*yawn* This thread really has picked up speed, although it's only gained maybe 3 or 4 more members I think. (Maybe that's a normal growth curve; either way, I'm happy for the activity.)

We definitely should start using last names if we're going to cross reference the Tomoyo from CCS and the Tomoyo from Clannad. ^^; They are two very different people.

I feel like I've fallen behind on my statistics work for ISML, but everyone is okay so far with the information provided, right? Anything more you want? Certain comparisons or..?

I expect to have to output a ton of stuff by the time the tournament is over, so that people have loads of information to look at during the off-season, and it will give ISML a strong impression going into its second year.

Tomoyo Daidouji is precious Tomoyo Sakagami is also precious but for different reasons.

Just had another thought.. With all the anti-character hate going around, especially it seems to me Shana lovers against Kyoani which includes Haruhi characters, can I remind everyone that Shana and Haruhi share the same illustrator, Noiji Ito?

Don't expect me to join the "hate brigade" so to speak. I just don't think Clannad is that good, and as such the "best" (and with me that usually equates to "moe") character I believe is Kyou, and I wouldn't even vote for her over half the characters in Sapphire. Haruhi is Haruhi, I'll vote for her sometimes but I don't care for Yuki or Mikuru at all...

Daidouji borders on creepy, obsessive best friend but I appreciate her anyway. Sakagami is cool and probably the 2nd best Clannad girl...

EDIT: Of course, Noizi Itou is a great artist. I own the first two Shana novels

In looking back, I found maybe one or two blogs that even mentioned Haruhi before it aired. One was all for it because it was from KyoAni due to Full Metal Panic, and the other was because of the recommendation of the first one, also due to it being KyoAni due to FMP? There might have been one that mentioned the light novels and hoping KyoAni did as good a job as they did with FMP? and Air.

However I noticed that either the day of, or within the week, of the first episode airing it was everyplace in the blogging world. Even if it was the only mention of it on that blog for months, it was mentioned. It was followed, episode by episode, even on blogs that didn't normally do that. So something happened. I doubt there was the viral marketing yet. That seems to have started afterwards. It hooked people on the first and second episodes. A lot of people. The only other recent show that I've had that happen with is Minami-ki to the point people were watching un-subbed episodes of the second season for a month before the subbers went for it. Oddly, I understood enough to laugh even without subs, and I don't know Japanese.

Hype or no hype, Haruhi worked pretty much from day one.

Let's see... She defeated Haruhi, Yuki, Hinagiku...and Shana... Shana fans are rabid you know, dare I say, more rabid than Fate fans. Hate was bound to come. As for me, I fail to see what makes her so moe, so her popularity within ISML baffles me. She is certainly sexy, though...

As for why Tomoyo is so popular...has to be there for the kicks.

Hmm actually my general impression of the Doujin Engine's favoured interpretation of them says it's Nanoha who does the raeping. Fate is hornier but is timid so never gets to actually make a successful move on Nanoha (do not underestimate her Wall of Obliviousness). When Nanoha wants some, SHE GETS IT (barring Vivio being in the way). Oh, Minor Gropings don't count as Raep - Fate can sneak in Minor Gropings easily enough but it's Nanoha who Raeps. Zenryoku Zenkai indeed.
