Need to escape reality
Hey guys!
I just turned 18 and boy, it really is no fun growing up! A guy recently hit my sister and I and my sisters boyfriend bashed into this guys classroom during a test and, well let's say his face isn't going to look nice when he gets released from the hospital. Anyway, I am charged for assault, and can risk up to 6 months jail. So I need something to escape reality, even if just for a while, since alcohol doesn't really help me. I would love any kinds of suggestions of animes that really captivates you, and get's you hooked on it. The only thing that has succeded in doing this so far is full metal panic, and I hope you can suggest me something else that can do this. Appreciate any kind of suggestions, but just no yaoi or yuri. Also, I don't mind if it is shounen, seinen or shoujo, since I have seen some great shoujo as well.

wow just watched the first episode of macross, and also first episode of Mnemosyne, and I loved them both :O Aria will be top priority after these. Also I have already watched suzumiya and loved it so much that I will cry if there wont be a second season.
Please feel free to post more suggestions ^.^

I see.
Then the next best 'dealing with growing up' anime would be FLCL. Troubled youth with problems in family and is not having a good life, until one day when he meets her: Clannad, season 2 is now airing, watch season 1 first.

I know you said you were already planning on watching it, but Aria certainly is worth watching for an escape... it's just a huge feelgood/slice of life anime.
The big question here though is what kind of an escape do you want. Do you just want an anime you can loose yourself in because it's whacked out? Has a lot of mind-games? Action? Very supernatural? Or just any and all things you could potentially lose yourself in? D.Gray Man and Code Geass could probably draw you in, so you could check out those also.

If you want something gentle, very trippy and full of great highs and lows, Mushishi is a very good place to lose oneself in.
I also support the recommendation of FLCL. It may only last six episodes, but it's always such a great mind tip/coming of age tale.

I watched 4 episodes of Clannad, and boy was I drawn in it. I have already watched code geass(who hasn't) and I am already in love with it and live in denial hoping for a new season even though it is over
I want to lose myself in anime that has a dramatic and intriguing love story like ef, elfen lied or Air. Or something that excites the hell out of you like Death Note or Code Geass. But the main point of the anime I want to lose myself in is that it should want me to forget about real life and just keep watching the anime. Thank you for your suggestions!

visual novels If you liked clannad the anime, try the visual novel instead. The anime follows the game pretty precisely, but game cover more context. and if you are not a huge fan of nagisa x tomoya, you can choose which ending to watch instead, they are all good and interesting. Personally I really got merged into it. (don't forget the voice patch ) on sidenote and i hope you wont face serious charges. What kind of an idiot goes around hitting girls... seriously... happy birthday, my birthday too was yesterday |

Gee, thanks.
On Dream's recommendation of visual novels... I, for one, would love to try some, but don't know japanese all that well, so... if some good ones were, at least, translated to english, that would be something.
