As for Yaoi issue.
According to reviewers at Japanese Amazon site, it's nice for Krimoto to have her long-lasting dream but most of us will end up with waking up from it sooner or later at a certain point. The top reviewer laments that a masterpiece has been reduced into a nonsensical work with the writing quality level of Doujinshi. However, there seems to be still a long way for us to go. Hopefully (and most likely), the anime adaptation won't hit the end of the road. |

Or the anime does not traverse down the nonsense path. Maybe Orro has a twin somewhere. I was rooting for him until ep. 3 events happened. There's a guy in the OP that looks a little like him. Istavan does have ED appearance as a sign of longevity.

Oh god, I need to reread the books, my memory of them is failing.
The good: We get glimpses of Ishtvan's past. The antagonists who were introduced were badass. The bad/the ugly: A significant drop in quality, while not as cringeworthy as some part of Minami-ke Okaeri or StrikerS (to name those that comes first in mind), it is worrying. I hope that this drop in quality is only a temporary thing and should improve later. On the brighter side, the pacing and the story continues to be enjoyable. |

Oh, there's no fantasy writer better than REH. Please do read his Conan and Kull works, and you'll see why I'm saying this. Sure, Moorcock can write - and I love Elric - but REH did it first - and better, IMHO.
Too bad I can't seem to find the Guin novels around these parts...

Don't worry guys, I read Howard and Lieber too, with a good Ursula Le Guin for good measure. As for Moorcok, Hawkmoon and Von Bek are good reads too.
Back to the topic. Spoiler:
Some are thinking that I keep saying the same things I did for episode 4 and 5. But I can't help it. While it's clearly a B-tier Satelight series in production values, it is the plot, the pacing of the mentioned plot, the music AND the characters that keeps you wanting more. No new subs atm is making me sad. I predicted that Guin Saga will be one of these series that won't get as much subbing love as K-On and FMA2. It looks like it was right. |

As far as I remember from the books, it does refers to his extraordinary "luck" that made him survive the worst situations when all odds are against him.

Question for novel readers, where is the anime upto so far in terms of novel material? Wouldn't mind knowing how much they adapt each episode from the novel. A few chapters, even maybe just one.

As for the plot and all, it really is pretty basic and almost average. But the classical way of moving things forward, studio Satellite's involvement (I'm becoming a huge fan of the studio. Maybe we can expect some spectacular animation in the final eps, as we've constantly seen from the studio) and the music. And wow, the music. It keeps sending shivers down my spine. OP/ED and even the normal background music. |
