Best news evah! Thanks for the heads up!
I don't see what you mean by that. Episodic content does not mean that there is no on-going plot in the background. After all, episode 3 introduced Brief, and he's been a recurring character ever since. In episode 5 Stocking mentioned that all her fats go into her boobs, and she doesn't gain weight. This is again referenced in episode 7 indicating that there is an ongoing timeline.
It was clear that the demon sisters will be recurring characters after being introduced in ep11, but that doesn't mean the show is not still completely episodic. Each episode is self contained and has it's own thematic jokes and gags.
They're from the official site. They won't update the actual Story page with the episode summary until tomorrow, but the images usually get uploaded to the server in advance.
Yea, Demon Shimai!!!!
Anyways, are people still hung up whether there is a plot or continuity or something? People are trying WAY TOO HARD then. This is no more sophisticated than a really good FOX Kids type after school toon (like Animaniacs or something) from the 90s or something (although the visuals are much sharper). It's that brutal simplicity what makes it appealing in a world of convulted plots, pretentious stories and routine character "development".

I get the feeling that if it were fully a 90s fox kids (or nickolodeon) type of cartoon they wouldn't be collecting coins, they'd just be killing ghosts for no given reason.
duckroll explained it perfectly a few posts ago. Panty & Stocking has obvious continuity and is building up to an obvious climatic finale, but it still is an episodic show. It's closer to Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo than to Mushishi or Mononoke in that sense: the girls are fighting random Ghosts, sure, but the "narrative" is still leading towards a clear-cut ending.

In this episode Panty & Stocking become Transformers (It a parody of the Japanese version of transformers and That ugly movie version still sucks! The 80's and late 90's version still rocks!)
The first half really lightens up one's boron buttocks. There's always room in this world for robots, and that was suitably insane. That the Ghostformer looked like The Fallen only added to the bonuses. Such a sweet episode.
The second half, other than the presence of the Demon Sisters, was as episodic as anything else early in the series, solidifying where things are going. "Plot" hasn't really begun to move, but the show has gained a set of recurring antagonists. Also a nice episode. A ghost based on the pyramid on the back of the US $1. Never thought I'd see that.

Another great episode.
And call me weird that I didn't get to see Stocking's detailed robot form when they were transforming, haha.
Oh my god, just oh my god. Just when you think this show can get anymore extreme, it pulls out one of hell of a Transformers reference. Was funny at first that it was just the live action versions of Optimus Prime and Megatron, but then the show went old school very fast. There was R.C., Starscream, Soundwave, Hotrod, Grimlock, Devastator, even Unicron right at the end. & to top it all off, showing scenes from the 1986 film during the montage scene showing the battles. That was just too much for me to handle, though at the same time incredible.
As for the second half, plenty of very sexy shots thanks to the more realistic models of Panty & Stocking. Especially as Nurses.

This was my only expression
The Demon Sisters seem to be like the Team Rocket from Pokemon now. A recurring rival that always seems to get in the way of the main characters. But in this case, the Demon Sisters are going to do something more "devilish" then Team Rocket could ever do :heh:

Why did they even bother trying to get jobs? Panty's bra alone was worth 37 million! Stocking's stocking was worth more at 98million at least that was a heaven weapon.

And I must say, Gainax still keeping their stride from last week. Not only an extremely thorough Transformers reference, but the highest packed fanservice so far.
While not as much animated insanity as last week, plenty of good scenes.

Given that Transformers canon already has a robot made from a Mountain Dew vending machine, that's not much more far-fetched. What is far fetched, though, is Panty's condombots.
It's pretty hilarious how they mixed sex-themed bots along with recreations of the classics. For example Starscream in the above image.

Yeah same.
I guess my favorite old school reference has to be the shot of Devastator forcing his way into the building, which is a copy shot of the scene from the 1986 film, during the attack on Autobot City.

Maybe not for English speakers, but Mesutron ("mesu"=female, "Femitron" in the Crunchyroll sub) and Osutimus ("osu"=male, "Masculimus" in the Crunchyroll sub) were voiced by their G1 Japanese counterparts Seizo Katou (Megatron) and Tessho Genda (Convoy), respectively...
Makes me hope that whoever licenses it for an English dub gets Frank Welker and Peter Cullen to cameo those roles. They've already done it once for a Megas XLR episode...

Amemiya is the king of visual robot creativity. His work on ep12 of Pansto has immortalized (immoralized?) him forever. I really can't believe how good this series is getting. I wasn't expecting a ton from ep12 because of Wakabayashi writing the script, but man Amemiya really knocked this one out of the park. So fantastic, all the way up to the ending tease. Lol. The transformation animations for the title/credits/end were really nice touches too.
Ep13 was pretty solid too. Instead of trying to top the previous episode with pure animation and visuals which would be impossible, instead Yamaguchi and Otsuka decided to make another bubby episode. It's always nice to see Panty and Stocking doing things together, and all the variety in their various job failures and whatnot really made the episode entertaining.
Two above average episodes this week! Impressive stuff from Gainax. :D
Transformers part was really boring and unfunny, except for that Garterbelt moment.
Maybe it's interesting for mecha fans, but for me it was a total waste of screen time.
Gainax has, of all the dirty jobs, animating this show on a weekly basis, and even if this episode gave you the worst case of indigestion you've ever had, after last week, you won't believe the things they can do now. Considering they got the original Optimus and Megatron's voices, they reaped the whirlwind, even ending on a Unicron-lookalike descending on the Earth like some vast, predatory bird. So for this post, it's over - finished!

One of my favorite parts is when Stockingtron has just finished recruiting the rest of the Stockingcons, and she gives that classic Megatron sneer (see Funkatron's avatar). The level of detail that went into this parody is absolutely insane. The final battle between the Pantybots and the Stockingcons alone was absolutely brimming with visual references to the G1 animated movie.

The best part was when I noticed that at the start of the final battle, Panty has the Condombot attached to her gun. I was really losing it by then. The attention to detail in placing tiny visual gags within each frame of the main visual gag is really amazing. Amemiya knocked this one out of the park. :D

That's nothing. Right before that shot, Stockingtron's Dildocon is...in a very suggestive position...
I've stopped trying to anticipate this series, like I do with so many others. There's no point. Not that it's random, although it is, but there is very much a method to that deceptive madness. Now I just sit back and enjoy it, and then watch it a few more times to stand in bemused awe at what I can't believe I missed.
I only hope this series spawns more like it. Not just imitators of its subject matter and overall style, as there will no doubt be plenty of those knockoffs soon enough, but series that buck the "flavor of the week" trend and let their animators and directors have a little fun once in a while...
It may not quite have the best animation (although the last two episodes do nothing if not flaunt their animators' prodigious talents), it may not have the most complex plot (or any real plot, for that matter), and it may not even be the funniest (Mitsudomoe might argue that claim), but pound for pound, this may just be the best series of the year (amid admittedly scant competition)...if it keeps up this momentum. It's already guaranteed itself cult status of at least the FLCL level.

Bite your tongue, heathen. (lol jk ^_^) Transformers are not mecha. There are no angsty yet photogenic kids controlling those robots... That's what killed G1, was moving toward the traditional giant mecha pilot/mech dynamic, if only slightly. Very different types of stories, and a very different type of fan.

I love how there are so many totally off the wall gags in the background. I noticed that the Pantybots in the final battle also had a toiletbot among their ranks, and one of the most hilariously random moments in the final battle is when the robot with a car as its body transforms into a DINOSAUR instead. Seriously, Gainax is on some awesome drugs.

...alas, not in America
There's more traffic about this episode than I've seen on AS for either of the most recent Transformers series...
When it comes to voice actor selection, I suspect the Japanese version has an advantage over a future English dub, in terms of 'borrowing' from the franchise being parodied; from what I gather, Peter Cullen has already turned down offers to voice Optimus Prime in the likes of Robot Chicken (and that was in a skit that is arguably less forward than this one) as he takes the role too seriously to go for such a parody.
One thing that I couldn't help but think about; Geek Boy made such a big fuss about the futility of the two bio-mechanical factions tearing each other apart over some skewed sense of destiny; and yet, where was his sense of moral outrage when Panty and Stocking fight Scanty and Kneesocks? Isn't the conflict between angels and demons portrayed as the same kind of long-standing conflict (complete with bucketloads of collateral damage)?
Also, design-wise, it was interesting how Panty's Cybertronian form was based on both Optimus and Rodimus Prime, yet the suicide spy seemed to be somewhat based on the Alternators version of Rodimus (http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Hot_Rod_%28G1%29/toys#Alternators) (who, as it happens, doesn't have the trademark yellow wing spoiler that other Rodimus toys are known for... and that Panty herself has on her back.)

Ugggggggh.... its so stupid yet I keep tuning in each week. :eyespin:
While the Transformers episode was a better parody than usual, I still can't help but feel like Gainax came up with this series after watching an episode of South Park, seeing all the sex and poop jokes, and deciding to emulate it while losing all the brilliant social commentary that makes SP so great. :[
I love the art style of this show, and I've heard rumors that Gainax wanted to prove some point about the declining anime industry with this series, but I feel like making something purposely childish and dumb just to make a point is a waste of their talent and money... I do love the ending theme and "Fly Away," though. :heh:
I've heard rumors that Gainax wanted to prove some point about the declining anime industry with this series...I feel like making something purposely childish and dumb just to make a point is a waste of their talent and money
Not everything is political and allegorical. People don't automatically ascend to a higher plane of existence once they achieve fame. The baser instincts of human nature, those childish fantasies and things we found amusing are, to some degree, always within us. In pop psychology, this is the "inner child", but I'm not going to derail the thread with that. Even the people considered the greatest of greats among us just like to indulge their inner child from time to time (hopefully with some smoothing out around the edges) not to make a point, but because it's fun. To do what the world says you shouldn't do, no matter how vaguely defined that is, to break the chains and let the paint splotches of imagination fall on the canvas of the entertainment world wherever they should. Is it art? Not necessarily, but art doesn't even know what art is sometimes. There's no point to make; there never was. There's only a kid playing with his toys and putting it on the TV screen for us all. Beyond that lies naught but applicability.

It's a good point, but I guess I just never really feel like I'm having the fun that is so integral to the process you're describing. I see all the great opportunities for jokes and memorable scenes, only to be disappointed when Gainax takes the low road instead.
The most enjoyable scenes for me have been the crazy action sequences, which is what Gainax does best. I feel like the show doesn't fare so well as a comedy... I don't think I've laughed once (and its easy to make me laugh).
One of my favorite funny moments from any anime ever was is Occult Academy, when Smile beats up Kozue (a girl whose body was taken over by a ghost) and yells “Don’t get cocky just because you’re a little possessed!” as he wails on her. Its not sophisticated or satirical, but it's great, funny writing.
I have seen the anime in question (Seikimatsu Occult), and understand that comedy is a highly subjective thing, though my point was more about why Gainax is doing what they're doing then the results, though those are important too. Mostly, I just wanted to give a cheesy monologue about the relationship between art and artists.

Haha! I honestly thought you were quoting a movie until I got a few lines in. It was very well done.
And yeah, I guess Gainax can be silly if they want, it's their money. :p

True but they'll make it back when it's released there and licensed in the US.

This show actually still seems incredibly polarizing depending on where you go and what the episodes are about at any given time, although I have seen some absolutely incredible about faces from some folks who are now claiming to have always enjoyed it (ahhh the joy of blogs), but who previously shat all over it. I personally have enjoyed it since the very first episode since again I actually find it regularly funny which is a sad rarity for anime comedies these days. There's a lot to be said for the delivery style and what goes in to making the humour, something you can see is carefully considered with each segment. Calling it all toilet humour, sex and gross out jokes is frankly selling the show a bit short since it's kind of an ensemble piece of quirky writing, zany visuals, rapid fire voice acting cues, pop culture references, one-liners and an overall attempt at cross-culture appeal.
About that last bit on cross-culture appeal, as a comparison when you look at the otaku in-joke comedies like for example Lucky Star or Pani Poni Dash that are among the most common forms of anime comedy today, the jokes are typically targeted to only one demographic, the hard core Japanese otaku. The jokes just can't translate well to any other demographic and still retain their full force of referential humour (it's like expecting a conservative senior citizen to "get" The Daily Show)....however innuendo's and references to franchises like Transformers can have an appeal to both Westerner's and Japanese otaku. In fact I'm hard pressed to think of a more major international franchise that North America and Japan have an awareness of than Transformers which was pretty big in both countries during the 80's and early 90's so I can't say I was surprised to see a segment like the episode 07-1 one.
I can't see this not getting picked up for American release and possibly Adult Swim play and will be very curious to see what kind of cast they will put together for it.

:heh:
I'm sure my username makes it fairly obvious, but I'm a huge South Park fan, too. And even I'll freely admit that their "brilliant social commentary" usually distills down to some variation of "look how stupid [subject] is" with a healthy dose of straight-up parody, usually of something completely unrelated (a year from now, after everyone has forgotten about the whole Nike LeBron James thing, if it takes even nearly that long, people are going to be very confused during certain parts of the last three-part storyline). I think the SP comparison is more apt than you might think.

I took care of that a page or two ago. Some whippersnapper whose mama probably wasn't even out of elementary school when I was watching Transformers made the mistake of thinking "mecha" just means "having robots", and I was so flustered at the thought of great personalities like Starscream or Optimus being lumped together with some effete masked siscon's prissy revenge wagon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_Suit_Gundam_Wing) or even a 300-foot penis extension (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Big_O) (and those are two mecha series I actually liked) that I couldn't get out much more than a perfunctory denial. I've calmed down a bit since then, so maybe I'll make a proper rebuttal...

That's kind of an ultra-generic interpretation of what can be done with the mecha genre? :eyebrow:
Thought to be fair if that's how you think of mecha I tend to think of Transformers G1 as being a rather messy show about gathering an extraterrestrial resource where everything is shoddily animated and like 3 characters actually stand out....one of whom has a whole bunch of clones since again the animation was cheap as balls. This coming from someone who watched the show as a kid for a bit and could just never get into it even then cause I couldn't follow any of what the hell was going on and sometimes neither could the screenplay writers since characters would sometimes teleport all over the damn place between scenes. It didn't get any easier with time either when I decided to borrow a buddies series collection.
That said I loved the 1986 movie....probably cause it actually had a budget, plot, character development and that awesome rocking 80's soundtrack with Stan Bush and Vince DiCola songs. I also kind of liked the Canadian produced Beast Wars cartoons which again benefited from a budget, character development (I ask anybody who saw that show if they don't remember Dinobot's arc as a standout) and stuff actually happening that resulted in real consequences carrying over from week to week with each episode. Though again nobody ever seemed to just stay dead.....

I actually didn't really like the first episode. Not that it was bad, I was just never big into transformers, and it was just so damn random, more random than normal for this show. 2nd episode was great though. :p
Also, I don't know if it's been said, but did anyone else notice one of the sweets shown in the beggining of the 2nd episode (12:12) looked like a Behelit from berserk. Was pretty random. :heh:

Lots of foolishly foolish foolishness going on here.
Anyway, I may have never followed the Transformers all too much, but somehow, I could tell that it was very well tailored to it's fans. There's a whole lot of little touches that make it feel like a retro throwback, specifically those hilariously cheesy laser guns. PEW PEW!!
Also, have this:
http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/9218/pantyandstockingwithgar.jpg
but enough of that, how 'bout that 2nd part?
One thing I know about Gainax is their affinity with Giant Robots, but if there is one other thing I associate them with, that would be fanservice.
Most other shows with blatant fanservice resort to "neko meidos" or accidental gropings to please their audience.
But not Gainax; they don't do any of that. They make their fanservice into an artform. Besides the montage of countless outfits (fanartists are gonna go crazy with this) causing mass pileups and elderly stripshows, the final stripping scene delivered plenty of cheesecake without breaking the moment, like a lot of fanservicey moments do. It was absurd, but felt like a natural progression of sorts; at least in the context of these girls anyway.
Final word: Kneesocks is adorable in a moustache, and Brief getting Panty's panties, assuming he won that auction, will become a plot device later on. Calling it here.

Both parts of Episode 7 were great, part 1 was the best though, with it's massive Transformers references, I had wondered while watching, if those were the original japanese voices for Optimus and Megatraon, looks like I was right. Anyone else feel the need to find a Megatron Bobblehead, and mod it into Stockingtron?
Part 2 was also great, lots anime up scenes in this episode, saddly not one of the girls in their Bunny Suits. I guess I understood the last scene wrong, I thought Briefs, was selling the panties
Transformers + PSWG + TTGL + fanservice = GAINAX >_>LOL

Yah. I'm a bit surprised a large group of people liked the second episode more than the first one, although in a sense I'm not really surprised. Goes to show how sexualized media in general has become in the last decade.
There wasn't a single joke in the second part that made me laugh. Panty and Stocking make a mess of their jobs. How funny. Now they're stripping for cash. Hilarious. No, no it's not hilarious. They're naked. We get it. Please stop.

I don't know what forum you're reading, though most of the people here only commented on the first Transformers half. That tells me they preferred that one. I know i did.

Or that some people didn't watch transformers when they were younger so they couldn't get any of the references that were in the first part?
edit:though I too would say the majority of people preffered part 1
The thing I see more here (and on other non-TF-themed sites) is that even among those who did like the first part, there are still a lot who don't seem to have have been watching (or reading, in the case of the various comic series) anything TF-related in a while; those who might have watched the G1 cartoon in the 80s, or perhaps Beast Wars in the 90s, but none of the more recent stuff. I might be reading things wrong, though.
In any case, it's not like there aren't divisions within the current fandom over which series or medium they do or do not like; and how many of them like any kind of anime, let alone a series as loaded as this one.

I'm guessing all the Otsuka written episodes will feature the Demon sisters in a different (but equally moronic) scheme to regain favor with their master. Just like how in the first half the Otsuka written episodes mostly used the relationship between Panty and Stocking to tell each story. Should be good fun. :)

This soundtrack can seriously not come soon enough.
Both Yoko Hikasa and Hitomi Nabatame as guest stars this week. Gainax is going all out on getting big names for the cast. The first half was alright, with the book deal being the best part. It's good to have the Demons as recurring nemeses; their plans are getting more elaborate.
The second half, however, was excellent. Monkey Lawyer wins the show. "Tom Croose" and the various other characters, as well as the gladiatorial nature of the show, were also fun, but seriously, monkey lawyer. That's one smart simian.
Classic Zombie film references, right down to the over the top language. I seriously lost count of the amount of swear words used. Sex shop was a nice addition, with those weapons.
Next episode was clearly madness, with that poll dancing scene easily being the highlight of this weeks episode. Shinichiro Miki was a nice addition though, along with the epic Monkey lawyer.

The first half was ok, I enjoyed how the random side characters got decapitated immediately after turning, no sympathy at all. The guy who was trying to nobly sacrifice himself but wound up taking too long was funny as well.
Part 2 was great though, first episode I've thought was legitimately funny. Phoenix Wright Monkey's sketchy/gritty art style was fantastic, and I loved the random electrocutions. Panty and Stocking may be the protagonists, but they definitely deserve the pain that came their way this episode.
Does anyone know why the ghost screamed "Carpenter!" at the end? Is that just another famous director/actor Gainax is referencing?
I think the first half needs a sequel. The exaggerated Engrish in this part was very funny. ;)
Also, did anyone notice that there really *is* a gun shop? Next to the sex shop, of course.

Interesting details I noticed:
- The reality show host in ep15 is not just Scanty in disguise. He's a real television personality in the Pansto world. Way back in ep2, the exact same guy is the crazy news announcer in the helicopter. Same seiyuu too: Shinichiro Miki.
- Tom Croose is voiced by Toshiyuki Morikawa. He actually dubs Tom Cruise's voice in the Japanese language releases of many his Hollywood films.
And yes, I also noticed there's actually a gun shop, next to the sex shops. I love subtle visual gags like that. Just like how in ep12, the asteroid that crashes in the church actually has a real door. But another door opens out of nowhere anyway. :)

In ep14, Garter is subtitled as saying "According to Buddhist legend". This is incorrect, Garter says Buuduukyou (ブードゥー教) which is Voodooism. Buddhism would be Bukkyou (ぶっきょう). So he is saying that the method to turn Ghosts into Zombies is derived from Voodoo legend, which makes sense because the demon sisters are behind it. Instead, with a simple mistranslation, they turned a funny gag into something that would potentially be very offensive to some people. Sigh. :(

The kind of people who would find that offensive deserve to be offended. Of course, they probably wouldn't be watching this show... Plus, I'm sure someone out there just got offended at your suggestion that (Satanic?) demons using Voodoo is somehow natural... ^_^
And frankly it's funnier the other way. It makes more sense as "Voodoo", certainly, but it's not funny. Voodoo zombies have been done to death (no pun intended). When I saw it as "Buddhist", I thought it was just another joke. "Buddhist Zombies." An absurd cross-pollination of cultures, along the lines of "Catholic Mecha (http://www.scificatholic.com/2008/02/mecha-manga-bible-heroes.html)", or "Ninja Rabbi (http://www.madblast.com/funny/4646_circumcising-ninja-rabbi.html)". Because it's funny...? Since that's the whole point of the series...?
And I'm not defending it. Clearly that's what he says, and clearly a mistake was made. It's just a fortuitously funny mistake...
And two mistakes over the course of eight episodes is hardly "poor translation". Especially when one is simply a misread kanji (in a name, no less) and the other is the omission of a single syllable. Those are the kind of mistakes even a native speaker could conceivably make.

The poor translation is in regards to this specific line. And you ARE defending it by suggesting that making mistakes is completely fine as long as it's funny. So I guess since the show is so visually driven, someone could make up all the lines instead of translating, and it would STILL be funny (in some cases, maybe even funnier), and that would be fine?
I dunno, I point out mistakes because I like to bring to attention lapses in quality. Like you said, in general the localization has been pretty solid, so when mistakes like this do happen, I think it needs to be highlighted so it can be addressed. Obviously the people working on it care about their work, or it would be much worse. I don't think they would shrug off their own mistakes just because its "funny" honestly.
If no one cares about mistakes though, then I won't bother bringing it up again, and it won't matter if non-Japanese literate people think that the wrong guy is working on a certain episode, or if a gag was completely off base from the writer's intention. Whatever.
I'm all for translation mistakes being pointed out, so thanks duckroll. Like this occasion, thanks to your post i now know the translation for Garter's speech was incorrect, and what should have been there. You've basically just fixed a mistake for we viewers.
CR are usually quite good when it comes to translations, so it's a shame that little mistakes like this can happen, though thankfully it wasn't something everyone would notice, so it didn't totally ruin the scene.

I think I can forgive them for screwing up one or two lines in a season that may or may not ruin a gag for someone. God forbid these people doing free translations for our viewing pleasure screw up a syllable every now and then.
I can just imagine some poor guy, enjoying the episode then happening across said error, having to stop the episode just to make sure he wasn't seeing things. he's so turned off by said error that he's completely out of the episode now, he doesn't even bother to finish it, it really doesn't matter at this point. This must be known to everyone, to the internets!

Like I said, I feel they ARE doing good work, which is why I am even bothering to bring up a mistake when I see it, because the localization is generally great enough that most people (even myself) can take it for granted at times when not paying full attention to the Japanese audio. I'm not saying "OMG THEY SUCK" here, and if it comes off that way, it's not what I intended. As for doing it for free though, I'm not sure where you got this idea. MX Media was commissioned to translate and subtitle Panty and Stocking by Crunchyroll and Kadokawa. They are a professional localization studio.

Was wondering when someone would mention that...
It reminded me more of Nice Holystone (http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=character&charid=1787), whip was her weapon of choice.

Episode 8 was awesome yet again, What was the full title for part a? I couldn't read the moon runes for the first part of the title. The zombie movie references in this episode were top notch. Part B, was full of parodies as well, I'm glad I'm not the only one to notice the ghosts looked a lot like Ren and Stimpy, but also some of the crowd looked a bit like characters from that show, along with looking like the 4-Koma cheering guys. The Monkey Lawyer also reminded me of the "evil monkey in the closet" from Family Guy, as well as Phoenix Write

I actually thought that the weapon scene they were making a parody of was from the Dusk Til Dawn film. The whip, the makeshift cross with the shotgun the Garterbelt was using, and the dildo in the jackhammer were from that film. All they needed was a gun to come out from a crotch mechanism and I would have been floored laughing.

It's a (to me) obvious reference to The Thing, a horror sci-fi movie from 1982, directed by John Carpenter.

I think they fixed the translation error because I saw Voodooism instead of Buddhism when I first watched it.
Man.. So many good things happened in this episode. Whenever people think of what would happen if zombies attacked and they had to defend themselves, it's usually "Oh, let's go to Sam's Club or Costco because they have everything we need to survive".
The last thing you think of is a sex shop. ;3
Gainax: They work in mysterious ways... 4.9/5 <3 I cracked up like I never cracked before in the first half, the second half, more or less, overall good, but I feel eager to move on with the plot more and the spinoffs less. Still fantastic though.

But elegant gothic lolita sluts are moe~ !
The first part, aside from the return of Master G, was largely a standard fare beachward bound episode. Didn't stop it from being fun, though. A volleyball match between Angels and Demons was great, and I wonder if that insta-Ghost potion will have consequences later. Like for the finale.
The second segment was different, but in a good way. A loose Ghost who can only be defeated by love. I thought I wouldn't appreciate it much at first, but it turned out to be bizarrely heartwarming. Like a much cruder version of ef. It almost made Panty look like she cared for her sister, which is a feat in itself. A nice package of episodes all around.
First part was pretty hot. Especially that sun cream scene.
Second part was amazing, seriously. I should have known Gainax would do something like this, and boy am i glad they did. The whole situation was max dawwww, plus in love Stocking is super adorable. Best episode so far, easily.

The beach episode was nice, but the second episode was easily the better of the two. I was genuinely sad at the ending, and extremely surprised at my own reaction.
Also, Stocking has the worst tastes.

Really not feeling ep16. The first episode written by Otsuka which I didn't really enjoy much at all. I blame Nishigori's storyboarding for this entirely. His work on ep3 was lackluster too. I don't really like how he paces the scenes and stuff, feels off and unbalanced. Visually kinda boring too, which is unexpected considering how Ryochimo directed the episode. :/
Ep17 was really, really good though. Totally the last thing I expected from the series. It's really odd that they even attempted this sort of story in a series like this, but somehow it really worked. It shouldn't have worked but it did. Really good directing, storyboarding, writing, and great visual design. Really liked it.

Wow, Stocking just made millions of men go "WWRRRRRRRYYYYYYY!!!!!????" with that last episode. She's such a sweets addict that her going for walking poo was just a :twitch: WTF moment. Pretty serious for an ep of this show, in it's own special way... :heh:
But beach ep rrrrrruuuules. I was supremely excited (and supremely disappointed) when the Daemon sisters ran out on their stripping punishment. Bonus pts for the South Park animation as well.
And also, it's always the younger sister that's the more popular - both Stocking and Kneesocks have insane amounts of fanart already.
If someone ask me about Gainax, i would say that the 2nd part of the episode is Gainax in a few minutes. From the absurd of the situation to the final epicness. For the first time in the series i felt that they were dead serious, even Chuck, when Panty told him about the seriousness of the situation...
 Gainax
Jesus. The animation on the first part of the episode was a lot below the average level of the series. Or is it just me?
The second part seems to have caused many confronted opinions, but I personally loved it. Stocking is a M-type, it seems.

I never thought of defeating a Demon by love. =)
Someone already brought this up before in this thread but I'll do it again.
Panty and Stocking are Chaotic Good in Dungeons & Dragons terms while the Daemon Sisters are Lawful Evil. While the first try to do good while completely disregarding rules the latter try to work within the rules to reach their nefarious objectives.

Yet, in the end, the Demon Sisters end up cheating their way out of a pinch. But, I guess that's all part of the game.
Lol @ South park animation style.
Wow, Stocking just made millions of men go "WWRRRRRRRYYYYYYY!!!!!????" with that last episode. She's such a sweets addict that her going for walking poo was just a :twitch: WTF moment. Remember, this is the same girl who found ghosts of a certain goo that comes out of men to be cute. :p
Seeing the OST album art made me burst out laughing. Well played, Gainax.
Mahoromatic shoutout ftw!
Hardly needs to be said again, but the second half was so bizarrely heartwarming... ^ω^

Well, to be fair, the 'certain goo' and the 'walking poo' are two totally different things here. :heh: I'd almost hate to see Kneesocks' idea of an 'ideal man'...

Episode 9 was pretty good, the south park moment in part a was unexpected, Gainex likes to put them in their shows it seems, I wonder if the sign saying "Charch" was on purpose though? Part b was a surprisingly serious episode for this show, was the ghost a parody that I'm missing? he seems familiar

I see your point. :)

I only got time to watch it now sadly, but yes the second episode was adorable DAWWW gold. One of the more unexpected yet pleasurable episodes from the series.
Well, love is blind :D
I think it was just an extension of her BDSM behavior (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BDSM) (link NSFW). The beach scene with the octopus was a hint. She just gravitated to someone who treats her like crap. She's a sick one.

That behavior was revealed in episode 3a. :D She is one kinky girl :naughty:

great episode, both has plenty of laughs, and while the second part was good, I couldn't help but keep laughing at the poo ring and the like, i just couldn't take it seriously. :heh:
I can't believe I didn't notice this until just now:
