Something Intense

So I'm looking for an intense anime. Blood+, Elfen Lied, both amazing intense animes. Any other suggestions?

A few anime I consider to be intense:

Monster
Rurouni Kenshin - Tsuiokuhen
Berserk
Basilisk
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai

Intense as in..?

Based on the examples you gave, I can only assume you mean 17+ action animes:

Claymore
Devil May Cry
Ga-Rei -Zero-
Kara no Kyoukai
Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom
Shikabane Hime
TOKKO
Trinity Blood

There are many more in my anime list, but these are the ones I recommend. Oh and by the way, I think it is best for you to watch the entire series of Kara no Kyoukai. As for Shikabane Hime, watch both seasons. I only added a link each as that it is unnecessary, when you can click on the sequel link on the page.

I second Kara no Kyoukai, Higurashi, and Ga-Rei -Zero-.

You might also want to look into Baccano!, Darker than Black, and Mnemosyne.

You should also try Trigun, Noir, and Cowboy Bebop if you have yet to seen them

I second Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom, lots of violent action and an exciting story. I really look forward to this every week.

Higurashi would really depend on what kind of intense you are looking for though. Yeah, there are a few fairly graphic moments but not as many as a lot of people make it sound like; it's much more of a psychological mystery thriller. I've seen more than one person say they watched it looking for Elfen Lied-like violence and were disappointed, and that they couldn't see why people were raving about how great it was. The "cute" episodes that make up a pretty significant portion of the series could turn some people off as well. To summarize, I'd recommend it if you're looking for psychological intense but not if you're looking for mostly violent intense (especially the second season Kai).

Death note.
Intense, psycho thriller, genius vs genius trying to get one over each other.
I remember while it was airing how everyone was on the edge for most eps.
That was a pretty intense ride

I'd recommend Pandora Hearts, pretty intense in terms of warping your mind, creepiness and emotional power.

Yep, I am seconding this. I am also seconding the Higurashi and Monster recommendations, and let me add Paranoia Agent to the list.

Talking

Higurashi no naku koro ni / higurashi no naku koro ni kai

school days

Pandoras heart

I second those, there are alot of good animes listed I must say

Some has alot of simulatities with blood+ / elfen leid.... Some don't :P

I think you should start of with the Higurashi series. They resemble the animes you listed quite well if you look at the psychological design of the characters. and... well... The blood xD

Higurashi geos under the genres psychological, horror, drama and supernatural

Paranoia Agent is a pretty brilliant - and intense - psychological drama.

Since Paranoia Agent is being thrown in there, I am going to suggest Satoshi Kon's (the man behind Paranoia Agent) directorial debut Perfect Blue.
Psychological thriller supreme.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann ?

It's a bit ecchi but the fight scenes were amazing.

Usually I won't suggest Code Geass because it's often suggested - but it seems right up the alley of "intense".
