well our journey is comming to an end sadly and this ep just shows the reason behind all the conflict and the secrets of the past (bla bla) ~ it seem that its a classic case of over technological development which was sealed away and Alita is the final key to opening that door ~ Dominikov and pete is revealed to be cyborgs same as the two lolis and we even see a demonstration of their strengths and their true form...
Falis remembers her past and things move on from there...

now all that is left is the final showdown!

Spoiler for ep. 5 vs. manga:

It looks like they're really diverging from the manga storyline now. In particular, Dominikov turning out to be a technological cyborg seems at odds with the scene in the manga where he reveals to "Milano" that she was actually fated to die on the day of the coup d'etat.

It'll be interesting to see what happens, plotwise, if the manga ever continues.

Sadly without subs, the only thing I could really understand language wise was the line - 'why are you so kind (etc etc)?' the rest for me was just guesswork, but glad it was pretty close to Deathkillz's analysis (see spoiler above!)

What does Alisa and her brother talking about in ep 5? it looks like he is remembering thier time together...but does that mean there is a chance he will change and step on thier side...

and maybe falis and kaito fall in love?

The answer to you question is No. He is totally controlled by Cecilia, and ultimately Milano (Alita) has to kill him in order to save Alita (Falis). Milano stabs her brother when he is about to kill Alita with that big sword of his.

Well, I saw the raws, and my Japanese is not that good. However, he seemed pretty brainwashed to me; you know, he had "those" eyes. On the other hand, he could have been affected by something that happened at the moment, as he seems pretty normal in the current events (anime-wise). The important thing is that Milano had to kill him, otherwise he would have killed Alita.

huh..as we know Gonzo really likes to change and adjust from manga to anime... good example is kaze no stigma... i wonder if he will kill him the way manga say he will be...

Eh? Murder Princess is not a Gonzo production. The studio doing this OVA is Bee train (you know, the guys behind the .hack franchise, Noir, and currently, El Cazador).

This is in fact the first Bee Train production that is not directed by Kouichi Mashimo (he's directing El Cazador at the moment).

i guess...well i would be interested to know if he is brainwashed or if he is doing this with free will...

i think when this is all and done alita will have to say goodbye to milano just for that added spice called "heartbreak end"

Am a wee bit confused now but hooded-lady really is evil She must be pretty ancient too, I mean, it must be at least 10~15 years between her first and most recent meeting with Falis?

Episode 5 was slow paced, but it is natural since this one gives answers to the main mysteries surrounding that world and nicely setup that Alita and Falis's bond has grown-up beyond friendly affinity.

I mean this is BEE-Train, and it's famous series likeNoir, Madlax, El Cazador de la Bruja, and lastly Avenger, are starred with a couple of female leads who get to meet with each other by turn of fate; the device of destiny is the most used-up in BEE-Trains' stories.

There we have it. I was as well right back with what I posted for episode one. The Kingdom's treasure is the "Lost Technology" of Teoria.

And put in the words of Dominikov, this lost technology is just as dangerous as the lost one from the world of My-Otome. In both cases, the people of those two worlds seal it due that they witnessed how much destruction brought upon the world.

My understanding goes that the humans of the "Lost Era" lost control of the weapons made from Teoria, which brought the collapse of the human civilization. Out of the remnants despair and tragedy lingered, which cause that the human survivors amassed what was left of the technology and went to make war against themselves blaming the other for the loss.

Some midway point in history of planet Earth, after the Great Disaster, humanity found hardships to earn back their civilization and had no choice left but to resurrect Teoria. A second Great Disaster happened, which caused the 100 days of fire then the 100 days of nonstop rainfall.
Fearing that the world would not sustain a third disaster if Teoria was ever used again, they sealed it and made vows to watch over it from generation to generation. This people proclaim themselves as the "Shandy", and used what little left was at their disposal to progress civilization.

This happened nearly about 700 years prior to the start of the present timeline, but humanity was only able to make recovery up to the medieval era, or more specifically to an upgraded ver. 1.0 Medieval Era.
This is because a bit of the "Lost Technology" resurfaced thanks to that bitch Cecilia who lured Akamashi into her web and taught him the secrets of Teoria. She planned to use him as her primary tool to get the Teoria, but soon realized that his mind was asking the wrong questions and wanted to have a big piece of the cake.

It fits in place that one family descended from the first "Shandy" people continued the vigil over the Teoria, and as Dominikov shoved to Jodu's face it is possible that the Royal Family of Forland attempted to resurrect bits of the technology maybe to improve the conditions of the kingdom or become a sustainable military to match against the other countries.

The last thing left unanswered until the final episode is Falis v.s. Cecilia.

Why Cecilia bothered to raze a small village that likely had nothing of utility or value for her to search?
1. The bitch just wanted to let go off some steam to test her powers, and went by random to any village to see for herself what was the power she has capable to do.

2. The bitch might just desired to find and recruit talents for her selfish entrepreneur to break into Forland's castle, strike the coup d' etat, capture the Royal Family, and then use them to release Teoria.

Whatever her reasons it does not matter. After all the village she burnt to a crisp was Faris hometown, and the man she slaughtered before a frightened Faris was none other than Faris father.
Who knows but judging from his posture and stance Faris's father might have been or not a swordsman in the past. But we now know that her sword belonged to her father.

And so it begans the race for the climax, and the last showdown. Alita's going to take her fate to prevent the resurrection of Teoria while Falis is going to settle score against the reason which prompted her to become the infamously murderous, bounty hunter, and that is the bitch Cecilia.

As for Cecilia...

I as well noticed what Dominikov told her to be the same as he and Pete.

Either Cecilia is not an ordinary cyborg but the last weapon made before the first disaster, or she's a remnant of humankind's "lost era", the one precluding the Shandy era.
If that's the latter, the only way she would have been able to attain immortality without transforming her body into a cyborg would have been that she implanted nano-machines inside her body.
