Well java apps still ocasionally have their little win32, linux, mac code in the source. so yea w/e lol
Java is a good start, but it is still a pain in the butt to go from my windows box, to my nix box, to my eeepc, my wm6 and finally my symbian n95. There are some attempts such as keepassx/keepass where i can use the same password db on all my devices, but in general I end up compromising.

I just see google gadgets being a possible solution, but I shudder when i consider letting google own all my data....

Newest build was out yesterday.
I just tried it, and looked some problems with Adobe Flash was fixed.

But even with this release, I still don't know which faster, Safari 4 or Chrome?
Spoiler for screenshot of build:

I like Chrome. It is really fast, which for me is a plus. One thing I don't like is it seems to be scanning my hard drive while browsing any site.

Uninstalled chrome over the weekend when i noticed the googleupdater.exe process.....automatically updating chrome without asking me.

an extra process running when chrome isn't being run? No thanks. Updating chrome without asking/prompting me ....once again no thanks.

Yup.. that pissed me off too.. appearently, the google updater is scheduled to run on comp idle.. and you have to manually remove it =.=

That's just a false impresion. Most modern browsers have a redraw limit of 1s. It seems some people just don't like it when it's instant. And these people are noisy and the majority. Chrome seems fast since I'm more then sure it doesnt have it and just does instant redraw.

In Opera:
Ctrl F12 → Advanced → Browsing → (set Loading to Redraw instantly instead of the 1 seccond delay)
...to moke it fast.

Yeah Chrome is very generous when it comes to assigning system resources to itself.

Pro
  • It starts fast. (but then not many people close their browsers often)
  • It's optimized for internet junkied
Con
  • Some things don't work all too well.
  • It looks nice but then they all look nice, and others can be custumized to look just right.
  • Its fastest one out of the box. But...
    • Resources / Performance ration comapred to other browsers is abismal.
    • Starts crap load of processes.
    • Grinds the hdd like crazy.
    • Alternative browsers can easily beat it if extra resources are assigned and some stock settings are altered.
eg. the page redraw, chace size, image reaload timeframe
  • The options available in its settings are minimal and simplistic.

Guys, make sure delete the unique ID from Chrome to protect your privacy when you use the browser often.
