My Japanese is actually fairly weak (3rd grade non-native level maybe). First 3 volumes of the novel has been officially translated into Chinese however, which is the language I've read it in. From top of my head, Buddy Waters or apr, on the other hand, are two users here that probably read the original source material that frequents this board.

1-7 have been scanned(image) on jcafe. I posted the links on /a/ when 4-7 surfaced, so they should all be on /rs/ too.

Everyone knows Kida's the head of yellow turban now, and these guys had a "war" with Blue Square. Originally, Saki was a super fangirl (fanatic) of Izaya ('s cult) and approached Kida by Izaya's order. Kida obviously fell in love with her. Yellow Turban's only beating Blue Square with Izaya's information, so Kida was scared shitless to go by himself, hence the self-blaming and didn't dare to go see Saki.

Spoiler for Further spoilers for Kida's future with Saki:

Saki fell in love with Kida obviously since their meeting, and in the end didn't want to help Izaya anymore after the incident. She never blamed Kida and in the end they both eventually left Ike together after the remnants of Blue Square was resolved by volume 3 of the novel (but not really since the original Blue Square leader ended up appearing next volume =.=). Kida joins the online chat from that point on as Bakyura.

Free feel to hate Izaya along with me.

Yes, he is gone, and only hangs around ONLINE. They have no idea where he is in real life.

He doesn't leave until around the end of vol3 iirc, so it would be in the last episodes if they do Slasher arc->yellow turban arc.

That's disappointing, although I guess there isn't much you can do with him after the resolution the canon gave him.

The focus is really on Mika and Namie fighting, but he has a very interesting response to that. He's a very internal character, and he comes across a bit better in the books.

could someone explain what's the deal with Sonohara? from what i read on this thread she seems to be the slasher, but how did she obtain the demon sword?

If I'm not mistaken, the previous Saika owner was Anri's mother. After she died, Saika passed onto Anri's body and has lived inside her since.

From what I've heard, the only thing that prevents Anri from being succumbed by Saika is because she doesn't know a thing about love. Saika possesses people by whispering her love to them, but her words failed to pass onto Anri. This side of Anri had already been demonstrated in the anime. It made me wonder, however, that in case Anri finally accepts Mikado's feelings, won't that moment become her doom as well? That is sad, really. Anri and Mikado are by far my most favorite characters. I want them to end up together but there are so much, maybe too much, obstacles for them.

There's also a foreshadow in about volume 5 or 6, I think. My friend translated that part for me. It goes along the lines like: Anri decided on her own to help Mikado and then, at the same time, there were narrations about Saika's whisperings that seem to get louder and louder inside Anri's thoughts.
