GITS Stand Alone Complex

Finally an official announcement from Production IG!

There will indeed be a second season of Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex (Currently named "2nd GIG" in the traditional Engrish way)

http://www.production-ig.co.jp/anime/gits4/

From what I can translate it will be a further 26 episodes (as previously speculated) airing on the Skyperfec channel in Japan from January.

If anyone can further translate this page it would be appreciated.

There's also a 2nd GITS movie planned for spring 2004: GITS Innocence.

GITS SAC Tachikoma Specials

What are the Tachikoma Specials? I just started reading about Ghost in the Shell and was wondering what those were.

The Tachikoma specials are a series of short animations that appeared with the Japanese DVD releases of Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex.

To be exact they are (very) short parody clips featuring the Tachikoma AI tanks used by Section 9.

I strongly suspect that this series has already been licesned so please bear in mind we may not want to list the subs until it's been confirmed or not (and this also applies when asking where to find the subs)

Tabiree 2004-01-04 19:08

Well, considering that Bandai reported on Ghost in the Shell being extended by another 26 episodes, it'd be safe to say that it was already considered as part of the license when they bought the initial 26 episodes.

Or whatever

MwyC 2004-01-04 22:19

afaik, the second season isnt licensed yet
stand alone complex was licensed at ep 7 or so i believe

and no i dont think there are any subs so far
i would give it another week or so i think

DrWho2002 2004-01-04 23:06

I would think the series comes pre-licensed, wouldn't you all? That was the case for the first series, and Bandai had to tell fansubbers to stop, so I don't think it would have changed for this one.

Mephisto03 2004-01-05 01:14

They probab;y had a deal for the first season which was for 52 eps but instead they cut to 26 to double the production cost income for those 26, which is why they look so good.

I'm sure it'll be picked up again very soon seeing the success (I'm not for sure how the japanese public took it, but i'm sure it was good) of the first season and the second seaosn looking very good right now it'll only be the matter of a meeting.

I sure hope to see someone pick this up no matter licensed or not, sorry but its to damn good to wait for them to finish the series then wait even longer for official dvds over here on the states. box set of course.

It was licenced in production. Bandai said they had the licence way before it even aired on tv. Then we had the whole farce of Cartoon Network claiming they had the broadcast licence (they didnt) and that they planned to air it very close to the japanese dates.
As for the second series, bandai came out and said it had been extended, hence the delay with the dvds.... i think you can safely add that as licenced.

GITS: SAC is surefire $$$$ making in US licensing so I pretty it is already marked for licensing in the beginning.

Bandai partial co-funded the production from what I understand. Anyway CN jumped the gun, but they have the rights to the series anyway. They plan on airing SAC sometime in the summer.

Well I have it with english subs. Only problem is its extremely rough and needs to be touched up. Basically its a decent refrence for anyone who would take it on, but i'm not about to give it out for people to try to or even a release on the caliber of people just needing something.
