Chapter 1: First Contact
Nanoha gave Subaru a sour look after she said she quit. It was unlike her to do that but then again, Nanoha did push her to the brink during training that Subaru almost attempted to hit her. Unacceptable.
“Okay, Subaru, go get some rest. Perhaps you can think it over clearly after that.” said Nanoha.
“Yeah yeah, I know.” Subaru said while she gave Nanoha a sarcastic salute. Nanoha wanted to rebuke her for insubordinance when Subaru turned around and walked away. Maybe she was too harsh on her. Maybe she’ll go talk to Subaru about it later.
Later that evening, Nanoha sat down at the cafeteria to watch the news. Lately, there were reports of TSAB ships being destroyed near the Solar System. Nanoha wondered if Chrono Harlaown had the right mind to explore there because besides Earth and Mars, there were no other hospitable places suitable for colonization. Speaking of Earth-
“Nanoha, can you turn around for a moment?” Nanoha turned around to find Fate standing behind her with a few pictures. “I want you to look at this” said Fate. There was a tone of confusion in her voice. Nanoha took the pictures and looked at it. It showed a blurry outline of a large object, most likely man-made. It was kind of blockish yet intimidating to look at. “What are these suppose to be, Fate? Boxes?” she asked. “That is what I want to know too. One of the ships sent to scout the Solar System took this before being destroyed.”
“That is certainly wrong. Our ships could survive firefights but this is an exception. Could it be that humans have mastered space superiority?”
“I doubt it, Nanoha. No race could just advance like that without going through decades of trial and error. Then again, only one race lives in the Solar System and that is your race.”
Nanoha winced. Humans mastering space ship production in just years, not decades? She has been absent too long from Earth so she was not updated. It’s impossible, astronomical in fact, which this could happen. “So what is Chrono’s next course of action?” Nanoha asked? “He decided to stop scouting Solar System for now. I’m still wondering though. If Chrono knew there were inhabitants I Sol, why did he bother going there in the first place? I thought he never bothered to even look at the humans”
“Perhaps he thinks he could bully the humans because they are weak.” Nanoha joked. The two gave false laughs and stopped. Chrono came in and stared at them.
“What was this bully thing I heard?” he said with a sarcastic tone. Nanoha laughed nervously and said “Well, we were just…uhh…joking! Yeah, we were just joking that you love to bully the uh…new mages!” Fate noded her head and grinned. “New mages? But I don’t train them. You do.” said Chrono. “Anyway, I’m just pondering over a few things I want answering as soon as possible. How did the inhabitants on Non-goverened Planet 97 get so advanced and what kind of weapon are they using? Do you girls know?” Fate scratched her head and sighed “Your guess is just as good as ours, sir.”
Chrono shook his head and left.
That night, Subaru took a stroll near the water edge. Cool night wind blew in her face and it felt soothing. She took a stone and threw it into the sea when Nanoha came behind her.
“Subaru, can we have a talk?” “Leave me alone” muttered Subaru but Nanoha came up to her anyway. “Listen, have you ever felt my pain before?” asked Nanoha. “I’ve seen it through the vids months ago before Jail Scaglietti’s attack. I know it is invading your privacy but I’ve seen it anyway. I know my pain does not match yours but that does not mean you can push me around, Captain Nanoha.” said Subaru bitterly. “Yes I know but it is my duty. If I just let you go on willy nilly, what can you succeed? Think about it, Subaru, if it were not for the vigorous trainings I’ve put myself through when I was younger, I would not be so succeesful. I am who I am now because of that and I intend to teach my trainees the value of hardwork. Get what I mean? I have taught Teana that lesson before so I’m teaching you now.” Subaru wiped a tear away from her eyes. Nanoha patted her shoulder and smiled.
“So I assume you’re alright with it?” asked Nanoha smilingly. Subaru gave a slight nod and smiled back. She saluted. “Good, go get some rest then. Our next training will begin tomorrow. Remember, even if we were disbanded, that does not mean we don’t look out for each other anymore.” Nanoha said. The next morning, Nanoha trained a group of new trainees when Fate contacted her. “Nanoha, come to Saint Church now. Chrono says that it is urgent.”
“How urgent?”
“Code Red urgent. It might just lead to an open war.”
Nanoha shuddered. Cold sweat ran down her head and felt tingles in her spine. Open war was the worst thing the Mid-Childans were ill-prepared for since the tight military budget was discouraging anyone from joining the military, coupled with the number of mages KIAed during the attack Jail Scaglietti launched. Military power was not sufficient. Even if the Terrans were weak, their military should be much larger than the Mid-Childan’s.
“I’m on my way.” said Nanoha as she closed the holocom. “Okay, trainees, you are dismissed for now. I have an urgent meeting to attend.”
At Saint Church, Chrono paced in his office while watching a video transmission sent by one Fleet Admiral Kiethon Marshall. It originated from Non-governed Planet 97. He was older than Chrono by 5 years but he looked like he had 20 years of battle experience. The dangerous look on his face suggested that.
“This is Fleet Admiral Kiethon Marshall of Terran Space Force Command located in Okinawa, Japan. To whoever intruded our territory, we have traced a signal to your homeworld and we have our sights on you. You have violated Terran Space Protocol by intruding without official permission. We have the authority to use force against you for your intentions are unknown. However, we will send a negotiator to hear your explanation for your intrusion as we try not to risk war. But if I find my negotiator killed or your explanation is unable to convince us, you better prepare yourself. Kiethon signing out.”
Chrono tapped his foot and scratched his head. “What say you, Fate? This Kiethon guy does not seem to know our military strength.”
Fate looked down and replyed “Lets wait for Nanoha, then we decide whether to discuss this with the top brass or take things into our hands.”
[B]What is your verdict? Should they choose
a) Let the military top brass do the talking
b) Meet the negotiator themselves, or
c) Kill him

EDIT: As per request in FFC, the banner for the 500th post has been completed and PM'ed to our mascot.
"Are you sure about this?" Fate's uneasy voice faltered when she looked around the corner to where Nanoha was sitting. The girl was eating lunch on the weekend by herself while happily reading a book on magical techniques.
"Sure I'm sure," Hayate confirmed, looking over Fate one last time. A very tight black mini skirt hugged the girl's hips before revealing black stocking clad legs that went into heels. A fashionable matching top covered the girl's upper half while still showing off a mass of cleavage for the world to see. The hair was left flowing completely and dark sunglasses covered her eyes. To top it off, a gold bracelet was on her slender wrist and a purse was carried as well. "You look like a buisness woman, she'll fawn all over you!"
Fate took a deep breath and nodded, getting one last thumbs-up before she rounded the corner and began to strut her way over to the girl. Her hips wagged with each step, breasts bouncing just enough to get the attention of the males around her. One man choked on his coffee as she passed and another walked into a lamp post while looking at her butt. When she got over to Nanoha, she noticed that the girl was now on her cell phone so she bent over lightly, her breasts begging for attention. "Nanoha," Her voice was slightly husky and she pulled down her sunglasses just lightly to look at her.
"Really!?" Nanoha jumped up, shocking Fate into standing properly again. "Just now? I'll be right there!" She hung up the phone and looked at Fate excitedly. "Ah, Fate-chan, Suzuka's cat just had her kittens! I'm going to go see!" With that, she ran off happily. Fate blinked, slowly opening her mouth as if she were about to say something but closed it back shortly after.
"Hey there sexy," A voice made her turn to look up at a group of college students eying her chest. "What say you come to our frat party tonight? We could... ease some of the stress from the work day."
Fate glared hard. "I'm sixteen!" The men jumped back in shock, staring at her fora few more moments before moving off and away from her. "Mou, I knew this wouldn't work!" Turning, she tried to go back to Hayate but she tripped over her heels and crashed to the ground. "Ugh!" As she tried to stand on her heels, she unconsciously wiggled her butt in front of a man who couldn't help but whistle at her. "Animals!" She shrieked loudly, blushing and hurrying off.
To be continued!
Nice, thanks for continuing this fic Sa-nyan ^^
So next time is for plan B? It would be better for Fate-chan if Hayate is not behind it again, but I kind of want to see more of her marvelous ideas xD

Well, after going back and reading the responses I got (anyone can feel free to chime after this, though...), it seems option 2 is the most popular. I was really leaning that way anyway; saves me the trouble of having to figure out how the heck Raising Heart could be converted into a gun. :twitch:

GO 500!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And for fun here's a short
Spoiler for ???!Hayate:
When there's no one left who will take up the call? Who will help those with no other options? The answer is a name, Hayate Yagami, private investigator. When you turn the corner and go down the street make sure to look above the stores for you might just find you need help yourself.
*Insert op here XD :D*
Hayate sighed, she hadn't had ajob in weeks. It seemed no one needed her anymore, she continued playing her fifteenth game of computer solitaire within the hour. “Boring. So boring.” The room reflected her boredom, the only decoration on the walls was a calender long out of date, the blinds were pulled making the room look nothing short of solitary confinement with a desk.
“You know you could go looking for cases,” an annoyed voice advised her from the side.
Hayate looked at her friend, “But that would require extra work and I'm lazy, Vita”
At Hayate's feet someone snorted in agreement.
Hayate looked under her desk at the big blue wolf-dog she was using as a footrest, “Remember who feeds you Zafira.”
Zafira chortled in a doggish way and merely wagged his tail a bit.
Vita crossed her arms and sat on the edge of Hayate's desk, “If you don't have clients then you won't eat!”
“It's not that bad Vita,” Hayate rubbed the back of her head, “It's not like I have no money at all.”
“You're not going another day with out eating!” Vita protested.
“Now now there's no need for you to wo-”
“E-Excuse me but... are you Detective Yagami?”
Hayate and Vita looked up, standing in the doorway was a man in perhaps his early thirties, his neat blond hair was tied back in long pony tail, a t-shirt and pair of jeans adorning his wimpy frame. All and all the glasses wearing man looked like the sort to be a librarian or a computer man.
“That's me, can I help you?” Hayate folded her hands in front of her. Vita slid off of the desk and stood behind her.
“Mm yeah, I was wondering if you could... find someone,” he couldn't meet her in the eye, too embarrassed.
Hayate nodded solemnly. “Do you have a photo?”
“Yeah,” he reached into his pocket, taking out a well worn photo. He placed it down on Hayate's desk before backing off, “Her name is Nanoha. Nanoha... Takamachi.”
Vita peered over Hayate's shoulder, “She's pretty, she your girlfriend?” Vita eyed him as if there was no way she would date him.
“No. It's not like that I'm just... trying to make sure she's alright you know.”
Hayate put the photo in her own pocket, “Alright Mr...”
“Scrya. Yuuno Scrya.”
“Alright come back in a week Mr. Scrya, I'll have found her by then,” Hayate motioned for the man to leave, “Payment upon completion please.”
He thanked her again then left.
“Are you really taking this case Hayate?” Vita hopped away.
“Yeah,” she shrugged, “It can't be too hard. Just a google search away.”
---
Three days later
“Where the hell is this woman? There's nothing on her anywhere! She's not on the web, not in any of the phonebooks around the area I'm thinking this woman doesn't exist,” Vita grunted from behind Hayate. Zafira rested his head on Hayate's arm rest, watching Hayate's computer screen.
“This? This is all stuff I'm doing for appearances sake,” Hayate laughed lightly, “I just have to do one thing to find her.” Hayate ran her fingers over the keyboard then pressed enter. “See right there.”
Vita's eyes grew wide with realization. “Ah you mean... oh. That makes sense.”
“You know. It's sweet,” Hayate looked out the now open window, “I hope that maybe... I can be like that one day.”
“You want to be-”
“No. Just that sweet.”
---
“If you'd be so kind as to come with me Mr. Scrya,” Hayate opened the door, Zafira's leash in one hand a bouquet of flowers in the other, Vita behind her. “We're going to take a little field trip.”
“Then you found her?” Yuuno sounded very hopeful and eager.
“No. I couldn't find Ms. Takmachi, come with me,” she walked out the door with Zafira.
“You'd better come,” Vita nodded. “Hayate's always right.” She took his hand and led him out the door.
“A-ah alright.”
Hayate's goal seemed to be a rather depressing one, the city graveyard. “Right this way.” She stepped into the beautifully placed cemetery.
“She won't be in a place like this...” Yuuno shook his head. “There's no reason for her to be.”
“Oh really? You'd be surprised,” Hayate shrugged, “People don't forget things that easy. See,” Hayate motioned with her head.
Yuuno started to speak but his words caught in his throat. “N-nanoha... Vivio...” Tears filled the poor man's eyes. “Why... why are you here?”
“Mrs. Scrya's only human and we humans have a tendency to love for long times and not get over that love so easy. Did you really think one whole year would make her forget you?” Hayate smiled at the man. The three people and the dog looked down at the brown haired woman and the young girl by her side.
“Say hello to daddy, Vivio,” Nanoha told her daughter.
“Hi Daddy,” the little girl waved, “I've been real good you know! I love you!”
“We're doing good,” Nanoha reached down and patted the tombstone, “I love you Yuuno. Don't worry you're girls are fine.”
“I love you two so much,” Yuuno wiped his eyes. “And I will forever.” He started to shimmer and fad. “Thank you Hayate.”
Hayate merely smiled, “It's my job, don't worry bout the payment it's no big deal.” Zafira barked in agreement.
“Thank you, thank you, thank you.” He faded away leaving only a gold chain in his place. Zafira padded over to the chain and picked it up in his mouth and laid it at Hayate's feet.
“That was incredibly cheesy,” Vita rolled her eyes.
Hayate picked up the chain with a chuckle, “Very but sweet in a way.”
“You have a weird profession and why'd you bring those?” Vita nodded towards the flowers in her hand.
“Oh I thought I'd pay a visit.” Hayate headed down the hill now that Yuuno's family had left and put down the gold chain and locket at the foot of the grave. She sighed, “too bad I'm too nice.”
“It doesn't count if you say it yourself you know.”
Hayate ignored her and crossed through a few rows of graves. “Ah here you are.” Hayate tenderly laid the flowers at the foot of an older grave, one that was at least a decade old. “It got dusty.”
“That's because you don't clean it enough!” Vivio stomped around. “It's my grave damnit take care of it!”
“But coming out here's such a pain.”
“If you weren't so lazy you wouldn't be poor!”
“You're such a mean spirited ghost why ever was a cute girl like me haunted by you?”
“Screw you!”
“Well these things only require cleaning every year or so.”
“It's been four!”
“Oppsie?”

Hayate the ghost hunter?
That's actually a very original idea. And I like the bickering between Vita, Hayate, and Zafira (even if Zafira is only a dog, you get the feeling he can bicker back). It's very original and very funny. Are you planning to write more, Sword?

Spoiler for From 400 to 500 there are too many worlds:
“Anyway,” Fate said as she stood in the frame of the door. “What are you doing?”
“Preparing for a party, cant you see?” Hayate responded as she was floating near the door, to place the start of a banner that read something like “Con-tul-fo-eac-500-es” which meant nothing to her.
“And what are we celebrating?” she asked curious at what was the special occasion that kept Nanoha and Vivio for welcoming her after months of not seeing each other.
“You don’t know?” Fate shook her head. “But it’s so simple that even Vivio knows,” then Hayate stopped. “Have you really gone that long?”
“It was only two, three months away.” she answered, trying to defend herself.
“So that´s why. Well that´s no big deal, I can make a quick tour with you so you can understand.” Taking Fate´s hand she quickly ran into a table. Sitting her down, she started to say.
“So your little vampirism continued, with you knowing more about the new girl of Britain. There was a try on a crossover between us and the most gainax series ever. Vita got a new adventure, Vivio eventually showed up. Your mother and Nanoha-chan´s mother started a romance. I and Carim started a romance too, with politics and Vivio and Zafira on the background. Your Landscaper work got a nice welcome. Your artist side came to be known as you wooed Nanoha once again. Shamal was a secret agent, can you believe that? The guys started to tell bedtime stories to Vivio. She liked them all. Teana and Nanoha fell in love and escaped from the police. Nanoha, Signum, Tomoyo, Erio and I went to a mission in outer space. Yuuno got bionic implants can you believe it? Childhoods were cracked but that tends to happen. Syn and Vivio told us their story… you will know Syn soon enough. We started a really nice romance or continued I am not so sure. Yuuno got a protagonist role and he is in a dating sim or something, I am not sure about the details. Vivio was going to star in another adventure and you are going to appear with your vampirism. The reapers attacken once again and we were overpowered again. Arisa and Suzuka got their time to shine, Nanoha went medieval on us and started a campaign to save your sister. People started to appear and fight and we got involved. You got so cute and innocent while Nanoha made honor to her white devil nickname. Zest got killed after finding about who was his son. Yuuno, Vita and Vivio were sold to the Testarossa manor. You and Nanoha were separated by space, literally. A virus attacked and made zombie people. Zafira saved Nanoha from dying. There some short but awesome adventures too” She stopped the long list and returned to Fate. “Now you remember?”
The expression on her face couldn’t be described as she said three words. “WHAT THE HELL?”
---
The banner just said something simple.
“Congratulations for reaching 500 pages fanfiction thread” Keep going guys.
Do YOU remember?

Now then! I need a vote.
I was discussing some aspects of my AU over with Satashi, and an old idea of mine was brought up again. Major thanks to Satashi, BTW, for going over it with me and helping out. ^__^
Now, then...
The idea is that Nanoha, while still frail and only able to handle a gun, is still capable of using some form of magic, just to keep a connection between her canon persona and her AU persona. This can be done one of two ways:
Option 1: My original idea, in which Raising Heart is somehow attached to the gun/reconfigured into a gun. Nanoha is capable of channeling magic through her body and into the gun, thus firing bullets loaded with magic; a kind of mini version of Divine Buster or Starlight Breaker without the major kick. The downside is doing this leaves her weak and shaky, so she can't do it too often.
Option 2: Satashi's suggestion, in which Nanoha creates sets of magic bullets for her gun. However, she can only create one set at a time and can only fire at least two of them before she starts to get worn out. Kind of like what Shamal does with the catridges for A's, actually.
...
Anyway, I can't decide which to go with. >__>
What do you guys think?
Well you're already going with option two, and I agree. :heh: I don't know as much at it would be cool to see raising heart in a gun form, I don't really see how it would work.
Nanoha gave Subaru a sour look after she said she quit. It was unlike her to do that but then again, Nanoha did push her to the brink during training that Subaru almost attempted to hit her. Unacceptable.

It might, I repeat, just might lead to an open war.”
Military power wasn’t sufficient.
“What say you, Fate?”
Fate looked down and replyed “Lets wait for Nanoha, then we decide whether to discuss this with the top brass or take things into our hands.”
[B]What is your verdict? Should they choose
a) Let the military top brass do the talking
b) Meet the negotiator themselves, or
c) Kill him
You should pick a color for us to vote with that way it's easier to tell. I don't even know if there is any color left, with all these choose your own path stories. B although C is tempting (just for the lolz), I think it'd be too extreme. Also while I was reading, your story seemed a bit rushed and choppy. You might want to add in some transitions. I also find the way that Nanoha talks a little too formal. Some grammar mistakes but not a lot. The plot generally catches my attention because I'm wondering where this story is heading.

“Oppsie?”
Hayate Yagami, private investigator for ghosts and spooks of all sorts.
That was really sad, but sweet, but sad. Poor Yuuno, and Vita. But I do like GH!Hayate.
GO 500!!
Spoiler for Idea:
I have an idea to contribute to 500. One day, Nanoha and Fate switch uniforms as a social experiment and for fun. :p
That's what me and my sister did a couple days ago. :heh:
@Laith: That is win! :D I remember all of that.

Yep. XD
Yay for 500 pages!
Though activity is getting slow again. XD

Any particular reason for choosing a gun, as the weapon type as... Staff -> Gun is quite a major shift...
