Would anyone know if those who make the games allow the CG to be ripped and uploaded for download?

Nope, no sirree, they don't like it. That's part of the selling point of eroges.

Arse Hunter. Does that count? :D

By the way, why are all japanese ero-games like barely interactive CG sets? I'd like to see more of the above mentioned games that sport a good idea that makes otherwise bad game interesting.

Leaf has released a short trailer for their upcoming game 君が呼ぶ、メギドの丘で (Kimi ga yobu, Megido no oka de).

Download (http://leaf.aquaplus.jp/product/megiddo/special.html)
Nicovideo (http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm4602453)

Is it just me or does the BGM sound really good?

At least I know what game I'm going to buy in November. But I'm beginning to wonder what Leaf really wants to create, Erogames or console RPGs...

There's 2D traditional ADV parts as well it seems, so that's where we'll most likely see h-scenes.

And that game had Half-Life 2 like loading times on my laptop. Although to be fair, although my desktop is more powerful (which I ran HL2 on), it has only 1GB of RAM, compared to my laptop's 2GB.

I'm guessing the non-combat/roaming scenes will be in traditional 2D.

BTW, the main character needs a better run animation.

Wordplay asked, "...why are all japanese ero-games like barely interactive CG sets?"

If you want to find out how visual novels became prevalent, as well as one of the main forms of H games, a little research can help. Wikipedia has an entry here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eroge A few years ago, a person called wrote a history on eroge. I can't find the article at the moment, but a similar one exists at Heisei Democracy (NSFW): heiseidemocracy.com/2006/08/09/pure-love-renaissance-the-kanon-saga-begins

Thankfully, there is more than choose your own adventures. Complex simulations are rare -- I don't know of any adult time management/dating games made in the last decade which are meant to be as deep as Tokimeki Memorial. But there are some lightweight adult simulations such as the Pia Carrot series.

If you look on certain other forums, you can learn about 3d porn games in which the player character can move freely and interact with other 3d characters.

Finally, be sure to read reviews at animetric.com (partially NSFW), hentaineko.com (mostly NSFW) and http://www.erogereview.com Their reviews range from simple visual novels to experimental games, RPGs, and puzzle games.

Well, the other reason is that a lot of them are novels first, games second. Rather than thinking of them as "barely interactive games", it's better to think of them as "multimedia-enhanced books". Then it all makes more sense. The main reason it's labelled a "game" is because it's sold the way games are sold. That isn't to say there aren't a lot of hybrids, as was mentioned, but I think the main reason people get into this weird confusion about it (like, "why don't they make them 'real games'?") is just because there's not really much else like it.

So, I'm going to go back in time a bit and post about two, in my opinion, good games: Fortune Arterial and HoneyComing.

I played all 5 main paths in Fortune Arterial when the game first came out, and quite liked it, but for whatever reason I got distracted and never went back to play the True Story. Finally got back to it now, and wanted to give some comments about it.

First off, as everyone said, the cool thing about this ending is how it sort of ties all the individual story paths together into one cohesive tale. It's the "True Story" for a reason, and you can tell that the other stories in the game were written with this larger story in mind. In particular, this path features some really great revelations that make for some awesome "oh shit..." moments. In particular, the true source of one the character's memory loss, the true parents of one of the main heroines, and the true nature of one of the character's relation to the vampires. These were just awesome, well-timed, and very well played out. I also liked the overall story with Kaya and the reason for her sort of "villainous" ways. I liked how the story wove a tragic tale that tied everything together well. The ending was great.

The only problem I had with the whole thing, really, is the way they developed the story from a storytelling perspective. It felt too guided. Basically, for 5+ hours of story, Kouhei and Erika go from one person to another to ask them questions about unrevealed aspects of the story, and they, through narrative, reveal one piece of the story. Erika and Kouhei reel in the shock from that one revelation for a bit, and then it's on to the next person who reveals yet another piece, and so on. Oftentimes, it's back to the same person again. And we even got a "I can't tell you that the way you are right now", when you know that just means you're going to go back and see them later and then they will tell you. It's like an RPG game where the NPCs are only programmed to say certain things after you cross certain checkpoints! Even the main flashback had to get split into two chunks for some reason -- "huh? That's all that's written? Oh I guess I need the other stone..." :heh: Of course, I understand why they did this: they were trying to interweave the revelations with the progress of Kouhei and Erika's relationship so that the two would come together in the end at the right time. And in that sense, I have to admit, it worked out well in the end. Plus, they didn't want to give away all the surprises all in one chunk. But at the same time, I felt like they were dragging it out a bit more than they needed to, and each revelation just made me more eager to figure out how it was all going to end. So I guess maybe I just got impatient. :heh:

Also, I have to say, based on the way Erika's original story ended (the sort of "Normal End"), I knew going into the True Ending that they were going to have to find another way. So as they were building up all the drama, they really had only three choices, and only two of them would have allowed them to stay together. They already used up one of the two, so I sort of deduced (not very difficult, of course) that they were going down that path. Basically, the entire True Ending was, in a way, there to justify that ending so it didn't seem like those infamous "Deus ex machina" endings everyone dreads. And in that sense, I have to say it worked out well. The way the ending was explained was perfectly logical with lots of build-up and lead-in, so it felt like a pretty natural course.

Anyway, all in all, it was very good end and a great way to round out the story. I particularly liked how, during the closing credits, they gave a little epilogue blurb for each of the other heroines so you can see what happened next -- a very nice touch. Also, the music, especially in the True Story, was really excellent and the finale piece was beautiful and memorable. It just felt like they really nailed it as a cohesive whole, so I'd recommend the game to, really, anyone. Be sure to play all 5 paths and the true ending to get full effect of the story.

(And, by the way, my personal favourite heroine was Haruna. I'm a total sucker for the girl-next-door type. :heh: That being said, all of the heroines were very good and memorable.)So, the second game I wanted to finally get around to writing about, especially with FairlyLife only a few weeks away, is Hook's 2007 showpiece, HoneyComing. I played this game a few months ago after it sat on my shelf for a while, suffering under my mountainous backlog. Anyway, wasn't sure what to expect going into it (although it looked interesting from the manga), but it ended up being one of my all-time favourites.

I'll cut right to the chase here. The thing that makes this game so great, to me, is the amount of epilogue. You hit the ending credits (which always hit at a logical end point in the story in terms of drama and flow), and then rather than just a single little epilogue scene, you have 2-to-3 more hours of story of what happens next. If you're playing the game for the romance aspect, this is awesome because you get to watch the real growth of the relationship and you know that the "real hurdle" is already behind you. That isn't to say that some of the epilogues don't have their share of little drama, but it's mostly about how the couple goes from a resolve to be together to a resolve to stay together. And that's cute, sweet, romantic, and all that other mushy stuff that makes me want to play these games in the first place. :heh:

Otherwise, the thing that was surprisingly fun in this game was the way that the story followed a specific set of events and allowed you, in the various path, to experience that same event with a different heroine. I'm referring, of course, to the love lessons that are the central (if a bit silly) main focus on the story. It gives it sort of more of a "love simulation" sort of feel. Some of the events that go really well with one heroine (like anything lovey-dovey with Clair), end up as total disasters with another (like the same with either Asahi or Marino :heh:). The rest of the stories sort of get framed around these main milestone events, which gives the story a fairly cohesive feel and structure, and also helps drive home the key points of each heroine's personality.

In terms of the heroine routes, I think they were all pretty good, but it mostly comes down to personal preference in terms of which heroine's personality you like best. The stories are pretty well matched to the personality type, so if you like the personality, you'll probably like the story. I will say this, though -- the story that surprised me the most was Marino's story. The tsundere archetypes are sort of neutral for me (get pretty bored/annoyed by the tsuntsun, typically), but the way they really fleshed out Marino's background and gave her a real reason for the attitude was sort of surprising and refreshing. She ended up being my favourite heroine of the game, much to my surprise, and due entirely to the story. It actually sort of reminded me in some ways of the old kid's story "The Paper Bag Princess" in a few different ways. Anyway, if nothing else, that's a particular heroine's story I'd recommend -- it's definitely campy and silly in some ways (the "prince" and his maid are a classic comedy duo), but it's got a lot of heart. Other stories I personally liked were Clair and Asahi. My only problem with Mio's story is that I felt it was a bit lacking in tension (a bit too easy given the circumstances?) and Yuma's story was actually not bad, but I'm just not really into that archetype all that much (sort of "strong silent type" characters).

The last comment I want to make is that, if you're at all able, you should really check out the pre-order bonus Drama CDs. The problem is, of course, that these are almost impossible to get, and, I'm sad to admit, impossible to get legally at this point, since they were never sold separately. But, if you get to listen to them somehow, I think you'll find that they really bring out the charm of the HoneyComing story and characters (even if the situation is, as usual, very over-the-top). There's one for each of the main heroines. There's also a separate Drama CD that was released more recently, and that focuses on Ichigo-sensei, who'll be one of the new heroines in the coming PS2 adaptation. Another drama CD is apparently coming soon.So anyway, both of these games would be highly recommended to anyone looking for the romantic visual novel sorts of stories. Fortune Arterial is a bit higher in action/drama (due to its theme/subject matter), while HoneyComing is edging a bit more towards romantic comedy. But both are games with excellent production values that could easily stand on their own in terms of story content. They're top-sellers for a reason! :heh:

Fortune Arterial is currently available for PC in its 18+ incarnation, but I expect the PS2 version will be announced shortly. The PS2 adaptation of HoneyComing, called SweetHoneyComing, is already on track for release in early 2009. As I mentioned earlier, Hook's next work, FairlyLife, is due on October 10th.

I have no problem being in debt to myself. My problem is that I currently lack a credit card, and as such am putting my purchases on my mother's card. It's billed as a "life revenge ADV," which basically means the amnesiac main character keeps dying and then going back to start over and try not to get killed off again (plus figure out why he lost his memories, where he came from, what the heck this world where he's ended up is, etc). The three main heroines (the witches) are required to fight these gigantic, invisible beings called Zodiac to save the world and thus have very little choice about how to live their lives. For all that, there looks to be an emphasis on the quirky comedy/school element, and I'm excited about how this will synthesize with the colorful, stunning, almost pop-art-esque artwork. The seiyuu cast also sounds great.

Sorry, that was pretty vague, but it's been ages since I played the first demo, and I tend to try not to find out too much about games before I start them for real. :heh: Am hoping to pick up my copy on Monday.

Supreme Candy's protagonist is pretty interesting. He's a very gentle-seeming guy, but he's got some....... weird edges. :p

Also Yumine is another waifu candidate for Hemi. She looks the best out of all the heroines (imo), is sharp-witted but gentle, is a fan of quirky things like UFOs, takes unexpected pictures of people, and loves to tease and play around with the protagonist. :)

The protagonist gets some inadvertant dirty thoughts about her and instead of getting mad, Yumine teases and prods him to spill his thoughts, and at the very end makes a sly comment that he's "surprisingly well-equipped" after spotting his boner. :heh:

She's also the first heroine you see the protagonist have major interactions with, so that's another plus.

EDIT: Another nice plus is,

She plays ero-games. :p

Why do schools have to be violently crowbarred into everything these days ;_;

Well I never played the demo so I didn't know what to expect but...
I really don't see why this eroge was labeled "epic".
I haven't really played much of it but so far it seems very bland.
Though Nitro+ has made another hit with Sumaga.
It reminds me of Hello world with how the story is presented.

Though. I'm currently replaying Itsusora and another G-ame(not telling), so their stories are fresh in my mind while translating them.

I want some more free time for the new eroge that's come out.

You're helping out with the G Senjou no Maoi translation right?

Also, I wouldn't say that Twinkle Crusaders is "epic". That would be a misnomer. While it's gameplay is highly fun and engaging, and the ADV portions are very amusing and entertaining, it's hardly as epic as, say, G Senjou no Maou or Itsusora (but the latter is strictly my personal opinion). It's very very fun and since I'm in the mood for some wacky school stories and hijinks, I'm all for it, but it's not epic-level quality. It's a personal favorite though!

I guess you're referring to this

!!c7SuVV0WfC/ 09/28/08(Sun)18:48 No.1383234
>>1383223
I don't mind translating, but G-Senjou no Maou is filled with LooseBoy's elegant-but-sometimes-difficult-to-understand prose, and I'm left guessing half the time whether I've expressed something accurately. So while I'm slowly getting through it by asking native speakers of the language etc. it would be much faster if someone better took over.

Anonymous 09/28/08(Sun)18:56 No.1383248

I'd be happy to help with the translation but I'm busy with Itsusora at the moment. Why not make it a wiki project?

I would help out with that translation if it became a wiki project. (Which, Asceai might make it into) but no that wasn't the other game I was referring to.
It does start with a G though...

Normally I'd complain too, but the school element has been close to nonexistent in this company's past works, so I think it'll be kind of interesting to see their take on it. On a related note, I got my copy this afternoon and am currently installing it. :D

Because that tends to attract more attention.

As we know, NitroPlus games haven't sold very well lately (despite consistent critical acclaim.....unless something changes, their time in the spotlight is over), so I'm not surprised that they're drawing on more popular elements. However, we'll have to see if this becomes a trend for the company.

I'm playing Twinkle Crusaders now to see whether it lives up to the hype.

So far it's a lot of humor and high-energy character hijinks much like how it was in Princess Witches, Lillian/Pajamas-soft's trademark (perhaps), but if this game is anything like Princess Witches it'll turn serious real fast after the second OP (which I've resisted the urge to view from the game's folder). Let's see if it actually does that.

Twinkle Crusaders does seem epic in size though. Navigate the menu screen and you can come upon a section that lets you replay any of the battles you encounter. There's three and a half screen-worths of them. That's a lot of battles there. The trophy room also has two screens-worth.

Everyone with Twinkle Crusaders on their computer, load up the game now!

It turns out that the game has a hidden function: on a character's real-word birthdate you get a little birthday gift sequence with that character. Today's minor character Shio's birthday, so when I loaded up the game I suddenly got this scene with her!

I can imagine that every character has one for their birthdays. Interesting set of easter eggs Lillian has put into the game. :)

Oh and there are apparently multiple scenes for each character cause I opened my game a second time and got a different Shio scene.

I have just finished Makura-soft's new game: Supreme Candy. m3rryweather has been raving about the game as well on his blog, "Verbal Rubbish" so drop by there if you want info and impressions on the game as well.

This game is a fine, fine piece of work. All the characters are at a minimum good, and the good characters are absolutely lovable, and the main character is many shades and levels better than the vast majority of erogame protagonists. He has depth, history, and you can see why he acts the way he does or feels the way he does, on top of being very funny at times. He becomes quite awesome too at points in the game.

With a title like Supreme Candy, and the initial impression of it being a highschool romance, you might think it's a light-hearted fun game, but that's far from the truth. The plot is deep, intricate, and there are reasons why things happen and most of it is character-driven so there aren't many plot devices. At times it can get pretty emotional, and overall it's a testament to the saying that you can't judge a book by its cover.

The art is somewhat stylized but good. The music is excellent. This game fails at... pretty much nothing at all. Supreme Candy is definetly one of the winners of this season, if not this year.

So go and play it.

Seinarukana - The Spirit of Eternity Sword 2 is definitely my favourite. Katima Aigias....*melting.....*

I also really like Crescendo. Snow Drop and Casual Romance Club are okay in patches but really weak in others. Yume Miru Kusuri was good on the 1st playthrough in but in hindsight, I'm not that into it anymore. And I can understand why The Sagara Family is the biggest seeling ero-game in English form (except for when Lightning Warrior Raidy outsells it, if ti hasn't already), but a lot of it seemed too easy and cruel at times. I feel very guilty about that game in hindsight. I still really like Sanae and her story. But the others...so much guilt.

Keeping an eye out for Princess Waltz when it comes out. Will eventually try Lightning Warrior Raidy as well.

Normally, I would focus on story and gameplay. But after seeing over a hundred CGs from it, I figured there wasn't one. ZyX aren't exactly the type of company to flesh out a proper story in their games, or give some women with some spark/backbone. Their method is 'you get sex either way, just sit back and enjoy.' So I'd never expect much from a ZyX game. Pity, since their artists are actually decent.

Either of them are fine to start with as long as you do Yuuri's route last. Once you finish with all the main heroines, you unlock Jyakko's route. Finish that, and you get the final route.

EDIT: The walkthrough site "Spreing Field" is the one I used, and it has save points to help you get through the routes faster. As far as I know, aside from new choices that pop up as new heroines are unlocked, there are no new scenes or dialogue so you don't have to play through the whole common route over again each time.

Finally full-comped Sumaga. <3 Good lord, what a long game. I actually think it would've been better off without the individual routes for the witches, especially since you can go right to the true end without touching them... they sort of take away from the impact of the initial story IMO. Still, this game was a stunningly ambitious endeavor, and for the most part I think they really pulled it off. The lack of a proper Arided route does kind of make me rage, though. LOL. I've never seen anyone whose fanboyism goes all out like Hemi ever does. Is that true that m3rry doesn't know any japanese..? I get the impression that he would at least understand it a little, just like I did.

Hoshi-Uta delayed to December..? That means less expected release for this month, and I can reduce my backlog a little more. :)

Yeah m3rry just uses ATLAS to play his eroges I think that's what Hemi does as well.

HEY THAT'S MAI WAIFU YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT THERE! Besides, you like the pic, admit it! It's just so hot and sexy!

There's also Eroge Review, but it's last entry has been on Ikusa Megami 0 and nothing new's been posted so far. For upcoming eroge releases you could also check out getchu's monthly title release to know when they're coming out.

I always wonder, how the hell do you play so fast >.<

I recently played Twinkle crusaders (a very good eroge) it took more than three weeks to finish all the main routes >.<

Utau
2008-11-12, 02:09
lol, i wonder how people do that as well :heh:

in my case it usually takes me at least 2-3 days to finish one route. I think my longest was when I was playing Nursery Rhyme with Yukina's route. And still haven't got to complete the game with all girls.

with bunch of new titles released last month i'm still struggling which to play next after i finish Concerto Note and Twinkle Crusaders once.

The longest is has taken me to finish an Eroge is 4 days but, that was because it was pretty short... I can't imagine just how fast you need to read to finish Little Busters! EX in 4 days when I took around two weeks to finish he original version. BTW, my average time to finish a Eroge is two weeks. Stupid college >_>

4 days? The last game I read through was Lovers~koi ni ochitara~, which I started in August and finished today. :heh:
And when I say "finished", I'm just talking about one route. Usually I move on once I saw an ending. I just somehow don't like reading though parts I know again until that choice comes up which splits paths....maybe I'm missing out but it just doesn't feel right.

If you're a fan of minori's works, keep an eye on THIS (http://www.minori.ph/lineup/eden_/index.html) page for the next few days. It's the page for their upcoming release, called "eden", and info for that will be available on November 10th. It's slated for released in about a year.
Had this issue for ages but forgot about this thread :heh: Oh well, no one else posted anything so better late than never.

Sion is moe. The story, basically, is set many, many years in the future when mankind knows the planet has about a hundred years left. So they start the フェリックス (Fellix? Romanise it how you like) Project to create a race of perpetually youthful and long lived humans via genetic engineering, the main one being Sion, who always gets used as a symbol in the government's propaganda campaigns. Anyway, 99 years later everyone's on their way to another planet Sion decides she wants to stay on earth to live out the rest of its life, and our young protagonist takes on the responsibility of protecting her, because she's spent her whole life in a mansion and doesn't have a clue about the world outside.

No that line above isn't a blurb from one of FrontWing's promotional videos. However they are bringing a song of stars. Hoshiuta arrives in stores and torrent sites late December, in time for a new year's splurge of eroge.

Be warned that I haven't found an AGTH code that works for this trial so I'm running on somewhat limited knowledge.

This game, in similar fashion to its predecessor Sorauta, takes place in a small oceanside town called Miyoshi, with a peacful, idyllic high school setting. A very common and much-used setting, but if it's anything like Sorauta there will be a twist of some kind to give life to the cliche. The predecessor's special thing was that the male lead could see and interact with ghosts. I don't know yet what Hoshiuta's distinguisher is.

Here are the cast of characters:

Suoh Kazuhiko

Our esteemed male lead, one who will lead us to victory and conquest over young and nubile bishoujos everywhere through his nose-picking. I think that's what the line in moonspeak said, but it's a weird habit of his where he, without knowing, starts picking his nose. Aside from that oddity, he's a normal guy. Pretty serious and straight-laced but not anal, and enjoys some fun what he wants.

He and his little sister Nanano live together in their house. In the past their grandmother had looked after them and Kazuhiko wanted to repay his debt to her in some way in the future but before he could she passed away. Now he looks after Nanano on his own, hoping in some way that he's repaying his debt.

He also holds a part-time job at the inn Yui's family owns, doing whatever work is at hand and delivering stuff.

http://xs433.xs.to/xs433/08482/profile_yui1590.jpg.xs.jpg (http://xs.to/xs.php?h=xs433&d=08482&f=profile_yui1590.jpg)

Kuroda Yui

She and her mother moved into the town from Tokyo about ten years ago. They had some difficulty early on but their inn is now prospering. Yui has grown up with Kazuhiko since.

Yui is feisty, to say. She's easily roused to anger, especially by her classmate Arisa, who's a decent girl but has no idea why Yui's getting so worked up every time she points out something wrong with what Yui's doing..... or when she starts flirting with Kazuhiko. lol.

http://xs433.xs.to/xs433/08482/ev11a822.jpg.xs.jpg (http://xs.to/xs.php?h=xs433&d=08482&f=ev11a822.jpg)

Unlike most osanajimis Yui does not wake Kazuhiko up in the morning or cook his meals. Also unlike most osanajimis she has a fascination with bananas and eats them whenever there's a chance. She's also a good hand at table tennis and softball.

http://xs433.xs.to/xs433/08482/profile_nanano1520.jpg.xs.jpg (http://xs.to/xs.php?h=xs433&d=08482&f=profile_nanano1520.jpg)

Suoh Nanano

Kazuhiko's adopted little sister (oh yeah :D) who was brought into the family after her parents died. She used to be a depressed crybaby in the past, but thanks to Kazuhiko she has become a cheerful and energetic girl who enjoys life, waking Kazuhiko up to the sounds of melon bread being succulated on, cooking him breakfasts of turtle stew, and has a pet turtle named Kameshiro, whom she almost accidentally cooked into aforementioned stew at one point. Reminds me of that little turtle in Love Hina; no mysterious and baffling capabilty of flight however.

http://xs433.xs.to/xs433/08482/ev3135.jpg.xs.jpg (http://xs.to/xs.php?h=xs433&d=08482&f=ev3135.jpg)

She's a happy girl now, but whenever Kazuhiko or anyone else teases her a little too far she goes over to occupy some random vacant corner and draw circles on the ground. You can spot the Nanano's unique behavior in its natural habitat if you are vigilant, and mask your presence with the pheromones of a nameless background extra.

Here we have the Nanano at a sidewalk:

And here at the MGM Grand after finding out that the chances of winning big on the slot machines is equal to the distance between Hemi and the nearest picture of San, which is roughly near-zero:

http://xs433.xs.to/xs433/08482/ev13752.jpg.xs.jpg (http://xs.to/xs.php?h=xs433&d=08482&f=ev13752.jpg)

Amamiya Kurara

The gentle, cat-loving, and well-mannered only daughter of the Amamiya family and heiress to their enormous business conglomerate. She moves to Miyoshi from Tokyo for reasons no one can imagine and transfers into Kazuhiko's school only a short while before school break. She's the super-rich ojousama of this game, and unlike the typical cliche she's not an arrogant princess who flaunts her status in the faces of the plebes. What a novel concept! :p

http://xs433.xs.to/xs433/08482/kurara1944.jpg

It also seems that she's visited Miyoshi in the past. (Dun dun, I can see the plot speculations forming now, YEYYEEEEEAAAARRGH!!!)

http://xs433.xs.to/xs433/08482/profile_midori1324.jpg.xs.jpg (http://xs.to/xs.php?h=xs433&d=08482&f=profile_midori1324.jpg)

Kinoshita Midori

A third year sempai who is part of Kazuhiko's circle of friends. She had an accident a few years back that crippled her left leg below the knee, reducing her to walking with a cane or putzing around on a wheelchair she named "Hayate." While she has lost the ability to walk, she has not lost any of her capacity for energy, cheerfulness, love of teasing other people, and enjoyment in life in general. She also likes swimming and apparently does some work with disabled people and swimming. She has also gained the power to crush apples with her bare hands. :heh:

While she's not doing school stuff or teasing one or all of Kazuhiko, Nanano, and Yui, she spends time attempting drifts and powerslides with Hayate, or trying alternate methods of getting from one floor of the school to the other without using the elevator. Her wheelchair, by the way, has three modes of stopping. One is her handbrake. The second is probably managing her way onto an uphill. The third, when all other method and hope has failed, is the fade and skid-resistant, carbon-ceramic, world-stopping, Kazuhiko body brake, operable seemingly whenver Midori needs it. Available as an option on your 2009 Hayate for the price of one melon bread (Shana-tan preferably included), banana, and a dose of nonononononononononono~...

PS: She's also voiced by Aoyama Yukari. I can hear the seizures from Hemi already. :D

http://xs433.xs.to/xs433/08482/profile_renge1403.jpg.xs.jpg (http://xs.to/xs.php?h=xs433&d=08482&f=profile_renge1403.jpg)

Yamabuki Renge

Niyari~ A mysterious girl who lives in a mansion at the end of the cape. Niyari~ She has a mysterious, doll-like air to her, and wields a devious and rebellious personality. Niyari~ As of the trial, she has been shown to frequently play pranks on people, or swindle storeowners of their goods, and then leave a "present" of some kind afterwards. Niyari~ Weird thing from my personal observation seems to be that all of this only started very recently for the people of Miyoshi. I do wonder what is going on with this girl. Niyari~

Did I mention yet that she says "Niyari~" a lot? Yeah. Niyari~

And here's the picture of the support characters:

http://xs433.xs.to/xs433/08482/minorcast1169.jpg.xs.jpg (http://xs.to/xs.php?h=xs433&d=08482&f=minorcast1169.jpg)

Because as we all know a picture speaks a thousand words and that's a thousand words I don't have to spend describing what little I know or what little there is to know about these people. ;)

That's that for the characters. Niyari~. Now onto what the trial covered, which wasn't a lot really, making this one of the shorter trials I've ever run through:

http://xs433.xs.to/xs433/08482/ev1383.jpg.xs.jpg (http://xs.to/xs.php?h=xs433&d=08482&f=ev1383.jpg)

When you press the Hajime-whatever button the first thing you see is a flashback through a dream Kazuhiko's having. It's in his past, and he's on the beach, a particular spot of rocks he likes to frequent. Sitting there is a young girl doodling on a sketchpad. He asks her what she's doing and clearly she's drawing, and she claims she likes doing it from time to time. When asked whether she lives in Miyoshi she replies that she's only here to visit. She asks him his name and he tells her "Kazuhiko," so she's now calling him Kazuhiko-kun. When he asks her for hers she's about to tell him when the flashback conveniently ends for the sake of story. But it's probably just cause Kazuhiko doesn't remember. Maybe that Niyari~ girl has something to do with it. Hnn hmmm....

But whatever. He's having a hard time waking up so his loving sister comes him to do it for him. When he's proving uncooperative, she decides to take measures and tells him that this is all his fault.

Kazuhiko starts hearing sucking and slurping noises and starts to stir from his sleep. Wha..no..can't be.. it can't be, not this early in the story, not before the "let's take a bath together oniichan" (http://xs433.xs.to/xs433/08482/ev17637.jpg) scene, and the "let's have a date" scene, and the ring, the genokiller references, the t-shirt sniffing, that time and place in space and time when one's sister looks different than usual and not in the manner that's safe for a Sunday church gathering although Nanano's a pettanko but that's probably even worse, and the oniichan, the oniichan! THE ONIIIIIICCHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNN!!!!!

http://xs433.xs.to/xs433/08482/ev2707.jpg.xs.jpg (http://xs.to/xs.php?h=xs433&d=08482&f=ev2707.jpg)

Yeah. Turns out she wants to stir him awake by eating a priceless and treasured piece of mango melon bread. Which I don't think Kazuhiko's really into even, but Nanano is. And yes I did think all those thoughts above when I encountered this scene, although in a more subliminal and less verbal fashion.

Nanano almost ends up cooking Kameshiro in her stew but all's safe afterwards and the turtle's still kicking and happy. I forgot to mention that this little reptilian seems to posses the capacity of understanding human speech. Perhaps Nanano's ancestor was a lizardman because she looks like she can also grasp what Kameshiro's saying in return. So perhaps the two are distantly related, and a long, long time ago, in the age after the dinosaurs but before man, a monkey and an iguana fell in love and.... but that's a different story, and we want this review about an EROGE trial to be safe for work, right? :)

The two, after having a normal, non-turtle stew, set out for school. Along the way they pass the Kuroda Inn, where Yui is tending her own little banana republic in front of the inn.

http://xs433.xs.to/xs433/08482/ev5666.jpg.xs.jpg (http://xs.to/xs.php?h=xs433&d=08482&f=ev5666.jpg)

They say hi and are about to leave when Yui's mom comes out.

http://xs433.xs.to/xs433/08482/ev6468.jpg.xs.jpg (http://xs.to/xs.php?h=xs433&d=08482&f=ev6468.jpg)

"Aren't you forgetting something?"

"Don't worry, I've got today's banana harvest with me right here for today's lunch! Yaay!"

"No you dunce of a daughter you forgot your schoolbag."

"O__O. -___-. XD"

Yui then retorts why her mom didn't come out with her bag and the latter replies with some reason I'm sure only parents can understand, and even then probably only those who live in small, idyllic Japanese towns who have a daughter who's an osanajimi to a future harem pimp that can almost rival the likes of Hemi. I say almost, because the said harem pimp is imaginary, as are his harem. But so are Hemi's waifus. So yeah.

Along the way some bastard of a truck nearly clips Kazuhiko. Inside is a blue-haired girl looking down at him in the same way one would look at an interesting patch of dirt.

http://xs433.xs.to/xs433/08482/ev8113.jpg.xs.jpg (http://xs.to/xs.php?h=xs433&d=08482&f=ev8113.jpg)

Kazuhiko launches a tirade, and in return,

http://xs433.xs.to/xs433/08482/ev9481.jpg.xs.jpg (http://xs.to/xs.php?h=xs433&d=08482&f=ev9481.jpg)
"Niyari~"

And drives off.

Moving on. If you meet the osanajimi, clearly you have to meet the sempai as well along the way.

http://xs433.xs.to/xs433/08482/ev10101.jpg.xs.jpg (http://xs.to/xs.php?h=xs433&d=08482&f=ev10101.jpg)

Kazuhiko Body Brake in action, Formula 1 style!!

They say hi and stuff. Now somewhere in the above Nanano does her first instance of the whole find vacant corner and carve egg-nests out of the pavement thing. Along with mention of something about Kazuhiko only really smiling when he's teasing someone or watching a comedy of some sort.

Following the intro of these characters, we get a bunch of generic events, along with a few special ones, like Midori attempting to escalator down a flight of stairs on her wheelchair. She paid for Kazuhiko carbon-ceramic brakes but got Kazuhiko sport seats instead:

http://xs433.xs.to/xs433/08482/ev18389.jpg.xs.jpg (http://xs.to/xs.php?h=xs433&d=08482&f=ev18389.jpg)

We're also enlightened to how Kazuhiko's grandmother took care of the Suoh siblings in the past and how much he wanted to repay that debt. We also get introduced to Kazuhiko's male best friend and Arisa, a female classmate of his who teases Yui a lot, who's also in the same class. There's the super-hot homeroom teacher too:

http://xs433.xs.to/xs433/08482/ev12211.jpg.xs.jpg (http://xs.to/xs.php?h=xs433&d=08482&f=ev12211.jpg)

There's Kameshiro callistenics (http://xs433.xs.to/xs433/08482/ev15707.jpg), some more grandmother flashbacks, and this, where Kazuhiko gets called into the inn for some extra work and afterwards he has a furious table tennis match with Yui.

http://xs433.xs.to/xs433/08482/ev16402.jpg.xs.jpg (http://xs.to/xs.php?h=xs433&d=08482&f=ev16402.jpg)

Yui's clothes get aboved in the process. Clearly she's ecchi in the inside, exhibitionist, and wants to iccha iccha Kazuhiko or maybe that appetizing tennis paddle. Haha, I see what your little banana republic is for now, you scoundrel of a female!

Also rumors have been flying around of a strange girl who plays pranks on people and steals people's stuff. Nanano had one such encounter when said girl told her to close her eyes, and then pressed a cold soda can onto the back of Nanano's neck, going "Niyari~" after the deed's done.

The interesting part of the trial happens near the end, when Kazuhiko has to go out on a scooter to deliver some stuff. He spots that blue-haired girl who almost ran him over swindle another shopkeeper of some of his goods with a healthy Niyari~.

http://xs433.xs.to/xs433/08482/ev20223.jpg.xs.jpg (http://xs.to/xs.php?h=xs433&d=08482&f=ev20223.jpg)

She spots Kazuhiko staring at her and she makes off with a "Hmph!" Clearly this is one of those tsundere things in the works.

He runs into a maid who can go from meido mode to scary I'm-gonna-eat-your-heart-in-front-of-you-while-you-watch mode with a single phonecall.

http://xs433.xs.to/xs433/08482/ev19631.jpg.xs.jpg (http://xs.to/xs.php?h=xs433&d=08482&f=ev19631.jpg)

Afterwards he gets a delivery job and is going around town on his scooter when he spots a girl he hasn't seen around town before:

http://xs433.xs.to/xs433/08482/ev21389.jpg.xs.jpg (http://xs.to/xs.php?h=xs433&d=08482&f=ev21389.jpg)

He asks her if she's looking for anything and she asks him if there used to be a particular store here. Kazuhiko tells her that the storeowner died about five years ago, and the girl remarks to herself that indeed time has flowed. She then thanks him and apologizes for taking up his time, and leaves. Kazuhiko goes back on his delivery route.

In the afternoon he goes to the beach with Yui but she has to go to the bathroom so leaves early. Convenient too because Kazuhiko spots someone on the rocks he used to frequently visit in the past. It's that girl from earlier:

http://xs433.xs.to/xs433/08482/ev22822.jpg.xs.jpg (http://xs.to/xs.php?h=xs433&d=08482&f=ev22822.jpg)

He introduces himself as that guy from earlier. The girl's confused at first but then realizes who he is, since earlier he had some headgear on, obscuring some of his face. She starts a formal show of thanks but,

She finishes her thanks and apologies and says that these particular rocks are very nostalgic for her, leading Kazuhiko to note that this girl's must've been to Miyoshi before. She continues to stare at Kazuhiko's face. He wonders what's going on and unconsciously starts picking his nose. The girl recognizes that habit and asks him if he is "Kazuhiko-kun."

Our guy wonders how she knows his name and admits. Girl is shocked.

"No way. To meet him again...in this place...."

Cliffhanger!! I'm so looking forward to Kurara moving into Kazuhiko's school and how that's going to stir things up for the rest of the heroines. There's not a lot of material in the trial so I don't know how they're going to spice things up in the full version. Hopefully like Sorauta it's going to have something special to enliven a generic small town high school setting.

Look forward to the game come late December!

And that's my summary of Hoshiuta's trial. Now with more screencap-spam!

She and her mother moved into the town from Tokyo about ten years ago. They had some difficulty early on but their inn is now prospering. Yui has grown up with Kazuhiko since.

Yui is feisty, to say. She's easily roused to anger, especially by her classmate Arisa, who's a decent girl but has no idea why Yui's getting so worked up every time she points out something wrong with what Yui's doing..... or when she starts flirting with Kazuhiko. lol.

Unlike most osanajimis Yui does not wake Kazuhiko up in the morning or cook his meals. Also unlike most osanajimis she has a fascination with bananas and eats them whenever there's a chance. She's also a good hand at table tennis and softball.

She starts a formal show of thanks but,

http://xs433.xs.to/xs433/08482/ev23514.jpg.xs.jpg (http://xs.to/xs.php?h=xs433&d=08482&f=ev23514.jpg)

She starts a formal show of thanks but,

http://xs433.xs.to/xs433/08482/ev23514.jpg.xs.jpg (http://xs.to/xs.php?h=xs433&d=08482&f=ev23514.jpg)

Anything that has a great cast of girls and some drama. (Only STRAIGHT Ero games)

my #1 favorite tho is "I'm gonna serve you 4" best one by far, the girls are all sweet and all of the endings are sad, either the SAD sad, or happy sad... and one of the songs actually make me feel like someone i know died =\

Yuzu Soft opened the HP for their 4th project named Lucky or Unlucky!? which you can visit here (http://yuzu-soft.com/tenshin/index.html)

Of course already looking forward to it! The setting is similar to that of Clochette's Kamipani! You got a (hot) goddess, her assistant, your younger sister and your osananajimi. Let's hope it turns out a lot better but, since it Yuzu Soft, I'm sure it will.

About the story I don't get too much but, it seems the main character has tons of bad luck but, someone manages to get over it with the help of his friends. He was spending normal days until he meets temple's goddess...

If someone could give a proper translation, please.

I was interested in that 4th Yuzusoft title, but after looking at the actual website I was suddenly filled with a moelicious passion. Maybe it's the fact that one of the characters is a goddess like Kamipani, but either way I suddenly wants it.

Just looked at Tenshinranman (the whole title?) Lucky or Unlucky's website... and hot damn, I think I'm in love with Sakuya-hime... the goddess clothing totally fits her...

And not to mention that I just love girls with long silky hair~

The other characters seem to be good as well... the fox assistant, the osananajimi(?), an aggressive-charming girl, and... if I'm reading the stuff right, there's also an adopted(??) sister in the mix?

Totally watching out for this. :D

My November new release playlist is Sakaagari Hurricane and (maybe) Naisho Shinsuki.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking too. It's highly unlikely though that they'll assign a main role to a newcomer unless she's highly promising, so it's either that or a pseudonym.

EDIT: Started playing Maple Colors 2.

I'll say this for now, as an initial impression.

This game. Is............. Different. In a good way. Very good way. The male lead is already hilariously likeable, and the lead female makes a hilarious mockery of him in their first encounter. This game does not feel or play like any other high school themed game I've played so far (perhaps with the exception of the first maple colors, which I haven't played).

And it's so, oh so very spontaneously random. And I have to emphasize how different it is from every other high school themed game. And this game is hilarious. If every other high school themed erogame I've played is like typical comedy anime, Maple Colors 2 is like Guu.

The picture is scary...

According to this (http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm5405297), the date was moved back a week... Though Apricot's site doesn't say that, I think. Hmm...?

Ahh~! Play the first Maple Colors. It's quite an enjoyable game. Quite. Unique too. And frustrating without a guide.
I don't see how you could hate it if you find 2 enjoyable already~ ( ^ω^)
And be sure to check out Maple Colors H too.
Mirai~~~~~~~~~ (;´Д`)ハァハァ

(´・ω・`)
I need to test out the trial soon too... Or wait a few more weeks for the finished version.
It won't continue to be delayed, I hope...

PS: The trial was out quite a while ago :heh:

Finished Sharnoth. It was rougher around the edges IMO than Inganock, but still, what a great concept--and Mary and M are such amazingly interesting, appealing characters. The game itself wouldn't make it onto my favorites list, but Mary/M is definitely one of my favorite relationships (romantic or otherwise) I've seen in eroge. Although it's kind of misleading to describe Sharnoth as an eroge... Anyway, though, I would've *killed* for just one more scene at the end there. Fandisc plz??

I was going to ask this in tech but since I don't think everyone knows what eroge is, I'll ask it here.

Are the somewhat recent (2007-now) eroge compatible with 64-bit OS, both XP and Vista? I'm not a techie, so I'm wondering if any of you guys running those systems have any trouble with playing games and if so, what's the remedy for it?

Eroge don't rely on any deep Windows features, or depend on certain hardware device drivers, so they'll run in the built-in 32-bit emulation mode automatically without problem.

Oh I see. It's because I have heard from people who tried to install a game like Sexy Beach 3 on Vista had to manually move and delete files before things can work normally and even then not certain they would work smoothly like XP 32-bit environment. I'm planning to move to 64-bit platform and what you said is a bit reassuring. Thanks. Still looking for more feedback if possible though.

All I know is that in the 360 version of Chaos;Head there are now going to be "routes" for the heroines and that the CG will be updated to fit the move to 360.

I had no idea that 11eyes was being ported... did it really do that well?

Normally I wouldn't post this here, but I totally had to, because Nitro+Chiral's sweet pool has one of the neater methods of manifesting decision points I've seen in any game. It's essentially the same as the red/green triggers in Chaos;Head, but soooo much more visually jazzy.

Short example video is here (http://www.nitrochiral.com/pc/software/sweetpool/notice.html). Do you guys know of any other games that dress decision points up like this? I'm curious.

Still looking for more feedback if possible though.Well, I suppose 3D eroge like that are still in the minority, and if they did something strange with the OS, there's a chance there may be issues. But, for the most part, it's very, very rare to run into programs that don't work on 64-bit Vista these days. DirectX-based applications should have no problem. The only sorts of things that generally have trouble are device drivers and system utility type programs, and by now most of those have 64-bit versions. But if there are specific programs with issues, I imagine that they'll either be documented or patched by now. Like any rule, there's bound to be a few exceptions, but I can only say that I have been running 64-bit Vista on here for a while now, and haven't had any major issue launching any of the new eroge I've purchased in the last 12-18 months.

I had no idea that 11eyes was being ported... did it really do that well?Well, I think it did sell pretty well (#10 on Getchu for first-half 2008, for what it's worth), but all in all it's really the sort of game that was designed to be made into a consumer version, I think.

Thats Nitro+Chiral's latest? That is pretty jazzy and perfect for them.

Well I've finally gotten around to playing Utawarerumono (PC). I think it's pretty good. But since I'm a person who looks deep into stories and such. I feel that the game doesn't have an immersive feel like some of the more recent visual novels I've played.
Battle system is good, simple and easy to get into. But I'll whine that the PS2 version has all the fun with the inclusion of items and bonuses, and more battles (and that version also has voices).

The game does have just a bunch of cute moment that are fun to watch. There's no problem with that.
More on my complaint with the lack of immersion. I guess perhaps, it's game that doesn't really rely on it to be fun.

The story is fine, and has good presentation (despite the lack of immersion). I have to congratulate the anime writers for giving alittle more depth to some parts of the story.

I don't love the music... it looks like I've been spoiled with a variety of great music after listening to Umineko's soundtrack.

While we're at it, I read somewhere that Yosuga no Sora has blood-related incest. How is that aspect of it handled? That intrigues me, if only for the novelty--it's nice to see a writer with the guts to go for the real thing instead of playing off some lame pseudo-incest vibe with childhood friends or adopted siblings. Of course, no point if it doesn't handle the f'ed up emotional issues with at least some seriousness. I'm not asking for a full-blown Koi Kaze-style treatment, but still....

It's not just blood-related incest, it's twincest. As Sora is hikikomori moe.

Though in terms of how it's handled drama was would be giving out too many spoilers.
Basically the siblings have a unbalanced dependency with each other do to their parents dieing.
Also, Sora's route isn't that long compared to the other girls (I was able to finish it in around 3-4 hours)

Asanagi no Aquanauts also has blood incest, which also happens to be twincest cause the male lead and his sister are different gender identical twins (possible only through an extraordinarily rare genetic mutation in real life, but only requires love and peace in eroge! :) ) She's also his oneechan.

IIRC, their father was also their mother's brother (who died before they were born). So, the sibling attraction was a genetic trait?Definitely one of the more unconventional approaches to this issue in the games I've played.

I just played through half of the entirety of a game called "Futanari Kanon-chan" that came out a few days ago. It's not everyday so to speak that you see a game that centers around the concept of a dickgirl, so I gave it a try. There's another futanari game coming out in January as well.

This game is low budget and comes from one of those minor status, ero-oriented companies and you can see it. The interface is very simple with little eye candy. I thought it would be simplistic in story and characters too but I was pleasantly surprised by how decent the plot is and how well-executed the main character. Every character is voiced except for the males, and the main character is fully voiced as well, her dialogue, h-scenes, and monologues.

The game's main character is Shinonome Kanon, who was an ordinary girl until one day she woke up with a penis between her legs for some yet-unexplained reason, making her into a futanari. She keeps this development a secret from everyone else, fearing that they'll hate her and that she'll get expelled from her all-girls school and be shunned by society in general. Thus she has tried to continue her normal life to the best as she could while grappling with the issues and depression her condition causes her.

She's fairly hot and cute, lacking in self-confidence, and very nice to everyone...... unless she happens to be turned on and you happen to be a cute girl standing next to her, in which case RUN. RUN for your purity and maidenhood, because Kanon's sex drive is UNSTOPPABLE.

http://xs234.xs.to/xs234/08501/clipboard01180.jpg.xs.jpg (http://xs.to/xs.php?h=xs234&d=08501&f=clipboard01180.jpg)

(it's much like this eyecatch implies)

It's not that she likes it or wants to be that way, but once her thing gets big (and it gets big frequently I tell you) it's gotta be taken care of somehow, preferably by herself, which she does frequently thoughout the game, but if a cute girl happens to be there and accidentally rubs Kanon's thing the wrong way..... well, young lady, we'll pray for your safe passage into the land of sin. :p

Her voice is high-pitched and I didn't feel comfortable with it at first but then grew to like it. Especially during the h-scenes. :)

The other characters are Matoba, who's Kanon's energetic kouhai who tries to support her sempai whenever and however she can. Yuki is the prim and proper student council president, while Kanon is the vice-president. Maya is the newly-appointed health teacher. There are also minor characters like that hideous bastard of a PE teacher, who's the closest thing to a villain in this game, who's a sadist who also likes to molest the students.

Kanon's a great character. Her lack of self-confidence, her struggle with her condition and her wish to become self-confident again and regain her normal, happy life, all make her a good character, but she becomes great in my opinion because she's not just nice, and self-pitying all the time. She can succumb to the stress or get mad at people too, so to speak. She doesn't just stand there and take it like some one-dimensional character.

Did I mention that she has a massive sex drive? Yes there's that, and the fact that this game is still one of those small, ero-oriented game. The game's opening scene is of her furiously beating it off in her bed in the morning because if she didn't she'd never get her morning wood into her underwear. But seriously, her sex drive is really something. And this game is raunchy, like Prima Stella raunchy, without sound effects, and with mainly girls. This game isn't that short though. I guess it's about a little less than normal ero-game length. Oh and lastly the music is actually pretty decent.

This game, in my opinion, exemplifies everything about the futanari fetish that makes it so appealing to its fans, so if you want to know why people like the fetish, this game would be an excellent way to know.

Enjoy, and watch your behinds! :heh:

EDIT: Actually I was mistakened; this game is pretty short. The whole thing is probably the length of a typical eroge's route plus a little more.

And both will be the usual 16:9, 720P, Dolby Digital that is typical of 360 games.

I've seen the anime of Discode so I know what you're talking about, but Gouen no Soleil isn't really meant with the futanari fetish in mind. Futanari Kanon-chan portrays the 'spirit' so to speak of the fetish better.

The Paris Gun was a WWI-era German rail artillery piece, not WWII. They wouldn't have needed it anyway in WWII, since the gun was abandoned before WWI ended because it was a liability, without having fired one real shot at Paris.

I'm not much of a fan of these games. Although I like the concept of these types of games, I still think that inserting erotic content into action game or RPG is much better then to play normal visual novel that are greatly present today.

That said, even if I'm not a fan, there are exceptions. My favorite would be Knights of Xentar, an old RPG which had neat story and tons of jokes that can make anyone laugh, even a bit, and Brave Soul, another ''newer'' action RPG that had nice gameplay and great medieval characters. And the third one would be Ero-Night, a pretty well thought flash game.

I didn't search much for other ones but, if someone played these and know some similar medieval ones that has action/RPG genre, please share.

My copies of Fate/stay night and Fate/hollow ataraxia arrived this week. So of course I've started with Fate, and have finally gotten to the real beginning of the game (past prologue and right where Shirou meets Saber). Fun stuff. This is pretty big, cause I've proclaimed myself a Type-Moon fan and so playing Fate is sort of something I've had to do (still though I might prefer some aspects of Tsukihime). I'm really loving the interactions between Rin and Archer, they're funny as hell.

I really love the how the serious aspects of Shirou are brought out with his mental talk, his thoughts of Justice are quite deep. It reminds of why I love 07th Expansion so much.

On the music. I love the battle theme, and it's a big plus that the tracks have some variety.

Just finished reading Nursery Rhyme and it was just fine! I was as good as Tayutama but, I was already expecting it yet, it was good enough to make the time I spent on it worth it.This is why it's sort of interesting going through a company's games in reverse, and I assume that it's sort of the same for you. It's very easy to notice the problems in the earlier games that the newer game was designed to fix.

For example, I'm currently going through feng's Aozora no Mieru Oka, the game released before the now-anime-adapted Akane-iro ni Somaru Saka. It's pretty obvious now that Akane-iro was designed, basically, as a "version 2" of Aozora in a lot of ways. Some of the characters are near-straight copies with just slightly-tweaked personalities (in particular, you could almost call Nonoka and Mizuki siblings, and Iori and Yuuhi aren't far apart either). But they really did fix a lot of Aozora's problems too. For example, Aozora's story is half the length of Akane-iro, and while I at times felt that Akane-iro's story dragged a bit, Aozora's story was definitely way too rushed -- it's paced exactly like a one-cour anime, where the drama/romance only starts in the 10th episode, and that's way too short. Akane-iro gave at least 5-7 anime episodes worth of story to the final pairing not even counting ecchi scenes (which were done as a sort of sidestory/bonus in Akane-iro). There also just some general things about the pacing and presentation that improved in Akane-iro that make Aozora definitely look a bit dated in comparison. Still not a bad game by any stretch (art is generally quite nice, and I'm a fan of the music composer), but its already easy to identify its age. Makes me wonder if they're going to try for a "version 3" with their next game, or do something completely different.

I also have Lump of Sugar's Itsusora here (possibly next in line), and the technical improvements made are obvious from the moment you press start. I mean, "NVL"? That's definitely out of style these days. But it all made sense in the time when it was created.

That's opposed to the AVG style (Adventure Game), which is the more-usual (these days) having the text in the bottom 1/4 of the screen, and sort of like dollhouse/cardboard cutouts on-screen with a CG background, and the occasional full-character CG. I remember they made a big deal when ToHeart 2 went from NVL to AVG in the expansion; it was sort of one of the last major hold-outs (due to legacy). Pretty rare to see new mainstream games go with the NVL format these days.

Honestly, I couldn't see Itsusora working with anything else but the NVL format. Nursery Rhyme was in AVG format but they decided to go with a NVL format for Itsusora instead, and the former was the company's first title. So they had to have had a reason for going with the NVL format...and I imagine that the huge load of text was part of it, hahaha.

And yeah, you hardly see any games in NVL format these days. Last eroge that had NVL format that I played was...yup, Itsusora.

Oh, speaking of Itsusora, I stumbled upon a Konome figure for sale at an anime con earlier today........but wasn't interested, so I didn't buy it.

Can eroge companies learn from their mistakes? It seems so with Makura soft. Supreme Candy's only serious flaw was that there was very little, too little inter-character interaction. Vast majority of the action were between the protagonist and one girl.

So I played Sakura no Uta trial version, their game that they've been developing one way or another for a long time; kind of like their own Duke Nukem Forever except that it's probably their next released game, hopefully. This game is completely different from Supreme Candy. It's got a LARGE cast for a game of its kind, and they interact in lively groups frequently. Aaaah, what a fresh change of atmosphere, and it feels like their art department got even better.

I played the trial version of Yusoga no Sora. Looks very cool. I think i will try this one next.

By the way... for anyone interested, i heard some news about Tech Gian announcing the anime TV series based in TAYUTAMA ~ KISS ON MY DEITY. Someone can confirm that?

Maybe i will give a try in this eroge too. It looks very cool. :)

And yeah, my copy of Yosuga no Sora arrived some time last week, but it's on short hold at the moment while I finish up a few other things. It'll also get delayed by D.C. II P.C.'s pending arrival. Also getting Hoshiuta, and a whole slew of end-January titles... it never ends! :heh:

Thanks for the info! :)

By the way... i was curious about TAYUTAMA and checked their site too.
It seems beside the anime show, T-KomD have a Sequel/Fandisk (http://www.lumpofsugar.co.jp/product/happydays/index.php) in the works, too.

Wow! A lot of Mashiro goodness in 2009! :heh:

Yep. I'm already looking forward to Mifuyu's China Dress *drool*

Oh and... I don't know if it's official but, it seems there will be an anime for Yuzu Soft's 4th title: Tenshin Ranman. The was a small entry on their blog here's the link (http://yuzu-soft.sblo.jp/article/24546598.html)

If true... Hope they improve the design for the characters...

They probably have plans for animating one of their titles right now but are passing it off as a gag at the moment.

I'd love to see ExE animated though.

and keep the game seiyuus, I want to see it too. Most likely, they'll animate Yu's path.

On ExE's case they could animate all the main three paths without problems. While Touya helps Yuu look for her father they simply get involved with everything else. Should not be too hard to do.

You might want to put a spoiler tag on that.:)

Any chances it would be a normal anime or a H-anime?

ExE is a conventionnal eroge: basing more on the story than its ero content (which was minimal/moderate) so it would be a regular anime series should it happen to be animated.

Tayutama Fandisc! Oh man, Mifuyu in a qipao...><; I'd probably die the moment I see it.

Happy Days indeed! Now I'm just hoping for a Nursery Rhyme - Itsusora - Tayutama crossover fandisc (like what one of the comics did by inserting Futami into Tayutama).

Any roricon that worth his salt should go for Digitalcute's Musuma~ker through his Christmas.

Beneath that moe~cute exterior lies a dark soul in which the player assume the role of a nice orphanage owner but is secretly training his young charges into prostitutes. Nice.

Meggido uses full 3d for the general interaction scenes that go on during usual ADV eroges. I'm surprised that it's working out better than I expected.

Would anyone here dare spend five grand on just one single Ero-game title in one go ?

Some guy just did (http://www.sankakucomplex.com/2008/12/27/king-of-erogamers-5000-koihime-musou-mega-purchase) over Christmas.

Megiddo's ending is so depressing. And so full of hope at the same time. I...ugh.

I really hope they release a sequel for this.

Also, Shizuka Itou voices Unohana no Sakuyahime!

Basically, Yuuri used his and the other three Great Tayutai's powers to recreate both, his soul and Mashiro's. This made him a being closer to what Mashiro is, Neither human nor Tayutai, and saved her as well. However, if I remember right, this process was completed after hundreds of years has passed...

As immortals both of them were simply traveling until one day, by coincidence, they return to Yuuri's old town or, at least, what is left of it. Mashiro then ask Yuuri if he regrets his decision... In order to save her, he had to gave up on everything else he had... I don't remember what Yuuri's answer was but, it was something like they only thing he regrets was not being able to properly say goodbye to everyone.

They finally decide to stop traveling and live there, create a family, etc.

She says that every day they spend together is fun, and it'll surely stay that way forever.

Circus appears to be doing another game that doesn't happen to be a milking of the DC franchise.

If you look at one of the sample CGs, either on Getchu or somewhere else, one of it has a heroine blowing down a sakura tree with her tank.

Today finished playing Yosuga no Sora! It was pretty decent but, better than your average eroge IMO (7.5/10).

My fav. character were Kazuha and Sora! Kazuha is one great ojou-sama (non-tsundere) and Sora is just plain moe though, a bit scary :heh:

My only complain is that all the routes are pretty short and that there was no route for neither Yahiro or Kozue though, I can't imagine Yahiro going all deredere over Haruka haha.

Happy New Year for everyone!

In the spirit of the New Year and this thread, I just thought I'd look back to 2008 and pick what my favourite games of the year were. They're not necessarily "The Best of 2008" by any means, but just my favourites of the ones I played. As some may know, my tastes tend to be more along the "mainstream romantic comedy/drama" AVG-style games (basically, the style of story they could easily turn into anime productions). Not going to bother doing a countdown, just list them.

1. Fortune Arterial by August
To be honest, it's really hard for me to find anything to fault in this game. The story is pretty much top of its class, both in content and presentation. The art, both normal and full-CG, is great. The characters are varied, interesting, and attractive in their own ways. The music repertoire is quite large and varied, and never fails to convey the mood well (with a few real stand-out pieces in there). The game is also a good length, especially when you consider the full-length true ending path that perfectly ties together all the previous paths. The game basically has something for everyone in it -- a truly mainstream, big-production type of title.

Favourite characters: Haruna Yuki, Shiro Togi

2. Tayutama -Kiss on My Deity- by Lump of Sugar
This is another all-around strong title in every area, and well worthy of being played. The only reason it's second and not first is because I wasn't as satisfied with a few of the story paths as I would have liked to be, and the game's structure doesn't hold up quite as well to alternate-path playthroughs (because large chunks of the game are the same with minor variations in order and dialogue). (Plus, well, a few of the ero-scenes were not to my tastes, let's say. :heh: ) But all in all, the game's exceptionally solid, and the true ending path is a classic (hopefully to be adapted in true form in the coming anime).

Favourite character: Mashiro Mitou (and yes, Mifuyu is very good too)

3. FairlyLife by Hook
I suspect that Hook's sense of humour is a bit of an acquired taste, but I was completely sold after HoneyComing, so didn't hesitate to give FairlyLife a try. I definitely didn't come away disappointed. The game's premise, story, and characters are all extremely quirky, but it's really the strength of the cast that carries the game. The game is roughly structured like an anime with different episodes, and there's a good amount of ending material for each heroine. The only thing I missed here was HoneyComing's trademark multi-hour epilogues, as FairlyLife returns to a more standard epilogue scene style. Anyway, if you like high-energy school-life comedies (with a healthy dose of romance and drama as needed), then you should enjoy this.

Favourite Characters: Yuzuki Sawatari, Miku Takaoka, Yuu Itsumi

Honourable Mentions:
- D.C. II P.S. (and P.C.) (by Circus) for bringing us Erika Murisaki
- Asanagi no Aquanauts (by Fizz), for great characters even if the story writing has a few issues IMO (see below).
- Lots of companies for making fandisks, because there's always more goodness to be told even after the final credits roll.

Random spoiler-ish memories/thoughts: (all of these "awards" are totally made-up and random)

Most annoying story/character trait:
Mio, you're great and all, but get it through your head: you can't wipe the lead's memories even if you want to, and you don't have the guts to permanently run away. So stop threatening it already! I stopped believing you after like the 5th time!
Most Useless User Interaction Interface:
I could rant forever about how completely rediculous and patently stupid the whole "select where you want to go now" map interface was used in this game. I mean, to get certain paths, you had to follow the same useless looping ending, complete with the same useless reused scene, like 5+ times until all of a sudden a new option would appear. (I think this was their way of making you say "I really don't want one of the above!" many times over.) Or other times, you'd be locked down a certain path after the first selection, but you'd still be taken to the map screen every single time even though you only had one (1) possible choice! What the hell! Next time, please, just let me pick the heroine right from the start and get it over with. Or at least make all the choices meaningful. Maybe it was their idea of a joke. Only give me a choice if it's relevant and useful.</rant>
Best-Kept Secret Main Heroine:
What you don't know in any other path of the game is that Yuzuki is actually an object too -- a statue. And she's actually just in the image of the real "Yuzuki" a.k.a. Naoko. Surprise! They're twins. Sort of. But they do have a "3P" path. :heh:
Best Plot Twist/Revelation Moment:
Finding out in the True Ending that Erika was the one who wiped Haruna's memories. All I could think of at that time was "Oh shit..." The way they tied all the stories together in that game was just great. And that wasn't the only plot twist/revelation in the true ending either; good stuff. I would almost hope for an anime, but only if they promise to do it seriously this time. :heh:
Scene that left the most-lasting impression:
I mentioned this in my Tayutama comments a while back, but the way the fog clears over the destroyed city while the haunting, but beautiful ED plays sent shivers down my spine. That ending is "the complete package". I doubt I'll soon forget that scene (or, by extension, that entire ending -- great stuff).

Well, I guess that's it for now. 2008 was a great year, and 2009 is already giving us (well, at least me) a lot to look forward to, with 3 big releases in the first month alone. Now if only there were more time...
