Well, the butterfly wings may be more related to Sedna than Urin. Heck, considering the fact that half of Sedna was in the sea and half in the sky, she may not fall under either, but rather both. It's also possible that Butterfly wings might some symbolic thing.

And so, the dreaded complete battle episode comes... Love and big flashes and... well, the expected stuff.
I thought that was bad (well, to be honest, it is almost as amusing as the character interaction parts, just in the wrong meaning), but then the very mysterious end...
Umm... Bad End?
The main thing was with the insert song playing, what is supposed to be shocking(?) turned out very funny. Because it felt like they were trying to make us think it was some good story to make you sad... But the characters are like... dying or something and I'm like "Wait, wait, what is this?


The animation is as unfittingly good as usual though. Matsumoto finally proves he can do something , and the random service scenes are nice to watch out for.

My modem went dead during a thunderstorm last week, so I was unable to watch this episode. Fortunately, I've already watch both episodes 7 and 8 this weekend.

It feels depressing that Urin and Marin have been torn apart due to Sedna's mischievious influence, tampering with Urin's heart.

Spoiler:

Urin felt out of the picture and unwanted by Marin, and Sedna took advantage of the former's sorrow to bribe her with her power in exchange of breaking the Sea seal to reunite with it's other half.

Urin wants to be strong to protect herself and take Marin back.

Marin's overwhelmed with anxiety and let fear and recklessness to dominate her pure heart. By abusing those feelings, she's unable to transform into the Sea Maiden.

Yeah that was something. Poor Oshima, though knowing her she'll just bounce right back.

Checking CDJapan, and the soundtrack will be released on November 6th. A long way, though it'll be two discs. That makes up for the wait.

Gotta love it . That's how 'darkness' has been portrayed throughout the whole season (that is to say 'darkness-lite'; more cute and funny than actually threatening) and I have to say, it's one of its charms.

Well since subs for 10 are out I don't need to use spoiler tags.

Anyway this is the shit-meets-fan episode I've been waiting for. As I've said before and as Ye Old Turtle himself says, Sedna is formless and abstract and probably takes her physical form from the people, but now her presence has become concrete and physical in Urin's form. The darkness turning people into spiteful tactless asshats was a very nice touch in really bringing out the severity of the situation. I guess endgame begins in episode 11 unto the final battle.

That said, Yui Horie sure does have a full plate of creepy children roles this season with Urin and Ushiromiya Maria. Likewise, Urin at the middle of the episode is pedobear approved.

Well, in the first episodes Urin was all 'too cute and innocent girl' who we cannot think in a sexual way. Well, at least not otaku people.

i finally discovered why this anime doesn't give me that "Aria feeling."

1) its not by Kozue Amano (duh)
2) where Aria didn't flaunt its "we're in the future with future technologies" setting, Umi Monogatari is flaunting its "there is magic in the air" premise.
3) artwork isn't as inspired or unique, characters aren't drawn as likable
4) it's missing an Alicia Florence (or whichever Aria character floated your boat) type character to draw you in

Never before have I been so quickly motivated to pick up to once again pick up a show I dropped, and I'm not really sure why... since she was dressed like that from day one as you said.

Yes though your previous post basically ignores the fact that they are complete different genres. That post has nothing to do with the two shows having the same director.

The similarities between the two are mainly the character interaction scenes. They have Sato Junichi written all over them.
