No, seriously, I only ever saw him fight a Gundam twice, and one attempt ended in his death. But that aside, I like that lesser units can fight the Gundams. I'm just saying that, if Barrack died in episode 2, it wouldn't really have changed anything, and, hey, it would have been perfectly feasible, since the 00 was in monster mode. Plus I'm sure the A-LAWS have many replacements. |

Just watched the 00 Raiser docking and battle, it doesn't seem too powerful now, but nevertheless very cool. Can't wait to see its true power next week

About the Newtype thing, I suspect it exists just to allow a shouting match between mobile suits in the last episode, even when both sides don't have the luxury of chatting. How else could you have the classic "beating each other up while throwing insults" element, unless they can hear one another?
(In some ways, that's how the UC Newtype mind link worked too. It's so characters can interact even when they are not suppose to able to communicate normally.)

Well, it isn't character development on its own. But it IS necessary at times, as a storytelling tool, in order to HAVE character development.
The Newtype mind-meld allows characters to say what they really feel, even if they might have lied or otherwise refused to talk about what they are thinking in an ordinary setting.

Uhh, I'm not seeing the similarities between 00-Raiser and Strike Freedom at all. For example, one of them does not fight with stock animations of beamspam nor does it completely overpower every single opponent in a 1km radius upon first appearing.

Next episode the 00 Raiser is shown in combat against the Garazzo in Trans-Am with a time limit.
![]() Also, the 00 Raiser's kill count in this episode was... a single Ahead. Not even close to the record of an overpowered debut.
