So if what I read is correct

Spoiler for chapter 208:

does this mean that Negi won the fight with Evangeline, or will the fight conclude in the next chapter? Hopefully, this will mean the rest of volume 23 will focus away from Negi and more towards the others as they travel to the rendevous point (the lack of Nodoka is driving me insane).

You already seen her. She will be fine, she is putting that library explorer skil to good use. Who knew exploring libraries would be so useful surviving in a magical world.

The next girls to focus should be Anya and Haruna. Probably running a scam.

I know that, but I would like to see more of Nodoka before the big meet-up at the finals (with her running into at least one of her fellow Library Trio members).

One of the regulars post some infoon 209 and 210.
209 will finish off Negi's training and 210 will get back to the girls.

Watch that 210 will focus on everyone that isn't in magic world (although it is going to be another "series of short stories" chapters, so there's a chance Nodoka could end up showing up in that chapter).

Honestly, unless something big happens soon that will give the girls more screen time, the current arc is the WORST arc so far in the manga, as I'm getting sick and tired of all the focus in this arc going towards Negi (and the worthless characters) instead of those that have been part of Negi's crew since Kyoto.

Well, Negi IS the main character. Him getting his shounen-standard powerup takes precedent over seeing any of the girls, save possibly Asuna for her importance.

If there's one thing that hasn't changed with the author Ken A.
... its his ability to get distracted and derail off into multiple chapters of sidestory.

However, this is Negi's story and his adventures --- though its not like the last umpteen books weren't more of an ensemble focus with his class also leveling up, becoming their own selves, etc, etc. So if I understand the chapter 200+ summations - it does sound like though we're getting some Negi experiences -- the rest of the main cast is being neglected (not even a "meanwhile, back at the..." moment).

I'm pretty much just following the story via the licensed books and the latest volume with the "big battle" between Chao's forces and Negi's people really just ended up boring me when I wasn't having to flip back every few pages in order to keep track because the scene cuts were so rapid and, well... Ken really doesn't do this scale of epic that coherently.

Frankly, I prefer his portrayals of smaller unit battles. The Kyoto battle was about right in size. But I guess I'll see what people were talking about when the volumes catch up.

My guess is that now that he has absorbed her dark magic, Negi is going to kick shadow-eva's loli ass, and wake up with a major power-up.

One thing that would really set Negi and Asuna apart is to gain 600 years (or more) worth of fighting knowledge and training in just a fraction of the time, I'd like to see Eva's expression then...
