No big deal, I do tend to re-structure characters quite a lot before I sit down and actually write with them. Fortunately the tweaks I'm doing now aren't that major, and merely influence her fighting style rather then everything. Taking away the full-ranged and instead making her a more well-rounded fighter, and I'm utilizing canon to do what the thread considered overpowered up to now: Make projection workable.

Kinda taking in idea that I first opposed and making it workable. Though I guess reading up on Sword Dancers and my already sizable like of Archerko does that to me. *shrug* Gives me a 16+ image for Syn to work with as well.

Ugh.... I have to sit down and watch Index, but up to this point I just find any episode lacking Mikoto to be completely unattractive. <_<

I'm stuck though at episode... blah, I don't even remember which episode, but Touma just lost his memories. I need to get the drive to watch back up, but a combination of 'no drive' and me finally getting the drive to work through the boring intro and into the meat of Tsukihime kinda put a damper on that.

Oh that should be about episode 6-7. After that is a Aisa arc, then the epicness. Just bear 2 episodes of that, and Biribiri will be with us for the rest of the way. You could say they made us wait 11 episodes for 7 straight ones of win.

And you expect me to say something, alert everyone and kill the idea when I can just ride the wave for my own ends? No I'll just keep my cards to my chest and know that my latest build, backed up by input from Shouryuu, Lowe and Aaron, works. Having 1 more contributor is keikakudoori. Too bad I can't say more.

This one Remington Smith looked at the succulent red tomato soup laid out in front of him, garnished with freshly chopped herbs and a swirl of white cream. There was no denying the allure of its aroma that wafted through the air, or the beauty of its presentation. But hesitation is always the first emotion a taster experiences when trying out someone’s first time cooking – especially when that someone is a very special person.

Said someone was looking taciturn as always, like she was indifferent detached to the entire matter. A slight fidgeting of her hands though betrayed Mai’s nervousness at the impending verdict. And Smith knew all too well the not-too-pleasant consequences of crossing with Mai’s emotions, not when she had poured all of her heart and her skill into the creation of the meal served before him. Given her fondness for all food in red hue, discretion was even more imperative in this regard.

No matter the outcome of the examination, it shall be known that this day, Remington C Smith had sallied forth into this endeavour with much zeal and courage.

“Graces.”

And he partook in a spoonful of the much anticipated soup.

“oh-“

There was nothing to fear after all, for whatever Mai did, she had succeeded splendidly. This exquisiteness, this sublimeness of flavor was more than his could ever have imagined for a first time effort. Unfortunately his native tongue did not have the words to convey the marvelousness of her creation. And so, feeling very much indulgent to his lovely charge today, he tried another tongue to do so, with much enthusiasm:

In the wide expansive territory owned by the Time-Space Administration Bureau, there is a special unit of men and women that are above the law. Though they adhere to the rules set by the Bureau, only they have the right to break the laws if it means that they can better protect it. They are the Special Police of the TSAB, hiding in plain sight with their jet-black uniforms and astonishing skill in magic. Some call them spectres, ghosts, black operatives... some Earth-savvy mages even call them Jedi Knights, but this is not the case.

These are the Enforcers, the Special Forces of the TSAB (Well, the only ones that are well-known and publicized). Highly trained, formidable shock troops, detectives, assassins, police, or whatever they need to be, they are neither the left or right arm of the Bureau, instead acting as the guardian angels of the large controlled territory known as Ordered Space. Although sometimes criticized for their more ruthless tactics, you will never find a group so dedicated, loyal, honorable, and noble as the Enforcers. Most mages in training aspire to rise to become one, though few ever truly be scouted for the black uniform, and fewer still will ever gain the privelage of wearing it.

Although considered by many to be an extension of the Navy, this is not necessarily the case; rather, the Enforcers use the Navy as a go-between for missions, using the expansive fleet to get from Point A to Point B, ever traveling to their next destination and their next mission. They operative with the Navy just as much as they do with the ground and air forces, and can do any job well, sometimes better than those specialized in it. This is their calling; to be an Enforcer demands that you be the best.

Scouting:
Becoming an Enforcer isn't something you necessarily sign up for; it's something that you are also chosen for. Although you may go into the military hoping to become one, it takes an actual already-existing Enforcer to scout you and deem you worthy of undergoing the rigorous training it takes to become one.

There are several criteria to become an Enforcer: A mage must be at least A rank to even be considered, although there are exceptions to this depending on if a mage has other talents to make up for a lack of sheer power (an example would be Teana Lanster before she actually became an Enforcer); a mage must have already done something above and beyond the call of duty to catch the eye of the Enforcers; upon being scouted, a mage must immediately go into Officer Candidate School and pass the exams to be admitted.

Even so, all of this will not guarantee that a mage be scouted; many of the recruiting Enforcers have other, more personal criteria that a mage must meet before being scouted, and it varies from one to the other. There's also the chance that the one scouted might outright reject the offer, as Nanoha Takamachi did when she was approached with the offer to join.

Training:
Upon finally being scouted and accepted, a mage must then undergo two months of training in the space station T-98, also known as "Hell's Boot Camp" by many. A large facility orbiting a planet on the far side of Ordered Space, T-98 puts recruits through a rigorous training regimen that runs the gamut from PT to Forensics to Assassination and everything in between. Here, the recruits are given limiters for the first month, taking them down to D-rank and forcing them to endure constant 1.5Gs of artificial gravity on their own power without magic while they continuously undergo 12-hour training days for five days and learning other related skills on the other two.

There is no such thing as a day off, although an Enforcer-in-training will be allowed sick leave if necessary, or personal time off if there is a serious matter back home (weddings and family deaths in particular, although Fate Testarossa was allowed leave time on a couple of occasions due to her unique case). A recruit is expected to make up for the missing days upon return as soon as possible.

Because of the rigorous training, both physical and magical, for many the training starts early. Before actually sending them off, many Enforcers will take someone that they've scouted under their wing for a period of time, teaching them some of the basics and preparing them for what they're about to go through (As Fate did with Teana) to make their time at T-98 easier.

Upon the end of the two-month training course, those that receive passing grades become Enforcer Third Class mages, and become the Special Forces of the Bureau.

Missions:
As an Enforcer, one must expect to undertake all sorts of missions. Usually, if an Enforcer is asked to handle the situation, then it is a matter of the highest priority and must be dealt with accordingly. An escort mission would imply that the one being protected is highly valuable, perhaps a world's king or prime minister, for example, and an investigation means that the fate of millions might hang in the balance depending on the evidence discovered.

This isn't always the case, as it may. Many of the Enforcer's missions aren't really considered to be assignments by them; instead, it feels more like "busy work". Fate's experience with RF6, although serious in its Lost Logia hunt, was still easy work until the whole mess with Jail went into full swing, for example.

Since an Enforcer can tackle any sort of mission, rarely will there need to be 2 occupying the same area, and if there is, there's a good chance that something big is going to happen.

Ranking:
Although effectively Officers to some degree, within the Enforcers there is a seperate ranking system that depends on an Enforcer's skill, success, and talent, among other factors.

All Enforcers start as Third Class, effectively an O-1 or O-2 depending on experience. These Enforcers handle most of the low risk jobs.

An Enforcer Second Class is roughly O-3 or O-4 (usually designated O-4 in many cross-branch assignments) and handle riskier assignments. Chrono during the Jewel Seed and Book of Darkness Incidents was an Enforcer Second Class, and Fate was promoted to Second Class some years before the Scaglietti Incident.

After many years of experience and dedication, as well as handling several dangerous assignments, an Enforcer is upgraded to First Class (O-5/6) and is given what's called "Contractual Amorality," meaning that they have the right to do what they see fit when presented with any situation. This means that, although Enforcers of this grade still take orders from those higher than themselves, they also have the ability to give orders to lower grade Enforcers and grant assignments as well. Fate had become a First Class due to the events of the Scaglietti incident.

Usually, Enforcer First class is where many "top out" and probably won't advance further. To advance in any career, usually an Enforcer will transfer out of the group, becoming an officer in another branch. Chrono did this and quickly was promoted to Admiral, for example. However, an even higher tier of Enforcer, known as the Arbiter Class, does exist. Composed of roughly only one hundred individuals at any given time, these Enforcers usually don't do assignments; it's a desk job, essentially. However, it's known that, if a situation commands it, extreme circumstances will force an Arbiter to go on assignment. Be sure that if an Arbiter has to go on a mission, the situation is critical.

The chain doesn't stop there, either. All organizations need a leader, after all, and in this case the Enforcer Avatar exists. A sole position, this is solely a job that deals directly with the government; a political job given to an Arbiter that has agreed to and is voted by the other Arbiters to become.

If they are given the right to break the laws, then they aren't really breaking it, aren't they?

Nitpicking aside, are there any limitations to this right? Some laws they can't break? Do they get to break or bend more laws with increasing rank? Is there a review process for every law they break at work, and they only get immunity for violations that are reported and deemed necessary, or is it all on the "honor system"?

We all know TSAB training is something of a joke, but there is no need to explain why so clearly...

The training is "intensive" or "severe", but any training that tries to cover so large a gamut in a mere 2-months can hardly be called "rigorous". Two months, even if dedicated to one subject like Forensics, might optimistically make the Enforcer able to fake being a pro in front of non-pros and only if they don't poke too hard. With everything in the way he'll be lucky if he learnt how to lift a fingerprint right in that time...

The only way this can possibly work (w/o implying the education is of a terribly basic standard) is if those 2-months are really nothing but final prep - everyone is supposed to have picked up the various skills required before getting the paws in the door, to the point where they could probably have passed even without the course. The course is only there to provide a final review and wrap-up.

No problems to be seen with the background that you've set up, but like Ark, I would be either lengthening the training period or altering it to be a 'refresher' course held under "Real-life" conditions. I say this because my own group of OC's that I've styled to be the support team(Naval Support Office) for the Enforcers within the navy go through a minimum of 5 months 'on job' training under close supervision. After getting let loose from the course, they then serve with an experienced Enforcer or NSO team for another few months before they would be considered ready to support a 'junior' enforcer (In your case Enforcer 3rd Class).

Other than the issue with their training, the rest of it looks ok to me.

This little diddy takes place during those shorts with Vivio I wrote some time ago. Not sure how long this one will go, but it should be fun.

By the way, don't take this TOO seriously. This runs on SCIENCE!, not serious business.

Twenty nine years. With the life expectancy of Mid-Childa, most would view that age to be
barely midlife. Indeed, at such an age most would be busy working hard, raising families,
and seeking to better themselves. It was a time to be an adult and teach the next generation
the wisdom of the ancients and spurn the creativity of the young, a task she dreamed of
having and eventually realized. What a wonderful life she had, together with her friends and
family.

So why did she, of all people, have to die? All the doctors, they all said only a few years was
shaved off her life expectancy as a result of pushing her body beyond her limits. Years ago,
she had cleared her debt with hard work and willpower, but now… now Nanoha paid the
ultimate price.

Nanoha Takamachi, Combat Instructor for TSAB Armed Forces, rank Captain, died at the
age of twenty nine. Cause of death: catastrophic organ failure. The doctors were wrong; it
was not years, but decades. She was survived by her daughter, sixteen year old Vivio
Takamachi, TSAB Special Forces, rank First Lieutenant.

The memory of the funeral was still vibrant in the back of her mind, haunting her dreams and
every waking moment. Some thought her strong to continue working as if the death had not
affected her badly. In reality, she was weak, unable to heal completely from the tragedy.

Today was the anniversary of that sad day, the day Nanoha died. Unsurprisingly, Vivio
found it impossible to embrace the tranquility of sleep.

You have a meeting in the morning, my lady. You’ll not make it in time if you remain awake.

The girl didn’t even blink at the voice. She had long gotten used to their presence, the spirits
of Knights long dead but forever sworn to the Sankt Kaiser’s service. They existed now as
something else, a power beyond even the Tome of the Night Sky's reckoning.
“Yeah, I know… I just can’t fall asleep.”

It’s been two years. You cannot let that tragedy dictate your life, my lady.

“I know that. I’ve been trying to convince myself of that for those two years. But…”

It is difficult, yes. Some losses leave terrible scars.

“I can’t help but feel at fault, you know? She had to go all out for me, all because of that
damn Relic and the Cradle!”

If she had not, would we still be here? She gave a part of her life for you, and for ten years
she watched you grow. You are a full woman now, my lady.

Ten years… she had a mother for ten years.

“I just wish… I wish that I could’ve done something instead of standing around crying.”

What could you do? Lady Nanoha was already injured from a previous incident. Her life was
shortened then; the events of the Cradle merely opened old wounds.

The teen made a grunt of irritation, “I know that! Knight Steiner told me that even before mom
died. There… there really wasn’t anything I could’ve done, I know that. Unless I can travel
through time or something…"

[That is not an impossibility]

This time, Vivio did jump. By her bed rested the device Avalon, a gem similar to Raising
Heart, but holding an ancient power. Avalon was not one to speak often, but when he did,
rarely was it in jest.

“What do you mean?”

[Do not forget what I am. As the Throne of Heroes, a part of me exists outside of time. This
allows me to summon contracted souls at any time to any place. These souls are not bound
to me, but to a power transcending mortal understanding. By manipulating these effects, I
believe I can transport you to the temporal coordinates of your choosing. In short, I will be
summoning you into the past]

Are you seriously thinking of—

“Time travel. You’re saying you can travel through time?”

[It is a power that is not fully understood, even by me. However, I can make it possible.]

“You are the greatest deus ex machina ever,” Vivio’s heart rushed with excitement, the very
idea of jumping through time sending a flood of ideas through her brain. Already she was
out of bed, messily throwing on a set of clothes.

My lady, this is madness!

“Madness? …Maybe. But it’s also the best chance I got to save my mother’s life!”

Do you even have a plan? One can’t just leap through time and play everything by ear.

“I’ll think of something.”

But what of your friends? Your family? Sir Erio, Lady Caro, Lady Lutecia, they will be
distraught along with those you call the Numbers. What of Lady Subaru and Lady Teana?
Of Lady Hayate and her Guardian Knights? And Lady Fate… she will be utterly inconsol—

“Stop. Don’t. Just… don’t. I don’t need that guilt. Just… let me be selfish, for once.”

You risk hurting the ones you also called family, Lady Fate and Sir Yuuno, even more.
Think you the only one that suffered from this tragedy? This could very well destroy them.

“I said stop it! I know what I’m doing is horribly selfish; I know that even if I do things
right, I’ll make people worry terribly about me. I know all that! And… it doesn’t make it any
easier!” Vivio’s voice quivered as she fought to keep the tears from falling. What excitement
she had previously was now threatened to be washed away by overwhelming guilt. Yet she
could not let this stop her; she could not let this bring her down.

“I know that I could ruin everything. But I could also save my mother. My life, my existence
is all owed to her. Before she died, she told me to live my life the way I wanted to. I know
that this is not what she expected, but it is my choice.

She picked up the gem that was Avalon, staring at its brilliant ruby color.

“I have no regrets. This is my only path.”

…So long as you understand. I will stand by you.

“Avalon. Do it.”

[Understood. Activating summoning ritual. Opening temporal circuit. Establishing anchors
in target coordinates.]

This is dangerous to the highest, most extreme degree. The slightest error could alter the
timeline irreparably, or even cause a paradox. At worst, we will witness a similar tragedy
as that which ended the reign of Al-Hazred.

A deep shiver ran down the girl’s spine. The margin of error was painfully narrow.

[Location confirmed. Bridging the gap.]

Do you still want to go through with it?

[Connection established. The gate has been opened.]

Vivio refused to hesitate for even a second.

“Let’s go.”

Without a single look back, she leapt into the gate. The world as she knew it exploded into a
vibrant chaos of swirling colors and a bizarre tunnel-like visual. How strange, she thought
idly, that time travel looks suspiciously similar to a video game’s representation. Like some
crazy convoluted pipe or super-slide that just wouldn’t end. A constant ringing sound echoed
through the “tunnel,” like water being poured over many small bells. In both an eternity and
in an instant, Vivio’s vision was a pitch black darkness… then the brightest holy light.

And suddenly, she felt the sun warming her face, a gentle salty sea breeze washing over her
body. The grass under her was cool and soft, a paradise she almost wished she could stay in;
a paradise also spun like a goddamn top jammed into both her eyes while the rest of her
spun in the opposite direction.

“Wow. What a trip!” the girl breathed, waiting for the world to stop spinning and flashing
bright colors everywhere. In time her vision returned to normal, though she remained on her
back to quell the nausea. Why did everything look so much bigger? “So… did we make it?”

[We are in Uminari City, exactly as spatial coordinates say. However…]

A small grimace passed the girl’s face as she realized what this could mean, “Oh boy, I do
love difficulties.”

[We missed our intended temporal coordinates by approximately one year local time. I

Vivio sighed and leaned against the railing, feeling the bay’s cooling breeze against her back.
Things were not all going according to plan, and damn it if it’d get any better. But she knew
her mission, and even if she had to wait one whole year, she would do so. Even if she could
not find that happiness once more, then at least, someone else, the Vivio of this timeline, will.

This little diddy takes place during those shorts with Vivio I wrote some time ago. Not sure how long this one will go, but it should be fun.

Twenty nine years. With the life expectancy of Mid-Childa, most would view that age to be
barely midlife. Indeed, at such an age most would be busy working hard, raising families,
and seeking to better themselves. It was a time to be an adult and teach the next generation
the wisdom of the ancients and spurn the creativity of the young, a task she dreamed of
having and eventually realized. What a wonderful life she had, together with her friends and
family.

So why did she, of all people, have to die? All the doctors, they all said only a few years was
shaved off her life expectancy as a result of pushing her body beyond her limits. Years ago,
she had cleared her debt with hard work and willpower, but now… now Nanoha paid the
ultimate price.

Nanoha Takamachi, Combat Instructor for TSAB Armed Forces, rank Captain, died at the
age of twenty nine. Cause of death: catastrophic organ failure. The doctors were wrong; it
was not years, but decades. She was survived by her daughter, sixteen year old Vivio
Takamachi, TSAB Special Forces, rank First Lieutenant.

The memory of the funeral was still vibrant in the back of her mind, haunting her dreams and
every waking moment. Some thought her strong to continue working as if the death had not
affected her badly. In reality, she was weak, unable to heal completely from the tragedy.

Today was the anniversary of that sad day, the day Nanoha died. Unsurprisingly, Vivio
found it impossible to embrace the tranquility of sleep.

You have a meeting in the morning, my lady. You’ll not make it in time if you remain awake.

The girl didn’t even blink at the voice. She had long gotten used to their presence, the spirits
of Knights long dead but forever sworn to the Sankt Kaiser’s service. They existed now as
something else, a power beyond even the Tome of the Night Sky's reckoning.

This time, Vivio did jump. By her bed rested the device Avalon, a gem similar to Raising
Heart, but holding an ancient power. Avalon was not one to speak often, but when he did,
rarely was it in jest.

“What do you mean?”

[Do not forget what I am. As the Throne of Heroes, a part of me exists outside of time. This
allows me to summon contracted souls at any time to any place. These souls are not bound
to me, but to a power transcending mortal understanding. By manipulating these effects, I
believe I can transport you to the temporal coordinates of your choosing. In short, I will be
summoning you into the past]

out of bed, messily throwing on a set of clothes.

My lady, this is madness!

“Madness? …Maybe. But it’s also the best chance I got to save my mother’s life!”

Do you even have a plan? One can’t just leap through time and play everything by ear.

But what of your friends? Your family? Sir Erio, Lady Caro, Lady Lutecia, they will be
distraught along with those you call the Numbers. What of Lady Subaru and Lady Teana?
Of Lady Hayate and her Guardian Knights? And Lady Fate… she will be utterly inconsol—

crazy convoluted pipe or super-slide that just wouldn’t end. A constant ringing sound echoed
through the “tunnel,” like water being poured over many small bells. In both an eternity and
in an instant, Vivio’s vision was a pitch black darkness… then the brightest holy light.

And suddenly, she felt the sun warming her face, a gentle salty sea breeze washing over her
body. The grass under her was cool and soft, a paradise she almost wished she could stay in;
a paradise also spun like a goddamn top jammed into both her eyes while the rest of her
spun in the opposite direction.

“Wow. What a trip!” the girl breathed, waiting for the world to stop spinning and flashing
bright colors everywhere. In time her vision returned to normal, though she remained on her
back to quell the nausea. Why did everything look so much bigger? “So… did we make it?”

A small grimace passed the girl’s face as she realized what this could mean, “Oh boy, I do

I know the device didn't match up (unless a stretch of justification), but with everything else from her having lost her mother, to her links to Kha, her artificial birth as a clone, and especially the usage of the Throne of Heroes to move through time...
