The writers borrow alot names/themes from Japanese mythlogy.

Read up on the kyubi and he doesn't seem that bad at all. Father/lord of all foxes.

I suppose one couldnt be a chicken, but I wouldnt count on that to much.

I am thinking more along the lines of like Bears, Wolves, carnivorous Rabits, rabid Squirrels, and pissed off Possums.

That's depend, a kyubi, the so called nine tail's fox, wasn't always evil in the japanese mythology, but in the other hand in the Korean one, he was always a bad and evil creature.

personally I think the fact that he's a horny 12 year old boy has WAY more to do with the sexy no jutsu than the mythology of the nine tails

Knowing that the snake and the dragon are more or less the same thing in the japanese mythology, half of your guess is already wrong

Well... you're not dumb, but you must know that Gamabunta-sama (the frog), Manda (the snake) and Shukkaku (the sand badger) are not demons. Gamabunta-sama and Manda are Summoning Lords, and Shukakku is a old sand priest sealed within a tea kettle then sealed within Gaara.

There's 9 Great Demons. We just know one of them yet: Kyuubi, which's said to be the strongest of the 9.

PS. There must be El Pollo Diablo, the devil chicken! (a old school gamer may know from which game El Pollo Diablo comes from
