This is an old Anime they are remaking in a live action movie. It looks reallly cool... Sorry there are no subs but you'll get the idea.

*sigh* i liked the original movie...and so far...i absolutely don't like the way the char (casshern/casshan) looks...oh well...i'll still hope for the best...although i would of preffered that they made a new anime movie instead of live action

I showed the Casshern to a few friends of mine a couple of weeks ago when the trailer came out and managed to get a translation and synopsis:

I would like to report a breakthrough.

The Artificial Cell.

I can't believe the Artificial Cell has accomplished this much.

I heard your wife has been ill.

What are you going to do about Luna?

I can't just stand by and watch while my friends are fighting a battle.

The cause is unknown.

Hasn't the Artificial Cell been perfected yet?

What is going on?

The military is taking action.

Why must people kill each other?

What have you people done?

As the Artificial Human who is master of death, I will massacre all
humans.

Code 206! Hurry!

Luna.

I will save you.

Who the hell are you?

I am no longer human.

An invincible body created by sacrificing a mortal soul;
Who, but Casshern, can defeat the Iron Evil.

And the synopsis

A world which has experienced a history completely unlike ours.
The war had gone on for 50 years, splitting world into the Great Asian Federation and the European Union.
The Great Asian Federation had emerged victorious, occupying all of eastern Asia and Eurasia.
But the only real gains were side effects from the chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons.
Are humans left to sit by and await extinction?
Is there no way to recover?
There was one person with a plan. Professor Higashi (or Azuma).
He proposed the study of Artificial Cells, cells that can form any human body part, to the scientific societies.
Professor Higashi wanted to get this research implemented to help his ailing wife, Midori.
The Department of Health rejects the professor's research, fearing loss of control.
But the military decides to fund the research, hoping to be able to use the technology for their own projects.
And intentionally or by fate, the Artificial Human was born.
Man had just stepped into God's realm.
But the Artificial Cells that were supposed to save the human race had only begun to send them toward extinction, instead.

The movie sounds a lot like the old manga Casshan. Basically, it is the old story of "the robots were told to protect the earth, so now they are trying to kill off humanity". The man who made the robots in an effort to save the environment is now trying to stop them, with his son.

That's the story from the anime/manga, not sure if it is still the case in the new movie.

The anime is licensed by Streamline, but I don't follow mangas too much.. The dub has been out for a few years now.

If you want to buy the DVD, you can get it here. It is four OVA episodes total.

Appleseed is a movie that is licensed as well. Here's what the back of my VHS says about the story:

After the devastation of World War III, the scattered governments of the world construct the perfect city administered by perfect Biodroids - artificially created half-human half-robots. Life in Olympus is carefully controlled and monitored - and some of its human population have had enough. A dedicated band of terrorists plot to destroy Gaia, the central computer, and restore freedom to mankind. I don't know if the new movie has the same story as the old movie, but I'd bet on it (with twenty monopoly dollars).

I've seen the animation before some many years ago. It appears that the story and detail will be close to that of the anime. The story will be worth the watch alone but should the graphics keep up throughout the movie such as what was seen in the trailer, I feel that this will surpass even that of the Matrix movies.

When I saw the beginning, I was thinking "oh this is like one of those Metropolis type animes"

By the end I was lamenting the fact that this won't be coming out in Japan until next month.

Anyways, what are your thoughts?

To be honest, this movie is something I haven't seen before, could you post a link to the horror series your referring to?
