Also, I got a real quick question. What does a "synthetic" mage rank mean, as opposed to a normal one?
I have a serious problem because then, Cassandra's job would change from "Flight Officer" to "Enforcer" since it's kind of the job she does now....

All our ships can be back at their homeports in a few hours, but they all spend several weeks a month on patrol. Brown water navy.
TSAB is the intergalactic equivalent of a Blue Water Navy.
Regarding the Enforcers: I don't buy the whole XO part. Yes, Chrono was essentially Lindy's XO on the Athra - but consider the uniform and such. IT's like, say, a Navy officer who's specialty/MOS is engineering but who is the XO.
As for ships, in all cases ship captains are expected to work their way up through the surface warfare community. The only cross-MOS assignments to ship captain are carrier captains in the US Navy, who by law and navy regulations, MUST be former naval aviators (pilots), as the carrier's function is deployment of the air wing. Even then, carrier captains will go through a long cram school before getting their command, and they'll still have an experienced XO to assist and guide them.
Someone also mentioned the Enforcers running around like judges in western movies - I was thinking more like US Marshalls or Texas Rangers.
Also, ark, you must have missed the footnotes: the bulk of the Erusia invasion force were GF, not Enforcers. Joint GF/Enforcer/Gardai units did exist during the war, with GF providing magical muscle, Enforcers teaching & enhancing investigation skills, and the Gardai being cannon fodder - aka teh MITTs in Iraq.
Thanks as always for the useful info, Goose !!!!!

Well, I'm not saying that it's canon, but that's how I see it.
Acquired the view via the StardustMemory serious!trailer done by the nano author.
And @Jimmy C: I don't know how it led to people thinking it as the common notion of XO in today's maritime world. How it reads (in Mandarin as well) shaped how I see it, and that has no way in terms of relation to that XO thing too.
I presume that far back, in the days of when the first three series were running, the person who actually coined the term probably had a far more literal interpretation of 'Executive' IMHO, i.e. in the word 'Executory'.
@Kagerou: You win for that scenario.
Thanks a lot humbug It's more useful info for me. I'll just have to do more modifications than I expected
This information is both a blessing and a curse...

What looked like a tiny Rein sized version of Keroko-chan flew into the room at great speed. As soon as her eyes found Keroko-kun she started pulling on his shirt.
"Come on! Come on! Kane-san called for us! We need to go!"
"Wait, Keroko-tan calm down, can't you just go by yourself as usual?"
"No way! Kane-san send me to get you personally, it's really really big! Come on, come on!"
Pulling Keroko-kun from his seat, the tiny girl proceeded to push him towards the door.
"Wai- Keroko-tan, stop pushing!"
"Hayaku! Hayaku!"
As Keroko-kun was forcibly retrieved to fullfill his duties as a member of Kane's inner circle, a short silence fell over the room, before being broken by the sound of roaring engines and the cries of many. Keroko-kun stood on the high spot of a Raider Buggy, Keroko-tan on his shoulder. He stared at his subordinates, seated on Attack Bikes or in tanks or Reckoners, who had come to pick up their commander. He raised his fist in the air, and with a deafening roar the vehicles surged forward, and a massive cry roared througout the street.
KANE LIVES!
Yes I picked up Kane's Wrath today, yes it is awesome, yes Keroko-tan is enjoying it immensely as well.

Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Riot Force 6 Chapter VI Belkarangers
“What. The. Hell?!” was the immediate response from Syn. Of all the things she had expected, she had most definitely not expected that form of an entrance.
“Wow…” was all Vivio and Hayato could say. Whatever they had been expecting, they couldn’t remember anymore, especially with the way they had just presented themselves. By far that had been the most bizarre entrance they’ve seen in their lives.
“Okay…” was Rue’s comment. While she could commend them on the well placed theatrics and the presentation, she wondered if they were seriously the team that they were going to work with. If that was the case, she could probably understand the mixture of horror, annoyance, and just downright shame etched on the captain’s face, as he tried to his face hidden as much as he could in his palms.
This was a nightmare. This was an absolute nightmare, and he was willing to bet Hayate was probably watching them at this very moment through the security systems. She was probably going to record this. He knew he was not going to live this down; not by a long shot. Of all the teams she had to pick to help, she just had to pick the Belkarangers. They, by far and by any standards, were the quirkiest independent unit out there. Despite all the various missions they had accomplished during their time with the TSAB, it did not override the fact that everything they did was centered on the idea of what they call, “Super Sentai”.
“What was the point of all that?!” Syn yelled out, clearly unimpressed by the group’s entrance.
“That was our team roll call of course,” the one called BelkaRed replied, as the three of them walked up to them. Now clear of the glare of the sun, they now had a good view of what their Barrier Jackets looked like.
“Are those-” Hayato began.
“Sailor uniforms?” Vivio finished.
Before them, the Belkarangers were dressed in identical sailor uniforms, which included a standard blouse, with a white strip that ran down the middle, along with the insides of the pants they wore, forearm length gloves, and boots that ran reached almost to their knees. Save for the white collar in which the ends hung over their backs, their suits were the same colour as their respective names: Red for BelkaRed, yellow for BelkaYellow, and blue for BelkaBlue. And to complete the set, all three were wearing black visors over their eyes, and forehead mounted lights. However, from Hammer’s squad’s point of view, they looked rather ridiculous.
“Do you have names?” Syn added, her eyebrows twitching every so often at the sight of them.
“Ladies…there’s no need for your barrier jackets,” Farukon groaned in exasperation. “Could you…PLEASE just go back to your civilian clothing?”
The three of them looked at one another for a moment before nodding and saying in unison, “POWER DOWN!” Immediately, their barrier jackets dissolved and reverted back to their storage modes. In their place, stood some of the cutest girls Hayato had ever seen, all dressed in the same kind of training fatigues as they were, except they wore black shirts instead of the white shirts they wore .
“Asagi Colwell, at your service,” one called BelkaRed said, introducing herself. The girl radiated with exuberant energy, even thought she was standing. With red hair cascading down to her mid back, black eyes that radiated with confidence, and the fairest skin of the three, her overall appearance seemed to say she was not one to stand still for long.
“I am Mayura Lee Labatt Nogami,” said BelkaYellow, who spoke with a level of grace and dignity Asagi didn’t seem to have, “pleased to meet you.” Mayura had yellow hair that was braided and tied up into a neat little bun, piercing hazel eyes that radiated with discipline.
“I’m Julie Liu Ming,” BelkaBlue simply stated. She was stoic. Her present mannerisms seemed to indicate she wasn’t much of a person who enjoyed socialising. With thick blue hair that reached down just to the base of her neck, and her cold emerald eyes, and rather reserved choice of clothing, she seemed to be the type who just wanted to sit in a corner and be by their lonesome, or simply just didn’t care too much for others, outside her circle of friends.
Syn immediately directed her attention towards Farukon and threw an accusing finger towards the Belkarangers. “You expect us to work with THEM?!”
“Believe me, it wasn’t my choice,” Farukon muttered sadly, his face still hidden within his palms. “If I had a choice, I’d probably have us do this solo…”
“Then who’s choice was this?!” Syn asked, really peeved off at the utter cheesy entrance they just made.
Farukon sighed and answered. “Who else, but Colonel Yagami?”
Syn immediately closed her mouth as her eyes widened in shock. She had learned a while back that Hayate was one to anger. And as the top dog of the unit, she had made the choice; therefore Syn knew she didn’t have much of a choice. As such, she chose to resign to her fate, and stalked off towards some tree and grumbled to herself, wondering how unlucky she was working with a bunch of ‘yahoos’ and such.
“So, who’s in charge of this group?” Asagi asked. “We were just told that Hammer Squad was training at this hour, so I’m assuming you guys are it?”
“Yeah we are,” Farukon sighed. “I’m the commander of this squad, Captain Reddo Farukon.” What happened next would leave him in a daze for the hours to come.
“WHAT?!”
“ARE YOU SERIOUS?!”
“Impossible!”
“YOU’RE RED FALCON?!” the three of them shouted towards him, shocking the captain.
“Wha-what?” he asked them, completely taken aback by their outburst. The next thing he knew, Asagi was in front of him, stars practically radiating from her eyes.
“Ne, ne, tell me, where’s your Falcon Sword! What about your twin brace! Oh you have to show me your Falcon Break move!”
“Wait, wait, wait!” Farukon cried out, confused about what was happening. “What are you talking about?! I don’t use anything like those, and what’s this about this Falcon Break?! I’m just a normal mage. Not one of those guys from your Super Sentai!”
“But aren’t you Red Falcon, from Choujuu Sentai Liveman?” Asagi asked, now also somewhat confused.
“WHAT?!!”
“Well the leader of that squad was called Red Falcon and all, and since you said you’re Red Falcon! So you must be him!”
“What…my name is Reddo Farukon…not Red Falcon!” he replied, not realizing that the language Japanese was very similar to the Mid-Childan language he was speaking.
“How can you be Red Falcon and not Red Falcon?!” she asked back. “It just doesn’t make any sense to me!”
“Well…I…that is…uh…” by now, he was just utterly confused. With the sudden barrage of questions, he was left in a state of disarray, as he tried to sort his thoughts out, as his mind tried to get around the statement of how could he be Reddo Farukon, and yet not be Reddo Farukon.
“Umm…” Rue began, hoping to somehow clear the situation. “I think there’s a bit of a confusion.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Asagi demanded.
Rue glanced over at the other Belkarangers, but unfortunately, all of them were star struck, and probably weren’t going to help. Luckily, she knew a bit of the language the Takamachi were known to use. Using that info, she quickly understood the confusion, and prayed that she translated it correctly.
“Here’s the thing,” call up a screen she typed in the captain’s name. “This is our Captain’s name.” Displayed on the screen, it read Reddo Farukon. “The one you’re thinking off is probably this.” Displayed underneath his name was ‘red falcon’ written in completely different characters.
“His family name is Reddo, and his given name is Farukon. It just happened to be a coincidence, that the pronunciation of the Japanese term, and his name are the same. So you see…he’s not the person you think he is.”
“Oh. I see.” Immediately turning back towards Farukon, she lightly patted him on the shoulder.
“Sorry for the mix-up captain; didn’t think that the Mid-Childan language was quite similar to the Japanese language for a while there.”
Snapping to attention, she and the other two saluted Farukon and reported in. “Belkarangers reporting as ordered. For the duration of this mission, we will be working with your and your team.”
“Yeah…sure…” Farukon replied back, his mind still in a daze. “Umm…Rue, just…work on everyone’s personal combat styles or something…I’m going to sit down for a while…”
“Yes sir…” Rue replied back uneasily as she watched her Captain walk away from the group, seemingly disoriented about the whole situation.
“What’s up with him?” Asagi asked, raising an eyebrow in curiosity.
“You probably broke him is what,” Syn pointed out. “Seriously, what’s with you people with all the flashes, bangs, and longwinded transformation and the like?! Are you trying to make yourself known and killed in battle?!”
“It’s worked for us before,” Asagi stated casually. “Besides, we have our ways.”
“I swear, you’re going to regret that someday,” Syn muttered.
“Hey, hey, calm down people, Rue interjected, getting in between Syn and Asagi. “We’re allies, so no need to belittle each other, okay?”
“Fine,” Syn huffed, as she activated her device. “Can we just get started?”
“Sure,” Rue agreed. “Everyone grab activate or grab your devices, and let’s just practice a bit in one-on-one combat, before moving on to squad tactics.” Activating 7 drones, Hammer squad took four of them aside, and immediately began practicing on with them, while the Belkarangers were left somewhat confused, or rather their leader.
“So…what exactly do we do with these things?” Asagi asked, poking one of the drones.
“They’re simply training units, meant to spar against,” Julie quietly replied, taking one of the drones aside, and immediately began to train on them.
“Interesting,” Mayura commented, taking one of the two remaining drones aside, and began her own little training routine on it.
“Hmm,” Asagi pondered a moment as she stared at the drone for a moment. “Nah, I think I’ll just watch everyone.” Doing so, Asagi watched Hammer Squad go about their training. Watching them fight, she immediately noticed that all four of them were quite sloppy in what they did, at least by her standards. Their form was off, and their movements lacked a lot of the finesse required.
“Hey, Mayura, Julie, maybe we should help them instead,” Asagi pointed out.
“What’s that?” Mayura asked, looking over at Hammer and immediately catching on. “Oh…maybe we should.”
“Well then, let’s help him out,” Asagi stated, as she made her way towards them. “I’ll take care of the Ban-wannabe. Mayura, you take care of the supposed twins over there, and Julie, find a persona that’ll suit the situation, and take care of the one who seems to be the second in command.”
“Sure,” Mayura replied.
“You got it,” Julie replied, cracking her knuckles as she did.
Taking what he had learned from yesterday, he had immediately started to put it into practice. One of his major problems when using his gun-kata style of fighting was that his movements revolved more around parrying, and deflecting, where he should more focus on disabling, blocking, dodging, and if possible, grappling so that he could give himself the room he needed in order to fight someone in one-on-one combat. Putting the lesson to use, he did just that.
As the drone threw a kick to his head, he immediately ducked underneath the blow following up with a sweep to the back of the drone’s leg, throwing it off balance as it fell. Hayato immediately lined up his weapon, and blew off the drone’s head.
Calling up the next drone, he engaged it immediately, this time going on the offensive, and fired straight for it, only for the attack to streak past its head, as he was running when he fired, and the drone tilted its head to the side. Engaging in close-combat melee, Hayato redirected a punch to the head, as he grabbed the offending appendage with his free hand, and used it as leverage as he threw it over himself. Immediately recovering as the drone landed on its back, Hayato fired straight at the head, successfully destroying it. Letting out a sigh, he sat down to catch his breath. That drone was anything but light.
“Not bad kid, but your shooting sucks,” Asagi commented.
“What?!” Hayato replied back, caught by surprise by the sudden comment.
“What kind of a gunslinger are you?” Asagi elaborated, as she shifted her weight onto one leg and crossed her arms together. “Even with your style, why are you even worried about close combat? You should be working your ability to aim on the fly.”
“Well…I was told-”
“Doesn’t matter what you were told,” Asagi snapped. “Even Ban was better than you were at his gun slinging!”
“Ban?” he asked, clearly not getting who or what Asagi was talking about.
“Akaza Ban, DekaRed of Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger!” she pretty much screamed. “Leader of the Dekaranger, he had some mean gun slinging skills, right off the bat! He could take out targets without looking at them-Oh better yet, give me them and I’ll show you what I mean!”
“Huh?”
Groaning at his lack of response and also unaware she had pretty much blindsided him, she grabbed both guns, and turned to the drone. “Now how to work this thing…”
“Umm…they operate on voice commands,” Hayato explained.
“Can you create 10 drones?” she requested from the drone. Immediately, the drone glowed as 9 more appeared around it.
“That’ll do perfectly,” Asagi happily commented. “Set drones to form a circle around me, each about 10 meters away from me, and on my command, have all 10 engage.” Reacting to her commands, the 10 drones formed a circle around her, and stood ready to attack.
“Step back kid, this might get a little messy.”
“Oh…sure,” he replied, and moved away from the group, and watched.
“Attack!” Reacting, all 10 drones immediately charged forwards towards her.
Smirking, Asagi threw her arms out horizontally and fired, shooting right through their heads. Immediately her arms snapped to a new position as she took out two more, before turning her body and realigning her arms, as she fired another two shots. Before the drones even got close enough to attack, she had downed 6, as she used one of the drones as leverage and leapt over it, landing outside the circle of drones.
“Got you!” Firing four more shots, she finished the scenario.
“And that, is how it’s done,” Asagi proudly stated, as she passed the guns back to Hayato. Hayato for his part couldn’t help but stare in amazement. In probably less than a minute, Asagi had taken on 10 drones at once, without a scratch, and without breaking a sweat. She wasn’t even trying to catch her breath, which only showed how much practice and experience she had with using fighting in such a manner. Gripping his guns tight in his hands, he knew what he had to do, if was going to perfect his style.
“Asagi, could you please teach me?” he requested, failing to keep the excitement out of his voice.
Asagi regarded him for some time. She could recognise the fire of wanting to learn, but she contemplated whether or not she should let him learn from her. However, she couldn’t bring herself to answer. There was just something about him that gnawed at her, but she wasn’t sure. For now, she decided to work with a compromise.
“Show me what you’ve got, and I’ll consider,” she offered. Hayato smiled in response.
“Reset scenario,” he ordered. “Exact same configuration, but designate target as myself.” Immediately, the drones appeared around Hayato in the same configuration as Asagi had set it up.
“Now modify the drones to be mages, using standard devices. Set combat level to 3.” Immediately all 10 drones were rearmed with standard TSAB devices, and stood ready to cast their spells. Asagi simply quirked an eyebrow, wondering what he was doing. If anything, he was going to get shot down immediately.
Hayato for his part cast two white spheres that began to circle around him. “Begin!” In that instant, the drones open fired. As they did, Hayato immediately dived forward, and ducked between two drones and ran straight for the trees. As he ran, the spheres immediately started to move and bounce off the drones, rapidly striking them once before moving on to the next one. Soon enough, all 10 drones had been hit and the spheres were going after Hayato as well. The drones immediately open fired on Hayato.
Looking back, Hayato watched as enemy fire streaked at him. Diving straight into the forest, he hid behind trees as the shots impacted the foliage around him. Quickly checking his device, he realized that they were empty, and quickly reloaded them. No sooner did he finish that he heard that familiar crunch of weight stepping into foliage.
Considering that as his signal, he dived out and fired two shots before diving behind another set of trees. Doing again, he leaped out and fired two shots before ducking behind a bush, as enemy fire impacted the air he was just occupying just moments prior. Leaning over, he fired again, before ducking, and crawling to a new position.
Just outside, Asagi watched as Hayato quickly downed four drones. She was surprised, but not because of his skills, which were still sloppy at best, but the fact that his aiming was horribly off, but his shots still found their mark. As he downed another two, she noticed that he was just aiming at the squad in general. But that had yet to explain how he was able to direct the attacks towards them, considering that he was hiding, and nowhere within direct line of sight to actually control them towards their targets. There was something that was guiding the shots, and it definitely wasn’t him.
Then an idea dawned on her. She wondered if the spheres he had used on the drones had something to do with the accuracy of his shooting. If that was the case, that may explain how and why his shots were always on target. There wasn’t much else she could guess at the moment, with the limited amount of info on hand.
Ducking underneath the drone’s continuous fire, Hayato immediately popped arm around the tree he was hiding, and fired another shot before hiding again. Doing it again with his other arm, he heard two explosions momentarily following the two shots, knowing he had downed an additional two. Hearing that the rate of fire was dropping, he peeked out from his hiding space and fired four more shots and ducked underneath bushes.
Looking up, he breathed a sigh of relief, as all that remained of the drones were their remains. Getting up, he dusted himself off, and walked back towards the edge of the forest where Asagi waited for him.
“Nice little show there,” she remarked. “How you do it? Mark’em and shoot’em?”
“Pretty much,” Hayato replied, wiping the sweat off his forehead. “My tracers will mark any signature I don’t recognise as a friendly, in which then I attune my shots so that they’ll fly to the nearest marked target.”
“I see,” Asagi commented, before flicking him hard in the head.
“Hey, what was that for?” Hayato asked, rubbing his forehead.
“That’s for coming up with such a STUPID idea!” Asagi pointed out.
“How’s it stupid?!”
“How the hell are you going to keep track when there’s more than maybe your team?” Asagi pointed out. “It’s one thing when it’s signatures you’ve memorized like your team, but how the hell are you going to filter out the rest of RF6 members, or outside help like us, or another unit?”
“But we-”
“But nothing,” she interjected, cutting him off. “What you’re trying to do is what a device would do, which is keeping track of all familiar targets, since they only need to detect familiar energy signatures once. And on top of that, everyone will be carrying some sort of device that has a particular signature that devices can ID, and know not to mark them.”
“I see…” Hayato said. And yet another person who had just taken his style, and ripped down even further.
“With that said,” Asagi sighed, rubbing the bridge of her nose, “I’m definitely going to help you.” Smirking she watched as the surprised expression on Hayato’s face quickly turned into one of anticipation and excitement. “You’d better be ready for it, because I’m going to ensure you have the proper basics!”
“Alright, let’s do it!” Hayato exclaimed.
“First of all, since I’m not your commander and just a team mate, so you’ll respond to me by saying ‘roger’, and doing this:” coming to attention, she brought her right arm across her chest, with her hand held in a fist, held over her heart. Hayato simply looked at her sceptically.
“You want me to do that?!”
“First thing with working with me, Aka Red, is that you listen to my orders, UNDERSTOOD?!” Hayato couldn’t help but look at her sceptically. “IS THAT UNDERSTOOD!!”
“YES! UNDERSTOOD!” Asagi simply looked at him funny. A pregnant silence followed, as the two simply stood there, doing nothing for some time.
Quickly catching onto what she meant, Hayato resigned himself to his fate and immediately came to attention as his right arm came across his chest, with his right hand over his heart. “ROGER!”
“Good!” she happily exclaimed, her demeanour immediately switching to that of an excited, giddy girl. “LET’S GET STARTED!!!”
The two days spent training had been just as brutal. On the first day, after Farukon had recovered his wits, and discovered how much work that the Belkarangers were putting his team through, he had allowed them to train his group. Despite the sheer absurdity of the team’s penchant of theatrics, ands heroic poses, among other things, they had an impressive repertoire of skills, tactics, and knowledge than he did that were appropriate for his team, so he had allowed them to run the morning and midmorning training sessions.
During the afternoon sessions, he took over, as he had laid out the exact method of their infiltration. The mission itself was simple: they were outright break-in-and-enter the enemy base, make their way through the building, extract the Lost Logia, or Precious as Asagi seemed to enjoy calling, and get out. They were to avoid killing and only disable any and all opposition in their way. The expected highest rank of mage was A, and with the presence of the Belkarangers, that lowered the danger level. Not liking to admit it, bringing in the Belkarangers was the best thing. They were all close-combat fighters, which they needed for this mission. Speed was of the essence.
During the afternoon sessions, they practiced on a simulation of the actual location, based on the Intel they could obtain. The layout had been quite thorough, but even then Farukon knew there were going to be a few inconsistencies of the arrangement of the rooms and halls, and the guard patterns. With such thoughts in mind, he ensured that with each repeat of the mission, the system would alter various aspects of the simulation, as to keep everyone on their toes, and ready for anything. The last thing he wanted for his team was to be unprepared for the unexpected. If there was one thing that held true for any plan, it was that nothing ever went according to plan.
Having been finally let off for the night to do last minute preparations, and to get a good night’s sleep, the entire team had split off to do their own things. Vivio and Syn had simply gone straight to bed. Farukon had gone off to do something on his own in town. Rue had gone to find a work station and go about any work she had left undone. What sort of work she had, no one knew.
Hayato on the other hand, spent his time outside enjoying the evening sunlight on one of the few grass patches on base. In front of him was a small cloth he had laid down in front of him, which had both his devices dismantled into its individual parts. Next to him, a small cleaning kit was opened up, as he went about cleaning his device. Tomorrow would be his first mission with RF6. His heart pounded within at the thought of going through the mission. They had practiced and practiced, almost non-stop preparing themselves for any eventualities that could possibly happen.
Farukon on his part, despite his rather disarming manner, was a dedicated leader. Although he had yet to reveal his real device, having chosen to go through the scenario with a Belkan training device, Hayato could see that he was a strong, and experienced warrior. Even the Belkarangers were impressive warriors. Three of them were using a device that they called Survibusters that could also double as swords. The fact they weren’t using their true devices yet, spoke volumes of their skill. All four had displayed a level of combat maturity that he couldn’t even begin to comprehend. Even with all the flair, and theatrics they had put into their fight, much to Farukon’s chagrin, they were all capable warriors. He hoped that one day he could also reach that level of skill and maturity.
“You look like you’re having fun,” a voice suddenly called out. Looking behind, Hayato watched as Asagi approached him from the distance.
“Nothing really,” Hayato replied back, before turning back to his devices. “Just cleaning these things for tomorrow.”
“Oh,” she stated sitting down next to him. “What’s the need?”
“Just wanted to makes sure that this thing doesn’t have operational issues,” he answered, setting down the last piece, and began reassembling his two devices. Asagi simply watched him put together each unit, handling the two units with great care, making sure that everything came into place appropriately before moving on to the next step. If there was something she could understand, it was the passion for what one loved.
“You have a thing for guns don’t you?” Asagi idly asked.
“It’s always been my thing,” Hayato replied. “I know that there are other ways to cast a energy spell like that, but…there’s just something about guns that make it that much more appealing. I know that it’s a dangerous weapon not to be abused, but there’s just something about it that makes them stand out to me. I’m not exactly sure really.”
“What go you into it?” she asked, looking off towards the setting sun.
“Well…there’s this display back home,” he began, as he locked in the final parts of his second device. “Inside, it carries a gun. It was an actual projectile weapon, but everything that made it work is no longer in there. It’s just a shell of what it was, but it stands as a representation of what my grandfather used to do. He was a Law Enforcement officer before he joined the TSAB. My grandfather used to tell me tales about his times with that pistol back in his days; how he shot down suspects, how he used it as a means of creating an escape, and other such stories.
“I suppose what stood out, was that it was his partner. The one thing he could trust.”
“Sounds like he loved his weapon.”
“More than that,” he replied, emphasizing it. “He treated as if it was a part of him. He cleaned it, maintained it, everything. So when he joined the TSAB, he didn’t want to leave the gun behind, so he brought with him. Of course with the laws, he had to remove everything inside so that it was just a shell. It sort of broke his heart that he could no longer use it. But in the end, he put it up on a display.
“To him, Hikaru took a spot in his heart.”
“Hikaru?” she asked.
“He had named his gun, Hikaru,” he answered. “Of course, I guess hearing all the stories of what he had accomplished with Hikaru, it grew on me. When he finally moved back to earth, he entrusted me with Hikaru. To this day, I continue to maintain it, and honour its value. It represents one of the highlights of his moments. Eventually, my siblings and I managed to get our hands on the design of a ‘Jericho 941 F Double Action 9mm’ pistol, and based off of that, we built our devices, like these,” indicating towards the devices that were on the cloth.
“Since then, I’ve always been into pistols and such, but I don’t know if I’ll have a passion for guns for that long.”
For a while, the two simply sat in silence, as the sun cast the last of its radiant glow, bathing the whole base in its orange and yellow lights, bringing out a beauty not seen at any other part of the day.
“How old are you?” she eventually asked, breaking the silence.
“16, going on 17 in two weeks,” he replied.
“Two weeks…two weeks…” she muttered to herself before snapping her finger. “You’re born on the same day as me!”
“Really?!” he asked, surprised that he had the same birthday as her.
“Yup,” she replied back. “July 6, right?”
“Yeah, it is actually…” he answered. “But…what does my age have to do with anything?”
“You’re only 16, and you still have your whole life ahead of you. I’m 26, and I’ve still got a long way to go, and even I have my passions, which I’ve had since I was 10 I might add,” she explained. “So don’t go dismissing your dreams and your passions so soon. Look at your grandfather for example, he’s cherished Hikaru for how many years? Although he couldn’t use him for the latter part of his life, look where he and Hikaru stand. So before you go writing off a passion, ride it out. If it you find you’re losing that passion fine, it can’t be helped.”
“I guess you have a point there,” Hayato conceded. Asagi simply giggled and patted him on the head.
“Anyways, we need to get to bed,” Asagi stated as she got up. Waiting on Hayato, she watched as he cleaned up his gear and put everything way. Somehow, she felt she was going to have a lot of fun with the boy.
“You know,” she began, as they walked back towards the barracks, “I have the feeling we’re going to have fun times ahead kid. A lot of fun times.”
...XD
Farukon was in quite a pinch, and not to mention something totally lost in translation.
Hayato needs to learn about embedded IR strobes and learn to not hit them (which was I kept doing in vice at COD4 -_-)
Fun times... Fun times... =3

Wild Goose glanced at his screen, reviewed his orders, cursed, sent immediate deployment orders to his men and ran outside to his forces. The Orca attack VTOL squadrons were already lifting off, ready to provide supporting fire, while his tank squadrons was standing by. Pausing only to grab his combat boots with Cav spurs, and his Cav stetson, he hurled himself into the turret of his command Mammoth Mk. III, quickly checking his dispositions and giving his orders. The Recon Troop began pushing forward, their APCs loaded with a mix of riflemen and tank hunters, as slowly the the tanks rumbled forward, gaining speed with each second...
And the strains of "Yellow Ribbon", the traditional anthem of the United States Cavalry, followed with them.
So sue me, I like Mammoths. -_- And Orcas. And I just realised that my typical orbat is actually very much like the Cav; infantry in APCs as recon, Orcas for gunship support, tanks for the heavy hitting.

A lot of fun times.”
...
They maybe nutty, but don't ever underestimate the Belka's ability to kick ass... or teach you how to kick ass And I see the Hayato/Asagi relationship starting to take root quite nicely, AWESOME

Sigh, shall I jump on bandwagon too?
...
YES I SHALL. I play CnC3 too, so no point resisting...
We made it to the rendezvous point early, just in time to see the jump jets of our sister squad land on the sand before us, sweeping up the dust with blasts of wind. No cut faces here, though, as the grains of sand spitted our armor from head to toe.
"Damn it," said I, "Y'all coulda landed a little further, couldn't ya?"
The lead Zone Trooper laughed sarcastically, gesturing to me with his hefty railgun "Not possible, sir, if we landed any further, you'd blame us for going off course!"
If this wasn't a battle, I woulda laughed back. Not right now, though. "Well, like hell I'd do that now, we don't got the time for it. Now let's move it, and keep outta my gunsights!" We advanced slowly up a steep incline, moving onto higher open ground. Below us our lads and the Scorpies were exchanging some heavy fire. We would win this, but it could get costly. Not good news. That's why we're here...Gonna shoot'em up, reeeal good. Don't matter if they's tanks or infantry, we'll screw 'em all. Big time.
"Commander Goose, this is Elite Zone Trooper Squad Xenocide. We're moving out and coming in."

The GDI Cav commander known by his nickname of Goose grinned fiercely as his Mammoth Mk. III's railgun slugs went true, blasting into a Scorpion's turret, and grinned even more as he heard the commo call over his CVC: "Commander Goose, this is Elite Zone Trooper Squad Xenocide. We're moving out and coming in."
"Xenocide Six, this is Whiskey Gulf Six Actual," he called. "We're engaged with forces belonging to the Deathwing and their allies, apparently an advance group. Tango Kilo Six Actual is on the way with the MARV, so we'll try to hold out until then. Good to hear from ya, Xenocide Six."
Eat railgun slugs and die, he thought viciously, as his gunner fired another pair of slugs into the Scorpion, finishing it off.
"Boss!" called his commo crewman. "We've got another unit present: Zone Raiders, unit commander callsign Gear One, are heading in."
"Alright! Now if we can just go through this battle without an Avatar showing up-"
"SIR! AVATAR THREE O'CLOCK!"
"I hate my life.... wait I'm commanding 24 Mammoth Mk. IIIs, 32 Predators, and 18 Orcas. EVERYBODY! NAIL THAT FUCKER!"

Good Morning, I'm Yuuna Scrya. How may I help you?
Spoiler for Yuuna Scrya:
Yuuna Scrya
There is a 97th saying, that behind every man stands a woman. Interestingly, this woman of Nanoha's comes in the form of an alien, or rather, a mage from Midchilda.
Yuuna first discovered some artefacts known as Jewel Seeds, but the TSAB forces then lost the gemstones en route to Midchilda. She set out to Earth where they had fallen to secure them while the bureau got its act together, but one of the minions created by the Jewel Seeds proved too much for the support mage.
Nanoha answered Yuuna's call, setting the course of a destiny that would change everything. And through it all, Yuuna stayed by Nanoha, guiding him from the side, until he was able to take flight on his own.
Now in MC 0075, the "Wild Ferret of the Library" Yuuna Scrya still works full time at the Library, still argues with Chrona at almost every instance, and still provides the Aces the tactical support they need. As Hayate-kun sets up the Riot 6 taskforce, Yuuna finds herself busy with countless seminars and cataloging to do, and regrets not being able to be by Nanoha like she always had till then.
However, she knows that however things may turn out, she and Nanoha remained linked by their past, and by their hearts. And that becomes her strength in the coming days...

"SIR! AVATAR THREE O'CLOCK!"
"I hate my life."
Wanna...continue?
9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 *punches YES*
"Avatar in sight, sir. Three o'clock from the bosses' position."
"And Eleven o' from ours..." I grinned, and licked my lips in joy. "Boy...big target." Just an Avatar though, one among many. If it was a Redeemer, even the "Wild Goose" would be in a bit of what we call EPIC shit. It had a rage generator, which would be quite a piss-off if it used THAT.
Luckily, it couldn't see us. Xenocide Three was almost glad to say that, and so were we all.
"Prepare fixed positions. Fire at will, and then we'll jetset out. The bruddahood won't be too glad to see us blasting the legs off their big ol' prince of death, ya knows." Sporadic laughter ran through our lines. Well, they were the best. They'd done it all before, and they'd sure as hell do it again.
"Ready Railgun volley, guys. Aim for the bloody legs. Anywhere else you hit, and it'll be the frickin' most useless thing we're gonna try if we wanna stay unseen."
"Ready..."
"Jetset...sir?" Xenocide Five was half-laughing as he parodied an old line.
I shook my head, and just stared down my targeting device. "Nope. FIRE!!!!"
The air shattered around 10 streaming shots which punched death into the lumbering giant. The doomed titan turned to face us...Too slow, you loser. 10 hits, 5 for the left, and 5 for the right. The once-mighty war machine lurched to one side, and collapsed, belching black smoke.
Bloody Markmanship wins the day everytime.
"Now, let's get out of here before this place starts crawling with angry little militants, eh? Jumpjets, fire! Hail to the Boss!"
"Sir, yes, sir!" We blasted off towards the Commander's position.

This week? I'm playing it as we speak. :3
See you on the battlefield.
~ Commander Keroko.
Spoiler for TK is unable to resist his urges and has lapsed into serious RPing mode.:
“We’ll see how funny you are after you’re a smear on the bottom of a sixty ton walkers boot noddie! Push forward no quarter!” TK exclaimed angrily tearing off the sign and ordering his Armored Legions forward to crush the object of his irritation.
“Sir we’re not even sure where they are!” TK’s trusted lieutenant informed him uncertainly.
”Who cares! Level everything then! Maximum power total destruction!” TK bellowed back manically.
“Sir, yes, sir!” His lieutenant barked back in response before quickly relaying the command. “All units form up in extended line and push forward to contact maximum sustainable speed and rate of fire: if it moves kill it!”
Almost as one the entire unit surged forward toward the battle zone the pilots driving their machines actuators to there limit’s as they broke into full sprints barreling forward to come to grips with the enemy as rapidly as possible. The combined footfalls of the dozens of walkers merged into a hellish beat that shook the ground like a minor earthquake and wasn’t so much heard as felt. These reverberations in the earth underfoot heralded there approach long before they acutally emerged over a nearby ridge line and plow into the battle like a freight train; unfortunately once they got moving they were no more inclined to stop then a locomotive either.
The Zone Trooper units learned this the hard way as the Talon’s armored spearhead “passed through” their lines and into contact in rather the same way a hammer might pass through porcelain vase. Trooper where forced to leap and jet out of the way to avoid being crushed by the stampede of sixty ton mechanized beast smashing through the scenery headless of anything underfoot. It was a minor miracle no friendly forces where crushed to death in the advance… Several of the troopers made there displeasure know to the Mech Jockeys. “Are you fucker trying to kill us or the enemy?!”
“Stay out of the way and you won’t get trampled!” There protests failed to impress.
As a minor consolation the sheer insanity and ferocity of the charge took the enemy even more by surprise then the allied units had been and the tidal wave of armor broke over with lethal ferocity. Before they could even really adjust to the change in the situation the heavy walkers had moved into the kind of close combat they excelled at and began enacting a bloody toll.
At the tip of the penetration a pair of attack bikes suddenly found themselves confronted by a five story mech lumbering out into an intersection from behind a derelict office building and were forced to scream to a halt and desperately attempt to reverse out of the situation. It was futile though as the walker took one large step forward and crushed the closet bike beneath its foot like a empty beer can before swinging it’s torso left, sighting in, and firing on the second the railgun slug didn’t so much penetrate as disintegrate the nearly unarmored vehicle scattering bits of it and the pilot all over the road, the walker ulcerously flatten what little was left of the machine as it continued up the road sweeping it’s torso left to right and scanning for more targets.
Nearby sporadic fire from an apartment block was met with a salvo of rounds that quickly tore the building apart and dropped it onto it’s foundation as a mountain of rubble. The walkers then proceeded to trample even this as they stomped over the demolished structure continuing to advance and firing on basiclly anything that even looked like it MIGHT hide enemy units as they carried out there commanders directive with gusto.
Err crap gotta make this seem on topic...

The walkers then proceeded to trample even this as they stomped over the demolished structure continuing to advance and firing on basiclly anything that even looked like it MIGHT hide enemy units as they carried out there commanders directive with gusto.
...
Is that a new GDI walker?! WANT!!!

"...Foreman?"
"What?!"
"You look out of it, Foreman."
"Who wouldn't be, when something so ingenious, so devious, so cunning, as that latest package we dropped, not only got minimal brainsplatters, but ended up as a convenient scapegoat for some human's sorry excuse for a tripod!!!"
"..."
"...even you think I'm crazy?"
"No, Foreman... Your mind is just... hard to appreciate at times."
"Same thing."
(Note how human Foreman sounded. It's a Khrack theory for the C&C universe. )

Ahh, decoys.
The Slaver calms down after noticing the Foreman chuckling at the latest twist in battle.

I'm actually a better Scrin player then a NOD player. I'm not much of a rusher. Haven't had the time to test the tasty new strategies possible with the new NOD factions though.
Also, I have never played GDI online before. Ever.

I used to love GDI Mammoths. Then came the Scrin.
Though with this latest intel...
"Are you sure Reaper-17 is already on-planet?"
"Affirmative, Foreman. Overmind notified that the Foreman is currently embedded in native forces. Harvest-2 managed to escape the last time, and will be the one launching with us."
"I see. We'll just have to show them the power of Traveller-59."
"Yes, Foreman."
Yes I love the specs of that Scrin sub-faction. Air power spam FTW. >3
