If Yama dies without using Bankai then it's a letdown indeed. From the most powerful Shinigami we expect the maximum power. An injury would be convenient if the spoiler is true.

If Yama-ji does "die" soon, you can bet Orihime will have to come in and do a hueg AoE heal that will restore everyone to 100% HP.

Pretty Epic yet anticlimactic way for Yamaji to go down . But if you think about it much better than falling for a cheap shot . Chapter says WW did not nullify Ryujin Jakka but absorbed its power . The previous chapter had given the impression he could nullify R.Jakka much like Szayel . WW absorbed its power and contained it withing himself . That does raise the question couldn't Yamaji deactivate his shikai or absorb it back into his sword .

The chapter has shown Yamaji's kido is in a league of its own . Yamaji could have used Danko if he wanted to . Yeah grasping for straws here ^__^ . Personally I feel its the right moment for Ukitake to resurrect himself much like <SPLR> Dann in GunXSword . Cheesy yes replace Elena with</SPLR> Senseiiiiiiiiiii . Next chapter will be most likely another confrontation between Aizen and Ichigo ..

as for the supposed throwing himself in the way to protect...I really hate that method when it's used as a cop out to get rid of the strongest character in the series, I didn't like it when they did it in the anime version of Soul Eater and I sure as hell won't like it in Bleach if it's true.
