I actually saw a lot of anime girls with nose bleeds, probably as much if not more than male characters. I even remember a scene from Sailor Moon when one of them had a nose bleed, I always thought it was a gag for all characters... not just the males. ^^;

Yup,girls have nosebleeds as much as boys,though they're not as center at the boys. With boys,nosebleeds are usually open and a center point in that moment. With girls,they're usually covering it up,or something else is happening on screen to distract us.

The opening theme is "Superscription of Data" by Eiko Shimamiya.
The ending theme is "Manazashi" (まなざし, Look) by anNina.

Depends on the presentation. This was a fanservice episode, but also a comedy episode. It didn't take itself seriously, and the audiance shouldn't either.

Higurashi has always had an amount of fanservice (author's fetish I suppose), but it is also used as a counterpoint for the horror/mystery plotlines. Also helps get you to like these characters before everything goes wrong.

Also the fanservice was not isolated to the girls, nor has it been really. It is just that there are more girls in the show to start with for the most part. This episode has plenty of fanservice with K1 and the "Soul Brothers". Also fanservice is sometimes something a character does that the fans would enjoy rather than simply skin shots and the like. The various combat scenes are very fanservicey in this episode.

Not to put too fine a point on it, I didn't take this episode seriously, too.

To be honest, the fanservice disturbed me...^-^; I'm just not into that stuff...but I did like the episode. X3 And the opening and ending songs were pretty!

I have seen the second OVA. Now I'm waiting for the sub since it has a more interesting plot.

Hmmmm, two-month hiatus between OVA 2 and 3. I'm curious as to why that is...

If they do get a chance ot make a thrid season i'd be onyl somewhat happy. I've suffered from this series in amny ways but still like it--ALTHOUGh! How would they really continue the series. I just don't see that happening after Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni Kai.....
