facebook virus warning

Word to the wise, theres a virus going around on facebook that hijacks peoples accounts and forwards a message onto your other contacts containing the file.

I stupidly clicked on it and I'm pretty sure its forward it on to other people.

dont open it.

the message will say:

hey
Woow! Are you reaally in thhat viddeo? (Deleted the link)

do not click it.

AVG said it was a trojan virus but didnt offer a way to get rid of it.

See, if you know you're in no video... and none of your friends typed that way, you'd be in the clear.

I recommend anyone using Facebook take the ACLU "what we can see" quiz... it should make you think twice before doing any of the "stupid stuff" (games, quizzes, apps, etc) on Facebook until FB provides a clear user interface for exactly what information any thing is requesting.

Yeah I was a little gullable but today was my university graduation and my mum had just uploaded photos so there was a possibility that she'd shot video as well (the message came from her) so it wasnt completely unrealistic.

So ignoring that, how do I get the virus off my system?

so true, the best prevention method, don't participate in those kind of things.. facebook and myspace give me headaches specially if people start asking if I have one
The only funny thing coming off is that sometimes profiles are hacked and the hacker fills the profile page with either gay porn or pretends he's going to kill himself, you do not wanna know how many people fall for that and al though it is cruel I laugh my ass of when they post screenshots

Anyway something relevant, it is almost the same as an msn bot I came across to last month, my friend got his msn hacked it seemed and started sending me the same kind of message: "Hey are you in this video <link>" and several others involving a video link
Of course it is stupid seeing as we're in the same class and we don't live in England or anything so we speak out native language and not English lol
Be wary of your messages, if you don't trust it then don't click it, check spelling and the kind of link if it is video youtube is like the place to be specially with an average internet user.. but someone who knows decent English wouldn't type thhat

Well its a good thing I guess that at least some people are making some use of it (ie. that theft of information for marketing purposes), all be it for all the wrong reasons.

What's the benefit of having a facebook account anyway?

Lets see, we have facebook social network mumbo jambo sites that might as well next store your bank account passwords and details, then you have things like Twitter that bastardize the principle of weblog-ing into the nonsese we know of it today... gee, what will they think of next.

I was a victim. Had I read your warning sooner, I wouldn't have clicked that damned link (It looked a lot like a Youtube link). I had to go to Spyware Warrior and Beeping Computer forums to ask for help on removing those viruses.
