that he couldn't help his friend who was bullied in middle-school). Like usual there was a trial which would affect the class point. Basically A-class, B-class, C-class, and D-class were mixed into twelve separate groups. Each of the twelve groups were named after one of the Chinese Zodiacs. There's about 14 people in each group (3 to 4 people from each class). ...I'll explain more about the concept of this trial afterwards (maybe). Anyway the group Ayanokouji was placed in is the Rabbit group. Karuizawa, Yukimura (the guy with glasses), and Hakase (the fat otaku guy) were also in the same group. There were 3 girls from C-class who is a friend of someone who Karuizawa treated with badly. They wanted to make Karuizawa apology to their friend but she declined. The tension escalated to the point where the 3 C-class girls cornered Karuizawa. They started to realise that Karuizawa probably was bullied in middle-school. Ayanokouji and Yukimura was there and the bullying stops. But Karuizawa plays a big role in the trial and especially for Rabbit group. So Ayanokouji plot the 3 C-class girls to physically bully Karuizawa so he can control Karuizawa and blackmail the 3 C-class girls (no one knows that Ayanokouji was the schemer). Since then Karuizawa becomes Ayanokouji's 'pawn' and the reward she will get from it is to 'not get bullied at the school'.
For Kushida....
I'll just list the crimes she committed.
1.) Blackmailing Ayanokouji to keep her true personality a secret from others by threatening to tell the teachers that he raped her (happens in volume 1 and already covered in the manga).
2.) Exposing her 'role' in the trial to Ryuuen in volume 4.
3.) Leaking the sports participant list to C-class which would put D-class in even more dangerous situation and could have made D-class lose so much point (Will explain about the sports day maybe afterwards in detail). She did it so she could get Horikita get expelled by scheming a 'false incident' with C-class by making Horikita the villain.
4.) Again, leaking the test content to C-class in volume 6. Basically each of the class creates an test paper for a other class they choose (and vice-versa). Again, the result of this 'trial' would affect the class point.
So she has put D-class in so much danger by betraying them by scheming with C-class just so she could get Horikita expelled.
Luckily most of her scheme doesnt succeed due to either Ayanokouji or Horikita's action.
So the question is why she hates Horikita so much. Well...
Kushida was someone who thinks that each person needs something they need to be the best at. In her case it was 'gaining everyone's trust and having their secrets'. In middle-school she behaved and acted similar to how she currently does. She is smiling on the outside and gaining everyone's trust. But behind the scene she was complaining and insulting other students on a internet blog (her name was hidden). But one of her classmates saw the blog and by reading the content that student predicted it was Kushida. That student told the other classmates about that blog where Kushida was insulting them. They cornered Kushida. But Kushida revealed all of the secrets she knows. This caused a massive incident where the whole classmates were fighting against each other. So by the end of their middle-school her class wasnt able to function as a class. The teachers tried to hide to what caused this and the whole incident. But there were rumours of what happened.
Horikita went to the same school as Kushida. But Horikita was a loner who didnt care about others so she couldn't remember Kushida nor the rumour about her. But Kushida thinks different and assumes Horikita knows her past (Horikita comes to remember about the rumour she heard back in middle school in volume 6 because of Kushida's persistence and hate towards her). Hence the reason why she went to so much degree to betray D-class and tries to get Horikita expelled.
See? That's why I hate her so much. She's just too selfish.

Horikita went to the same school as Kushida. But Horikita was a loner who didnt care about others so she couldn't remember Kushida nor the rumour about her. But Kushida thinks different and assumes Horikita knows her past (Horikita comes to remember about the rumour she heard back in middle school in volume 6 because of Kushida's persistence and hate towards her). Hence the reason why she went to so much degree to betray D-class and tries to get Horikita expelled.
See? That's why I hate her so much. She's just too selfish.
Sounds like she needs to get a life.

Cannot say I'm that impressed with it to be honest. A good half of the volume spend to character ogling about girls which I say waste of the time. The latter half is also weak. The sense of conflict didn't feel very urgent and I don't feel much from it. My worst problem is what they want the MC to be. Is they want to make him hidden genius that want to lay low? If so it didn't seem to be like that either because he didn't seem pretty smart nor that he actually try to lay low considering his constant rambling about wanting a friend. What he is doing isn't really wow worthy either.

You are indeed right that the first volume is crap. It only starts getting good from V3 when the "games" start.
EDiT: ah well v2 is kinda good too, but it feels a bit badly paced.
I actually really hate sudou and the pervent boy gang, with the exception of hirata who genuinely seems like a cool guy, and ayanokouji who seems like a badass, who I still absolutely know nothing about because it seems like everyone giving spoilers talks about everyone EXCEPT ayanokouji... lol

Well the implication is there, but I don't think it is safe to pull the trigger on main LN being not Horikata end. I mean the author used 焦点を当てた which should be focus on, but the meaning is vague as ..... it could be focusing on their romance, it could even be focusing on their individual problem, it could be focusing on their interaction with friend..... I'm more interested in this supposed "happy end" which mean the true end is will have some problem.

Sigh if people are shipping Suzune X Suduo i may as well just ship Ayonokouji X Suduo as well. He is the one who saved him by sacrificing his points and by convincing Suzune. What spendid one-sided bromance right? Even if it was mainly to help out Suzune.
Even if Suduo did get better (can't read Japanese) later, he is quite the problematic character with very less redeeming qualities. Not to mention Suzune are Suduo are complete opposites. A relationship like that won't happen and even on the off-chance it does happen then there is 99% chance it won't last long.
Then again i am predicting based on the spoilers and what i have read myself. But Ayanokouji and Suzune's interactions are fun not to mention their issues can help each other grow.
On another note, anime is swapping around events too much and making things more confusing considering MC and Ichinose barely interacted before (in anime).

It didn't get revealed. Ayanokouji revealed the thing about Ichinose's enormous funds and made it as Ryuen's doing who made such accusation to her. Ichinose didn't reveal how she has so much fund and she said she would be willing to talk to the teachers about it since she didn't do anything illegal. But also wouldn't tell them how she obtained that money.
Ryuen also played along with Ayanokouji's scheme and acted like he was the one who caused the commotion regarding Ichinose's point. He knew it was the mastermind of class D who schemed this but he doesnt know who the mastermind is.
What Ayanokouji is capable of? Well, it seems like he has super knowledge and is able to adjust his scores to 50 for his test.
He has super physical ability since he's able to withstand Horikita's brother's super master-class martial arts and also compete with him evenly in speed. He may have greater strength than Sudou who has the scored the highest
strenth' in his class. Ayanokouji was dumb to ask Sudou what the average grip strength was and scored too high to place himself second in the class and not average lol. But Ayanokouji's background hasnt been revealed yet so he's still a mystery character. But more of his background may be revealed due to Alice.
If I think about it Ayanokouji has 'used' most of the girls in order to make his plan actually work lol. And those girls did go through 'suffering' because of it haha. So we do see several girls who has a feeling for him clearly such as Sakura and Satou. But he shows no such feelings at all to any of the girls. He only appears to admire such thing as 'love' and 'friendship' in his monologue but from my POV its more close of a robot who admires 'human emotion and feelings'. Though he did show a bit of human-side to Karuizawa and hence they are a popular pairing. And Karuizawa is showing bits of such thing.
But man. When v6 came out Kinugasa said v7 may come out in 2 months so in July.
But it didnt appear. And it wont be appearing in September either. So it wont be coming out in the 4-month cycle either. Damn. Want more. Yep, he said that in the afterword but MF bunko don't release any volume of their novels that has TV series until it's finished. They did the same with Re Zero and Asterisk

If I think about it Ayanokouji has 'used' most of the girls in order to make his plan actually work lol. And those girls did go through 'suffering' because of it haha. So we do see several girls who has a feeling for him clearly such as Sakura and Satou. But he shows no such feelings at all to any of the girls. He only appears to admire such thing as 'love' and 'friendship' in his monologue but from my POV its more close of a robot who admires 'human emotion and feelings'. Though he did show a bit of human-side to Karuizawa and hence they are a popular pairing. And Karuizawa is showing bits of such thing.

Am I the only one rooting for the MC x Karuizawa ship? After reading Vol.4 and 4.5 she is growing on me. Their chemistry is quite entertaining, a lot different from MC/Horikita, MC/Sakura etc.
I personally don't really like Horikita type of girls (hence I also ship everyone but Yukino in Oregairu, but seems like all my ships will sink there), so I hope MC x Karuizawa becomes a proper ship. She had a disadvantage of a late (proper) introduction at volume 4 (before that she was really meh) but seeing that she came third in the female popularity poll, just 1% behind Horikita, I think she might have chance.

Well, don't ever doubt yourself. I can see why you're a fan of the Karuizawa ship but I'm a fan of the Horikita ship and the news I've been hearing is kind of...distressing. But at this point, anything is possible I suppose.

He is basically the main antagonist throughout volume 3 and 4. (I'm not sure about volume 5 since I haven't read it yet; going to read in a few days.) He is portrayed as...a dictator-like leader of C-Class who treats his classmates as his slaves(?) and also really cunning and smart that even the leaders of A-class and B-class see him as a big threat.

I'm currently reading vol 6 using GG translation from Chinese raw. I think this is nothing like Oregairu. Especially Ayanokouji, how do people can say he is hachiman 2.0 =))

If things go smoothly in terms for the BD/DVD sales, along with the light novel boost and the source material getting to the 8th-10th novel, we might have a chance for a second season. But that's all hypothetical speculation with waaaay to many variables involved. Best bet to wait a year and see what this season did in terms of reception and sales.

My perception of the characters changed a lot this volume.
First of all, I think we all knew that Ayanokouji was incredibly OP as of volume 4. Now, it cannot be any clearer that he is OP after reading volume 5, despite possibly having someone that could match his OPness (Sakayanagi, for example.) I was really impressed how he dealt with Ryuuen's malicious tactics. Not much to say about MC, but it is interesting to see how his past is uncovered.
Other than the MC-kun,
- Horikita and Sudo, both of them had a massive character development in this volume, and now I see why Sudo x Horikita might be a thing (after all, Sudo became the only one she allowed to call her by her first name, Suzune). Before this volume, I wasn't really fond of this ship, since Sudo was just too problematic but I think I've changed my mind now. I like how Horikita 'opened' her mind to (not only Sudo) but cooperation in general.
- I already started liking Karuizawa from vol.4 but volume 5 made it even better. She can already tell that Ayanokouji wants to talk to her by sensing MC's eye gesture, and became the only one to call him by his first name (Kiyotaka) - this was a bit random but also a solid proof that she wants to be closer to him. She got a SS two in a row (vol.4 and 5) which pretty much confirms her feelings towards Ayanokouji, regardless of whether this is current or future.
- Kushida. Yes she is a bitch as everyone agrees here (I'd assume) and of course I hate her too. But I feel like she might be a fascinating antagonist and also want to know her past in her middle school, and why she hates Horikita so much. (Basically what happened in the middle school)
- Ryuuen. The main antagonist since volume 3 (or 2?). He is very hatable, and I think the author did a good job in making him that hatable. He is incredibly cunning and evil, but I have a feeling that he won't be the "final boss", especially after Sakayanagi's introduction.
- Something about Hirata and Ichinose is bothering me. It's revealed in vol4 that Hirata also had a dark past but it's not quite explained why he ended up in D-class, unlike Karuizawa (she missed a lot of classes in middle-school). It feels like..he will be in MC's way one day. He is also one of the few that knows MC's abilities to some extent so he might play a bigger role in the future.
I know that Ichinose is the most popular girl (by far) but she also has secrets, like most of the cast. The over two-million private points which was revealed in the anime - I heard the method behind it still hasn't been revealed as of volume 6. I hope to see more of her character development; she seems a bit too perfect for now.

From what I read oonline , it was something along the line of paying him back.
Ayano was sort of "created" by his father, and he despises the man. He want to defeat said man, and one of the ways he want it to be is for Ayano himself - the perffect creation - to be beaten.
Alice was someone that Ayano saved - she's still alive as a cripple and not dead because of his actions - and wanted to repay him. Alice wanted to repay him, thus she works to defeat him.

Character development is different from romantic development. True, Horikata, from now shall be abbreviated as Hori for my finger sake, show great development in vol 5 for reaching out to Sudou, point was, she was the one reaching out, this is entirely Hori development, she made a choice that was different from her previous self would choose, she admit the fact that she is incapable of doing it alone. So, the most important matter is, Is Sudou the absolute must in this case ???? Is Sudou the one who made her admit her weakness ??? no, not really, he was simply there, like other, and I'm pretty sure that many other in the class could replace Sudou role if they were substituted in his place. Sudou is present in her development, but ultimately, the change is initiated and caused by Hori from the beginning to the end, Sudou was simply a gear that was happened to be there rather than the absolute certain gear that cannot be replaced.
Sudou personality don't help him either, In fact, I'm pretty sure Sudou is not that popular within fanbase and I might carry some bias toward him since both violent and brainless are inciting an immediate no from me. But generally, I just don't seeing them as Romantic development, the change, the choice and ultimately the decision was from the start from Hori alone, the same goes for Sudou. Sudou got his development, but rather than intermingle with each other, Sudou and Hori's development was entirely exclusive and individualistic on their part. They were simply wasn't the ultimate point that link everything and simply there at the same end. Your male friend is different from your romantic interest.

So, the most important matter is, Is Sudou the absolute must in this case ???? Is Sudou the one who made her admit her weakness ??? no, not really, he was simply there, like other, and I'm pretty sure that many other in the class could replace Sudou role if they were substituted in his place. Sudou is present in her development, but ultimately, the change is initiated and caused by Hori from the beginning to the end, Sudou was simply a gear that was happened to be there rather than the absolute certain gear that cannot be replaced.
Sudou personality don't help him either, In fact, I'm pretty sure Sudou is not that popular within fanbase and I might carry some bias toward him since both violent and brainless are inciting an immediate no from me. But generally, I just don't seeing them as Romantic development, the change, the choice and ultimately the decision was from the start from Hori alone, the same goes for Sudou. Sudou got his development, but rather than intermingle with each other, Sudou and Hori's development was entirely exclusive and individualistic on their part. They were simply wasn't the ultimate point that link everything and simply there at the same end. Your male friend is different from your romantic interest.

I think this part is just personal opinion of mine but here goes. I don't really care who is MC in the type of story where relationship and character is main theme. What I really care is Who trigger or cause such development ???? Who is vital for such development ??? who made the decision and get development ??? The result from said development.
As said above, Sudou isn't as nearly as vital or the absolute cog that trigger and carry the development, Hori was herself. And I can't see any hint of romance from the person herself. I don't think many people here ship MC x Sakura though ?????

Man of culture I guess haha. To early to give shipping. For the Mc x karuizawa, its more like sympathy or master x servant relationship. For Mc x horikita, I don't really see them as a pair cuz Mc doesn't have a huge feelings for horikita(its more like hikigaya and yukino but hikigaya is more interested in iroha and yukino is interested in Hayama "Yes I see sudou as hayama, not on a harem way tho. I guess no shipping for now. Come on it's only vol 6 we're not even halfway of the story. There are still much more to tell.

I'm leaning more towards favoring Ichinose for him. I mean, she looks like a real sweetheart among them, although just as much as Sakura sometimes. She also appear as much as Sakura just gave me more incentive to ship Ichinose with Akanokouji, and a better alternative to Kushida (oh my god, why? All those fanservice just rubbed me wrong after she revealed her twisted Iroha-esque personality).
Oh and to be clear. Sakura airi is the best girl of the series lol.

Do it in the Amagami way. Honestly, I actually don't mind Karuizawa to be close with Ayanokouji, even though that would mean to ditch Hirata whom she was interested. Kushida, though... She would be the Ayatsuji-type.
And speaking of Sudou x Suzune, please don't count on it. There's no way she's interested on the hot-headed blockhead like him.

No one in Class D knows who he really is. Only Alice from Class A knows, since she was one of those White Room guinea pigs. But even if people finds out he's some kind of an intellectual "super soldier", they'll still accept him anyways. Hell, even fall in love much more.
For me, we may see how Vol 7 goes. Wouldn't be a surprise if Kushida actually has a bipolar personality disorder if she wasn't conscious of what her twisted side of personality was doing.

Seems like a lot of people are hating on Horikita x Sudou ship. Is it because Sudou is a really annoying guy who is violent and brainless? Or is it because Horikita should be shipped with MC?
I personally don't mind this ship after reading vol.5 since they both had a massive character development. Also, Sudou has been trying to get close to Horikita since vol.1...which I kinda sympathize (lol) for him. Maybe it is also because I view Horikita as another 'MC' not one of the "girls", so I don't really see a ship between the two MCs.
Mostly because I ship Horikita x MC, partially because I don't like Sudou. I just think Horikita x MC is better.

A chance for Kushida, though, seems... complicated at this rate, but people hates her to the gut because of her twisted, scheming side.
Then, the other potentially strong possibilities are Karuizawa, Ichinose & Sakura.

For what Akanokouji said about desiring to live a normal life, I think he genuinely mean it. Given his screwed up childhood life was mostly spent to be made a highly intelligent "super soldier", he really deserves it. For that, he's probably trying to cope up with the lost times when he should have lived differently. I mean, it's true to my case, when I spent little time on how to live like a normie & wants to make efforts at the fullest when I get into university. Anyway, he probably resent how he was brought up in the White Room & refuses to appease his father to show the society that he's made a "perfect" human like what his father wants - something he feels that anyone are had best not to know.
Well, I can think of the only catch is, if one girl he gets along can help him getting pass & overcome his White Room's training from hell conditioning, will likely be his girlfriend.
Keep Ichinose off the equation. I don't think she's the type who has a troubled past.

I personally favor Ichinose for him, by the longshot. I don't think she would mind who he is either. Not sure if Kazuiwara would accept him or not, unless she would want him as the badass she needs.
Kushida would feel deathly paranoid if she learned his true nature, kinda like how she's paranoid of Horikita, to think that she feared that either one knows too much. But she better not to cross Akanokouji if she's afraid of getting expelled after the shitshow she has created.
On the other hand, Horikita should at best stay as his partner. She don't want him to be his enemy.
Anyway, I'm merely concerning the Class D folks may have too much comfort for their own good.
I don't know about Ichinose. She seems too perfect and I don't even know why she is in Class B instead of A. Also she has zero romantic, or frankly, any development with MC and I guess that doesn't help.

Closest to MC is probably Karuizawa as of volume 6 (in terms of how MC uses her as a 'tool' and protecting her in return). Horikita is more of a cooperator for D-class' journey to A-class. Sakura...likes MC and MC probably treats her as a person, not a tool. Kushida...is probably furthest away tbh.
I personally think the anime version of MC is slightly different from the novel, since in the novel he actually sounds like a normal human being, due to various monologues so we get to know his feelings towards other girls.

The classes seems to function based on social hierarchy caste system similar to the one of the Indus civilization:
Class D is fill with mainly a mixed group of dull, undisciplined "outcasts" and socially inept folks, regardless of academic performances. Feels like curriculums and social track records matter more.
- Horikita supposedly able to get into Class A, but due to her anti-social behavior, she was placed into Class D
- Kushida could at least got into Class B, but placed into Class D mainly because of her created a serious case of fighting in middle school.
- Sakura case was maybe because of her "needless" hobby & self-esteem issue
- Akanokouji is the oddest case that "people had best not to know", even though he should have been in Class A with his full potential
Class C looks like mostly delinquints. It's baffling how those guys seem "brighter" than those in Class D.
Class B folks seem normal-ish. Although I personally think people shouldn't go too far with their conspiracy theory on Ichinose, since it's actually legal to stock up points like a safekeeper, something a treasurer normally do. Let's just say she's the foil to Kushida, but I do think Ichinose lack a few aspects to be an elitist in Class A. But hey, she don't seems to fit to be an elitist, it kills her character.
Class A is without a doubt an ideal elitist caste. Though I heard that it's divided by two factions - Katsuragi's (bald dude) & Arisu's

Well it doesn't just seem like a 100% pawn, as MC did hestitate deleting the birthday message Kei sent him (he normally deletes every message he received and sent). He did also bother remembering Kei's birthday thanks to that. I read a spoiler that at the end of volume 6, he said he will destroy whoever puts Kei in danger (not sure if this is because he doesnt want to lose his pawn or he just wants to protect her).
And oh yeah, Sakura also calls MC by his first name, not only Kei (vol.6)

I honestly think Kei looks attractive & probably goes well with Kiyotaka by the first sight I see her. It actually a good to know that he don't see everyone like that.
But, I don't like how others call Kei as literally being his... whore. Frankly, it's a nasty thing to say like this. Don't get me wrong... it genuinely feels bad for her to be treated such a way. Even he would genuinely feel the same after heard of get bullied in the past.

Mu? The only characters who treat Karuizawa as a slut were Manabe and her group and it was only in vol 4 when Karuizawa was about to be bullied by them.

Yep. Ichinose is very capable and fairly independent compared to how usually characters of her type are. It's really refreshing. Often those super nice characters are childish, naive, hopeless and overall annyoing and hence I don't root for them, but in this series she's hands down my favorite.

I should say "well played" to the animators for making several fanservice shots of Kushida, till the fanservice of hers rubbed me in the wrong way when she revealed her twisted personality.
Speaking of which, after Vol 6, I think Kushida might be afraid of getting expelled, right after when the shitshow she created has gotten most Class D folks on the edge against her. She barely learned from her past mistake, especially when her paranoia on Horikita got over herself.
Unless if it later found out she has a personality dissonance that she wasn't aware of what her other self was doing, with Kushida got herself in deep, she might tremble with despair when people beginning to question her.

In Vol 6, Kushida has been discovered scheming with Class C to create a ruckus on Class D, literally sold Class D out & driven down into turmoil. All she wanted was to get Horikita expelled out with paranoia just because she feared Horikita might know too much about her since they both were in the same middle school, even though Horikita showed no interest on people at all.
Back then, Kushida had the same attitude like now back in middle school. Being friendly in the public, but being detestable in secret. She had an anonymous blog ranting about anything she don't like. Until at one point of time, one of her classmates discovered the blogger is in fact her, he/she called her out. Then, things started getting nasty & broke up into a fight. It has become a serious disciplinary case that got her into Class D.
Still need to know what Vol 7 will be about. We yet to find out if she do has some kind of a personality disorder like if she unable to reflect the mistake she has done or either personality wasn't conscious of each other whenever the switch was flipped.

Tbf it's more like, since the other guys are kinda meh and not likable, he is there. (At least for me)
For me, he is one of the 'normal' guys in this novel...well, compared to people like Ryuuen, Kouenji etc. Sudou group guys are not that likable either
Also he is friends with Ayanokouji (after 4.5)

I actually would ranked Kouenji as top 3 on my list because he is the only guy whom actually has unique personality so far i seen in anime beside Ayakonouji.

And no, they are more like rivals/enemies. The A class is divided in 2 factions, Sakayanagi Faction and Katsuragi faction.

Which means you call her Alice or Arisu it the same...
but 有栖 (arisu) has different meaning....

As you wish. If you're a fan of twisted romance, you may go for Kushida Kikyou - another main.
But though, honestly, others have stronger potential than either main heroines.

it was explained a few pages ago though :heh: generally, defeat Akanokouji mean defeat his father, who create him
Kushida is plain antagonist at this point rather than protag though,

No, not necessarily. Esepcially since, this novel has more attractive side-characters, as proven by the Japanese twitter poll.
