Spoiler for large image:
This puts paid to all those who were arguing about the Red Dog not being a Logia! The three Admirals truly are a set. I predict Luffy being able to punch Magma if Ace dies. Possibly Akainu will replace Sengoku as the head of a much-depleted Marines - and be focused towards killing instead of apprehending pirates.

^hey, I just saw Mr. Ragnaros the other day, standing in line outside Tanaris waiting for the new Hardware store for the grand opening.

You wouldn't BELIEVE how much of an asshole Akainu successfully made himself out to be. Oda knows the right words to push buttons.

Uh, wow. Akainu didn't just serve Ace a bigass slice of humble pie this chapter....... he practically crammed it down his throat. Sakazuki's verbal smackdown reminds me of all the trash talk Spandam gave Robin during Enies Lobby. Well, at least this will make it all the more satisfying when Luffy beats him down later in the series.....
Also, the way Ace lashed out towards Akainu definitely confirms in my eyes that he's still green compared to the rest of Whitebeard's commanders (ironically, Luffy was being the rational one this chapter). I'm still not expecting him to die, but I think it's safe to say at this point that Luffy's big bro won't be seeing too much action for a while...... Edit: Guess I should quote my favorite Akainu line, as well (of course, credit for trans goes to aohige): Quote:

Visual damage done to the logia body doesn't necessary mean the damage is exactly what you see.

Oh man. Akainu is a Grade A scumbag. It would have been so gratifying to see Whitebeard lay the smackdown on him...but ho well.
Silly Ace, he allowed his emotions to get the better of him yet again. Now his flames are gonna be burnt out by Akainu's vastly superior magma... |

akainu is really quite the bast*** here. but u must really admire how he is able to say all these stuffs so as to lure ace back to finish him off. this is really a mark of a true commander. play on ur opponent weakness and emotions and his magma is stronger than fire! now i really wonder wat is the tier system like for logia fruit

Rejoice, everyone!! Akainu gave Whitebeard a much needed reality check. The disgrace that is Whitebeard needs to die already. He is like a lingering bad odor, so his death will be doing everyone a favor.
So guys, who's ready to celebrate ?

I think what I like best about this chapter is that Akainu is living up to the expectations I've had for him since he was first shown during Robin's flashback. If the guy showed no mercy to otherwise innocent civilians who only had the slightest of connections to a small group of scholars, he sure as hell wouldn't do the same for Whitebeard's crew. Heck, he doesn't even cut any of his fellow marines any slack, considering how he fried that one soldier who tried to escape the battlefield.......
At this point I guess Akainu IS the top pickings for the next fleet admiral after this storyline is over and done with. After all, the government tends to favor ruthless peacekeepers, anyhow (just look at Lucci and Shiryuu). But even so, I still want to see some more action from Sengoku before he's demoted to a pencil pusher or janitor or whatever. |
