Preliminary Media Create numbers (rounded to the nearest thousand) are out.
Final Fantasy XIII = 189,000

Compared to the first week, there's a drop off of 87.4%, which is consistent with previous games.

Past second week numbers were as follows (Famitsu):

Final Fantasy XII: 217,438 (88.1% drop off)
Final Fantasy X-2: 181,798 (87.6%)
Final Fantasy X: 233,429 (86.7%)

Final Fantasy IX: 328,404 (83.2%)
Final Fantasy VIII: 270,993 (89.2%)
Final Fantasy VII: 329,740 (83.8%)

Ultimately, the PS2 installments had shorter legs than the PS titles, which reflects the differing states of the market at release (growing vs shrinking core game market, rise in used game sales).

Err I just finished the game, but can someone please explain to me the ending...

It's not even a matter of not understanding the Japanese, which I did, it was just waaaaaay out there.

Probably one of the worse Final Fantasys I've played all it basically is is one long tunnel and all you do is fight-fight-cut scene-shop online rinse and repeat, there's no exploring no mini games nothing apart from the odd kill quest at the end, it's almost like playing one of those on rails arcade shooting games.

If this is true, then perhaps I give too much credit to the online trolls. At least this is an improvement over the previous instalment.

So I'm at the point of the story where the next chapter lies in the characters proceed forward to the Oerha Village with a couple of queries at hand :-

1) What are some fast grind for CPs beside backstabbing King Behemoth for 4000 points worth of them. Been doing this for hours and it's becoming a bore.

2)Low on Gils need for some serious upgrade now. So what are some good hunts that yield high returns at this point in time ?

You are better off going to a specialist game form if you want play hints.

One does have a choice of seeking varying views throughout the realms, doesn't it ?

Likewise, I know of Japanese Wikia sites I can seek out.

1) You should try killing the Behemoth vs Megasterium instead of single Behemoths. It gives 6700 CP for 30 seconds and less, then run to the save point and repeat.

2) I completed the game without a single upgrade and only actually started making cash in New Game+ lol

But if you want big cash, you should get Crystallium level 9 first, which you will get at the end of Oerha Village. This is to get Death for Vanilla, her strongest attack.

With Death, all you need is to use Vanilla and summon Hecaton at the start of an Adamantaimai/Adamankerisu fight. They will fall to the ground immediately for 2 minutes, which then you will keep spamming Death until it dies. If Death fails, just restart. Killing the Adaman will give you 40000 CP, Platinum Ingot normal drop sells for 150000 gil or Trapezohedron rare drop, which costs 2million to buy in the shop.

Because summon takes 3 TP, you'll need to kill random mobs to recharge your TP, you can kill some Behemoths. Once you kill all the Adamans, you just save and reload to get them all back on the map. Its the best way to get both cash and CP at the same time.

You'll need this tactic if you want to kill a certain Adamantaimai in chapter 12.

Say, I don't remember reading about New Game + in this forum...
What happens when you use it? Do you start again with all your items and CP levels? Does the enemies get tougher and offer more rewards? Is there extra side missions in New Game+?

I personally enjoyed X-2 as well. It is a fun adventure game. And the only thing I am annoyed about is that 1. To get 100% you need to not skip cut-scenes and 2. the JP international edition has content that I could never get in the English version.

The New Game+ actually just allows you to continue the game after completing it.

You load your data and you end up in Pulse, with Crystallium Lvl 10 which is unlocked after killing the last boss. You'll need it to kill all the unlocked highest ranked Missions.

Even the strongest B rank monster, Jumbo Cactuar, is probably impossible to defeat before the last boss. Because of the insane monsters, I needed to grind for CP and cash.

You also get to revisit the last boss as well if you want to see the ending again.

I think its because people say its 100% fanservice and the story is trash. never played it tho so I won't know 100% but judging by the hot spring scene, It might be true XD
Only reason I played X was because of Auron =\

^Well the story is no trash, but it starts way too late. The first half of the game is just haddidaddi and childsplay.

Ah, thanks. That makes sense. It solves the old problem of needing to find out how far you can go before you get "trapped" and lose access to the sidequests. I do like all the changes they made for XIII very much.

Saw this posted GameFAQs, looks like FFXIII's development wasn't 5 years after all.

According to CGWORLD and what has been written on this forum post in Mandarin, FF13 development took around 2 years. Please note that the image for the timeline is small and all I can rely on is what has been posted on the site. I haven't seen the magazine nor it's clear scans.

Jan 2005 to June 2005-----Development of PS2 Version

July 2005 to Sept 2005----E3 FF7 Tech Demo caused an out roar. FFXIII switches platforms from PS2 to PS3.

Oct 2005 to June 2006---Preparation Work Stage 1. After the first E3 trailer was done they started working on the engine but stopped work on developing FF13.

July 2006 to Sept 2007---Prep Work Stage 2. Scripting and Storyboarding Begins,. Development team started becoming smaller.

Oct 2007 to June 2008---FF13 development official starts.

July 2008 to Sept 2008---Alpha version completed. Decision to make game for 360.

Oct 2008 to Dec 2008---ACC demo completed.

After June 2009---Adjustments made after reponse from ACC demo.

Jan 2009---Development/Porting for 360 starts.

Crystal Tools Development

Aug 2005 to Mar 2006---Development of White Engine.
Apr 2006 to June 2007---Becomes Crystal Tools.
July 2007 to Dec 2008---Further tuning to suit FF13.

That depends on whether you include planning, R&D, and prototyping in the figure. Square Enix likes to treat those as being separate from full-blown production (where the team reaches peak size and concentrates on cranking out content), whereas most developers don't.

Previously, CG movies were also excluded from project budget sheets (they were written off as R&D expenses), so Square has always done things a bit differently.

It's doable pre-boss.

Defender/Healer/Healer w/ defender min 12000hp, others min 10000
Defender/Healer/Blaster

Also, fog/pain resist accessories need to be fully upgraded to provide 92% resist and 66% duration decrease.

Pretty easy, just takes a long time (27min for me) pre-game completion

Well, Yuna was the one providing fanservice... But, she's one of the 25 best new characters of the decade!

to be honest, FFX-2 had probably the best battle system of any FF game.
