I'm having a hard time making a decision. It's either The Dark Knight or The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. I liked them both quite a bit, but if it came right down to it, I think Benjamin Button wins because I came out of that movie with more than I had coming in, if you know what I mean. The Dark Knight was really entertaining and Heath Ledger was phenominal, but I really like Benjamin Button as a character overall.
Best line from The Curious Case of Benjamin Button: Spoiler:
That cracked me up.

I'm torn between those two movies as well. I originally thought Dark Knight would get my pick, but after seeing Benjamin Button I just couldn't decide. That movie just gave me a good feeling when I left the theater. Dark Knight won me over in the entertainment category, but Benjamin Button just is one of those movies I just genuinely liked everything about it. I think it was the characters that really won me over.

i liked The Dark Knight, but i have to say Gran Torino. the dark knight was a good movie to add to library but its just something about the movie i didn't like and i'm not sure what it is, maybe that the joker kept blowing things up over and over

The Wrestler. Amazing movie, and it's not just because I am a big fan of pro-wrestling. Hell, if someone would ask me why I love a "fake" show like pro-wrestling, I'll just mention this movie.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wrestler_(2008_film) I'll post the trailer for the reason that I get to see it again for no reason: |

The Dark Knight for me too.
I think it was a poor year for cinema. I can't think of any really memorable movie beside TDK and Wall-E (I have not yet seen "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" named above as it is not released yet in France) |

The Dark Knight but, keeping in mind would be Slumdog Millionair. that movie made me feel so good at the end and by the end of the film i wanted him to do so well and meet up with his love.
the movie was vey uplifting and you find yourself cheering him on. great last question as well. i won't say any more.

I won't agree with the greatest part, but the first part is something I do also believe. There are a few others that I can put next to it (Milk and Frost/Nixon), but this movie is quite unique in its expression, and its difference puts it ahead of the others.

So far Gran Torino has been my favorite film this year. though I still need to see the Wrestler and Benjamin Button. Slumdog Millionaire is probaly my runner-up.
Though I absoultely loved The Dark Knight, I don't feel it's best film of the year material. But it still has a place as one of the best movies of all time. Note: I'm so pissed that Gran Torino didn't get any oscar nominations. Hopefully they'll be able to nominate it next year if it for some reason couldn't be in the running |

Everyone loves an underdog
Just watched Slumdog Millionaire. It's fun. It's original. It's exotic. It's visceral. It's Trainspotting meets Bollywood.
It's a very straightforward story actually, not grandiose like The Dark Knight. It's a simple tale of steadfast love and dumb luck, but avoids the maudlin sentimentality of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. I'm betting on it to win Best Picture at tomorrow's Oscars. |
