Because that would be confusing. I also don't think I'd use all the turrets - just pummel the enemy with the 'main' one. Thus, why I prefer double-barrel tanks. More shells = more damage output.

Since I figure that you've gotten there by now, Cloner4000, what is there in the way of firepower and armor upgrades? Also, does any level of HT resemble a Tiger/Bengal Tiger tank? Or is it too soon to ask?
EDIT: Also, can you apply what I call attaché armor? (That would be like schüze put on Panzer IVs)

There is armor upgrades, such that in increase frontal, side or back armor. And each gun has it's various upgrades that increase fire power.
I still haven't unlock the heavy tank, I think I might be missing some events or parts. I don't really know. What do you mean by HT? currently I am stuck trying to gets items needed to upgrade my units to third-tier units, it turns out to be harder than I first thought. Because there is no grantee that your unit gets the type you need, and what you get seems completely random. And the battle now are no easy push over. I haven't even get to the New game +... That's about the only thing I wish they could change. |

Yea, the game is very fun, you'll probably spend a lot more time playing VC2 and it's probably one of the best game for PSP...
I suppose, if it's too easy then its no fun, but sometime it's just a bit annoying after the 5th time and you still can't get the one thing you need. I don't think I am any where close to getting it, but the enemy heavy tank like I say before have very heavy armor and you can probably customize it quite a lot so I am sure you'll like it |

Good. I need at least a decent strategy game for the PSP. Since I don't have PSN, RA1 for it is out of the question.
If it's too easy, I can back that up. I like difficulty. I suppose I'll have to get the Heavy Tank myself. If it's random like Royal weapons I'll rip my flocking hair out. I still haven't gotten the Thiemer M30R or whatever it was, and that's the only thing keeping me away from "Excellence of Armament."

...I might be the only person in this thread who's actually playing that game, albeit the Japanese version. Can't understand much (that'll have to wait for the US version), but the gist I'm getting is that there are attempts to depose Cordelia, and due to various issues the military academy kids are drafted to fight the GRA, who are the bad guys/rebels. Very much wake up, go to school, save the day stuff. From what I've played so far, there are 10 classes ingame. Your basic classes are Scout, Shocktrooper, Engineer, Lancer, and Armored Soldier (who carries a riot shield and hammer, and disarms mines and smacks people in close combat). From the 5 base classes, you can then further specialise in your base class, or upgrade to a further subclass: Scout upgrades to Sniper, Shocktrooper to Machine Gunner, Engineer to Bugler (who carries a bugle. Which seems to grant buffs), Lancer to anti-infantry Mortarman, and Armored Soldier to a knight (who has a greatsword, knightly armor and a huge shield). So far, haven't really played with snipers much. I have a fair number of Shocktroopers. Machinegunners tend to fire in a wide arc, which makes them useless for killing things on their turn - they make up for that with a large salvo size though. Plus, it seems that if they're used to support other units, they focus their fire, so i'm experimenting with that a bit. Playing it in Japanese with a rudimentary knowledge of spoken Japanese and almost zero knowledge of written Japanese is a bit of a challenge So far I'm alright, although I'm currently stuck on one of the missions in Chapter 3, wherein the crew finds themselves up against heavily armored Artificial Valkyur. It's a real pain in the ass, and I keep wishing I had Mammoth 27s or wanzers or Valkyries (last games I played were Front Mission 5 and Macross Ultimate Frontier...) As for the delay, 6 months is better than never. English speaking fans had to wait until December 29 2009 for the full fan translation of Front Mission 5, released in 2006, because Square Enix decided not to localise it. ...so is anyone else playing the game, and if so, any suggestions/ideas? I tend to operate fairly conservatively, moving infantry up in bounding overwatch and making sure they're mutually supportive... kept positioning them to surround enemies alot at first (which shows my influences - Front Mission players, especially thos playing FM5, tend to surround whatever targets they have).

I found myself going a considerable Brute Force route in VC1 (preferring the Edelweiss over the Shamrock for its armor and firepower), and I was an avid Shockie user. I'm also an active Soviet, GDI, and Chinese player in C&C, and those are all Brute Force factions. It probably does have to do with your 'background' in games.

...it probably wasn't a good idea to watch Band of Brothers before watching the VC1 anime and playing VC2 I keep thinking "What Would Winters Do?" and wishing my Scouts had M1 Garand rifles, and that the machinegun on my tank was the M2.

Pessimist potential, even if I agree with it, not welcome right now. As a possible Avan/Cosette shipper (and you'll hate me for it, DC), I want to know what the competition is. The non-homo parts, at least.

I can quote you as changing a quote about right vs. wrong into poking fun at the power of love. Unless, of course, we're both jealous of Avan. That's plausible, too.

>.> <.< And yeah, I do have a problem with "the power of love", but I don't have a problem with love in general. It can actually be good for a story, so long as it isn't the end all be all solution for every problem presented. Unfortunately, that's often the way stories like VC lean, and from what I've seen VC2 isn't looking to be my kind of game. The whole school route can be done very well (See: Persona series), but VC doesn't seem the place for that. The whole civil war and ethnic cleavage story is awesome... I don't really see how school kids add to that. |
