The only thing that convinced me it was from Higurashi was the little note in the bottom left hand corner. If it had not been there, I would have thought that they were just characters that looked like Rika and Satoko.

Oh, I've seen that before. It's a wallpaper made by someone named Joesca at LJ and she used a color spread from the Meakashi-hen manga.

I really can't help but just love the art style. The second one especially. There's something about their eyes that makes you stare at the picture for 3 minutes.
