The only other person who could was Shiba Kaien and she fell in love with him, if I'm not mistaken. Rukia seems to like the casualness of her relationship with Ichigo, the same casualness that she treasured with her relationship with Kaien.

In Japanese culture the use of first names among friends is something personal and intimate. The degree of closeness is shown on whether one is permitted to call the other by their first names. Ichigo and Rukia is on first name basis even from the start. While Ichigo still calls Orihime by her last name Inoue, Orihime does the same, she calls him Kurosaki-kun which is a sign of respect. However, Ichigo calls his other friends by their first names except for Ishida to whom he's not really close to since they consider each other as more of rivals than friends. He doesn't call Tatsuki by her last name, same with Keigo and Mizuiro. Sado he calls Chado which is a sort of pet name, Sado had repeatedly corrected him that his name is Sado not Chado. But Ichigo prefers calling him Chado associating it with Dominic Chad and Chad Smith.

The name calling is an important aspect in Japanese culture, so by Ichigo calling Orihime by her last name means he doesn't feel he has the right to call her by her first name, meaning they're not close enough for him to do so. There are some instances that people have to even ask permission to the other person if they can call them by their first names. That's how polite and traditional Japanese folks are. Orihime may love Ichigo but personally she knows they're not close enough for her to call him by his first name. She's too shy to ask if she could and she probably would never do so knowing her nature.

I don't hate Orihime, I like her even. But I can understand why some folks think of her as weak and pathetic because of her Ichigo obsession. I hope she can get passed that.
One word for you, Chad.

Chad > Rukia, end of story.

Ok, I think I've gone over the name thing like a million times already. But because this thread moves pretty fast I don't blame you for noticing.

Rukia is rude, plain and simple. Her polite side is fake and used only where its necessary. Rukia calls everyone by their first name after learning who they are. She never started calling Ichigo by his last name and progressively called him by his first. When Rukia first met Orihime she said "Who the hell are you?", when Ichigo corrected her and told her that she's their classmate, Rukia made a 180 with a curtsy and a "how you do?".

Ichigo could give a rats ass about anything else, Ichigo lacks respect. Like others have mentioned. Ichigo calls people however he feels like calling them. Theres no deep meaning behind it. Even if it annoys others he still does it. (Toushiro and Byakuya comes to mind).

The only person Ichigo respects is Orihime, his actions proves louder than anything else.

Modern japanese society amongst the youths have been progressively changing. Now many preferred to be called by their first names as being called by their last names is too "Old-fashion".

I think he also still refers to Yoruichi with honorifics. "Yoruichi-san" if I recall correctly.

He waivers on adults. He is respectful of teachers at school and those training him aside from Urahara for who his respect is an inverese function of how annoyed at him he is. He has no respect for his father or The Don.

LOL. It's LOL, LOL, LOL. FLOL. xD

Yes, Ichigo tends to call people by their first names or give them nicknames. It doesn't mean that he doesn't respect them. Well, except for Byaku-chin, maybe? No, even Byaku-chin has some of Ichigo's respect. And, oh God, Byaku-chin respects Berry-tan, too.

It also depends on closeness of characters. For example, Ichigo is not that close to Ishida or Inoue to call them by their first names. He is not formal with them either.

So, remind me of one time when Ichigo called Inoue in polite manner, eh, HT? xD And actions? He is gentle with her. As well as he is with Nell. Duh, kindergarten much? Scratch that. Big bro's instinct much? xD

And to say that Ichigo has NO RESPECT for his father? O.O Isshin just annoys him at times.

Dude, learn to spell before you try to insult me by questioning my education for listing an innocent observation.

But, it looks like I hit a nerve there. You must be an Orihime fan.

That cracked me up. It seems like monir's theory that age directly correlates to intense emotion has clashed with a 22 year old deviation. To find out what spawned this unusual person, who's ideology is in the process of making me consider adhering to Godwin's law, I checked out this BleachExile place. Unfortunatly I couldn't find my way around since it was so poorly organised. However I did come across a few fanclubs and seeing as most of the founders of these clubs were barely literate themselves, it was a sign that the others wouldn't be much better.

Also, don't try to sound smart when your spelling and grammar is pretty atrocious. BTW, I wouldn't go to Bleach Exile since it's an anti-Rukia board. DUH! Isn't that obvious! For one who wants to do a study, your observation skills are sub-par and pretty much fail.

ER... gentle with Nell? He yells at her all the time, what you talking about little miss Amy?

EVERYONE except for that freak of a hollow calls Ishida, Ishida. Uryuu probably feels like it takes too much effort to say.

Ok, I'll prove it to you, just give me a minute. I also ask of you to prove that Inoue is insignificant to Ichigo.

Apparently, to you meeting someone once can bring you to a super level of smexy closeness, I dare not ask how you consider people to be your bestfriends in real life.

I'm talking about those puppy-dog eyes, patting the chibi's head and the light smile. All for Nell.
Nell has a hot temper unlike Inoue. She can stand Ichigo raising his voice at her. I think Ichigo realizes that if he shouts at Inoue it will cause a great cryfest. xD And Inoue doesn't give him a reason to raise his voice. It's not in her character. She is too nice, sweet, timid, quiet and blah-blah-blah.

Hello, we are talking about MANGA here, HT. Apparently, I don't have sworn enemies whom I met just a week ago, then met again, kicked their ass, gave them a piece of my mind in the process... and then developed an important bond with them.
And I never met cute dead lolis with katanas who just barged into my life and then changed it in it's entirety by giving me the powers to protect those who are dear to me.
No, apparently not.

You missed the entire point, if someone is going to question someone's level of education it's entirely hypocritical to offer a sample of one's own education riddled with failed spelling and grammar.

It's quite simple. Don't worry, I'm not butthurt, I'm amused by all these people getting so defensive and acting like idiots.

Your claim makes no sense, since I've been a member here for a long time and have definitely contributed to this section. I also contributed to the pairing debates thread, search my post history. You cannot accuse me of being dumb or simplistic, my pasts posts reveal all. Try to label me all you want, it won't work.

She's not timid or shy, she has no issues speaking up. The only thing she's reserved about is her love. Inoue is NOT Hinata.

Being grateful and being close are 2 different things, don't confuse them. Byakuya won't go cry on Ichigo's shoulders about his problems. Nor will Toushiro want to go catch a movie and talk about chicks and later on cry about Momo with Ichigo.

And Rukia isn't a loli, she's just flat chested. Big difference.

Guess this little quote by someone fits the bill :

Yeah, that post was a bit confusing. My fault for not editing it. But I don't really want to do a study. As for your education level, you seem intelligent enough, but very angry and bitter.

Nell doesn't strike me as hot tempered, isn't she a lot like Orihime in most respects? I got that impression during her flashback chapters. She's the least inclined to violence out of all the arrancar. It would be funny if Ichigo shouted at Inoue and she started crying. Since every character is fond of Orihime, with the exception of Yachiru perhaps, some comedy could be had.

Alright, then let's try this again. I was insulted first specifically, and if I choose to defend myself, I'm considered a mudslinger? It was not only me who participated in this insult-fest or "mudslinger madness" in your terms, yet you accuse me only.

And when have I displayed anything but cool behavior?

Thank you for agreeing that I'm not dumb and simplistic.
