I second every single one james recommended (although I didn't check Sherlock Hound and Master Keaton). Plus I will add Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro. It has supernatural elements and Neuro is badass.

I recommend Himitsu - Top Secret. It is a little sci-fi-ish.

You might want to add Mouryou no Hako to the list when the subs are completed. I enjoyed the eight episodes subbed by Aero before they folded up shop. Himmel and Rms just released episode 9 and have promised to complete the remaining four. Once they're done, I'll start again from the beginning.

I dont really mind supernatural kind of theme as long as they have a hint of detective I'd take it

and supernatural themes adds to the effect of mystery

Its really sad to see no one mentioned Sakon . This just shows may people have not been exposed to it . Sakon has to be on of the most under-rated and unappreciated show : (

Though this show has supernatural elements actually its not . Its an investigative show where laymen's approach is used to solve crimes . If your interested in Traditional Japanese Arts Crafts and Music this is the show for you .

Ayatsuri Sakon features in my all time favorite anime .After Ghost Hunt got over that was my staple : O

Those are all excellent suggestions. I actually recently saw Paranoia Agent (while it was raining and thundering outside ) and I highly recommend it.

I think you would perhaps enjoy and to add to the list:

I have not watched this anime myself so dont know if its an good idea to recommend or not . Its a very popular detective adventure drama usually coupled with illustrious likes of Conan and Lupin . As Conan and Lupin are difficult to follow due to sheer number of releases and availability .

The show in Q is Kindaichi . What attracted me toward this drama was the hint of a supernatural . Though I have not watched the anime I have watched 1/2 live actions . I was going through a phase where I was fed up with anime and had switched towards live actions . In that phase I encountered Kindaichi case files . Just recently I came across a batch release of this anime which spans 158 episodes, 2 anime movies , a live action movie and 3 Live Action specials .

Once I give this anime a try I will have very good idea if its good or not but going by LvA , its a show I wouldn't miss . The only downside as such is well 13/158 episodes have been subbed though a fansub group has recently shown interest, we will have to wait and see if it materializes .
