Oh niiice, I don't think I've seen any of your work though. I don't usually look at many threads on forums. I go on 13 designer forums and only a few anime forums so I have alot of threads to catch up on from time to time ><

Time for something a bit different around here. My first time writting a tutorial of sorts.
*How to trace eyes <-- (or perhaps I should say, how I trace eyes >_< ) To see the layout of the layers and the color values used, refer to the Psd file posted at the end. 1) Tracing --> First we (obviously) need to trace the eye we want to use for the guide. The skin color is only there to serve as a background. 2) Base colors a) --> b) a) While some guides out there suggest to leave the white parts of the eyes for last; I actually have them as my very first step in the coloring process. Like all the coloring I do, this is simply a color fill using the Pen tool. b) After adding the white parts, it's just a matter of filling the eye itself with a color gradient. (The angle and the placement of the color vary with each trace). 3) Inner colors c) --> d) --> e) c) Made the center of the eye using the Ellipse tool, then with Edit -> Transform I adjusted the angle and shape of the center so that it will "fit" with the rest of the eye. d) - e) For the effect in the lower part of the eye, we need to create two "U like patterns" (each on a different layer) using, once again, the pen tool. As you can see in the e) thumnbail, the shape in this layer is smaller and more clear (almost white) than the first. 4) Blurring At this point, I start to use the Blur tool on both the d) and e) layers to create a glow effect of sorts. The tool is set at a strenght of 60%, but that is pretty much a personal preference. The center of the eye and the edge of the white areas were also blurred. (again, personal preference ) 5) Light reflections f) --> g) f) Done in the same way as the center of the eye; This also needs the help of the Edit -> Transform option to adjust it well with the rest of the eye. g) After that, it's just a matter of adding Blurring and Outer Glow for some extra effect. 6) Final Touches From this point and on, it's all about how much you want to add to the eyes to make them look more flashy. <-- Final version. For this, I simply merged all the layers, made a duplicate and added Gaussian Blur (3.0) on one of them. The opacity of the layer was reduced to 30%. The other layer only has a color increase (Saturation + 20) And that's that. The reason I made this tut was mostly to answer some questions regarding how I do the eyes in my traces. As you can see here, I dont have a secret technique nor do I use complicated effects. This is by no means the best or the fastest way to make this; It is simply the way I like to do it. Hope some of you may this useful. http://rapidshare.com/files/85526665/eye.psd.html

Heh, I've been mia recently, but there's something I've noticed about the way people fill in the eye lines: Normally the edges of the eye lashes are more saturated and also lighter while the centre is darker i.e. black.
Eyelashes referring to this thumbnail: Okai okai... Haha, that's what I do too, anyway. xD |

Thanks for the comment guys!
In all honesty, I feel the tut still needs a lot more info. >_< ! You are very welcome! Quote:
As for your comment.... I tend to "dissapear" quite a few details when doing eye lashes. Most of the time is out of convinience, but I also do it as a style thing of sorts.
