Problem with computer

im currently helping my uncle w/ his computer through the phone and he has this problem where some files he wanna install like - Itunes, AVG Anti Virus, but then the file says he need Window XP but his computer already is Window XP anyone know what might be the problem? he just reformatted his computer so is there anything that i might need to update or have?

First thing I can think of is to make sure his XP box is patched to Service Pack 2 or newer. It may be his OS disk was the original XP release.
Hopefully he has a high speed connection -- he can visit the Microsoft Update site and just update away til he's current.

try reinstalling or better yet repairing the OS make sure you have the installers and drivers of the PC

I'd first try the updating and perhaps other options before doing this cause that step takes a while to complete and could be annoying if you don't know much about computers this would be the very VERY last option

Depends on which version of iTunes, or AVG he is trying to install. If it a recent/newer release, advise him to install Windows XP SP2+. If the version of iTunes is old, it may not require the latest WinXP SP.
