So, Raiser asked for this, and I found it sitting around in my HD. It's a little early, but I guess it's not that big of an issue.

“Staring at me will not make this go any faster, you understand.”

Water, salt, flour, eggs, butter. Five simple ingredients that in proper ratios result in what Earthlings
call pâte à choux, also called choux pastry. A good number of different pastries could be made
from this base dough, but today’s goal was to produce small golf ball sized treats. A tray of the
pastries was already in the oven, baking into a nice golden brown.

Noland Reiniger, Ancient Belkan Knight but right now a pastry chef, tapped a small device next
to the oven, listening carefully as it chirped out the time remaining.

Five minutes remained. Good. Taking into account cooling and preparation time for the other
components, the dish would be ready very soon.

There was another person here, watching him silently as he mixed and measured. She had come
at his request, though she arrived a little earlier than expected. A minor setback, as it almost
ruined the surprise.

“Are you gonna tell me what you’re making?” Kaon asked as she cradled her head in her hands,
leaning on the kitchen table with one foot kicked up into the air.

However, seeing as how she had no idea what was going on, it was fine.

“No. Now pass me the raspberries,” the knight answered, turning back to the table.

A bowl of the fragrant fruit slid into his hands, to which half were poured into a small saucepan
with water and sugar. This simmered away on the stove, the berries gradually breaking down into
a rich sauce-like consistency as Noland slowly stirred it. The air was sweet, of fruit and of the
pastry baking in the oven, a mix of tart from the raspberry and the choux pastry’s warmth.

Kaon breathed deeply, enjoying the soothing scents. She felt no need to speak, content in just
watching her friend work. Breaks like this were few and far in between, and ones where she
could spend time with others were even more rare. All too often she was buried in work, or
burying herself in it. A cup of hot tea steamed gently in front of her, the greeting Noland extended
upon her arrival.

Ding! The timer’s bell. Noland retrieved the tray of pastries from the oven and set them aside to
cool, four apple-sized balls of golden brown deliciousness. At the same time, the raspberry sauce
was taken off the heat to cool as well. Replacing it was a new saucepan, this one with heavy
cream. Once it was heated, chopped bits of semi-sweet chocolate was stirred in until a smooth
ganache was made. By the time the chocolate was ready, so were the pastries and the raspberry
sauce. Sliced in half the pastries were, and set aside. A healthy bit of cream cheese smoothed out
the sauce’s tartness, as well as thickening and endowing a richer flavor. The other half of the
berries, retained from earlier, were then mixed into the cream. From bowl into piping bag, the
newly made raspberry cream was gently squeezed into the halved puff pastries.

Kaon watched with open fascination, already realizing exactly what her friend was preparing. In
spite of herself, she was getting excited.

“Many years ago,” Noland started, working as he spoke. “When I was a mere infantryman, I
met a strange person in the halls of the Saint’s Cradle. She was a cynical girl, always serious and
rather resentful to my presence. After all, I was just another buffoon with war on the mind that
murdered and followed orders like an obedient dog. After I became a knight, her opinion
remained unchanged. During all of this, I was personally requested by the Saint Kaiser to get
along with her. Oh, how difficult a mission she had given me…”

“Hey! I wasn’t that bad!” Kaon protested, slapping a hand down on the table in indignation as
she fought off a blush. “…Was I?”

“I admit I may be exaggerating a bit, but I do remember having to ‘help’ recategorize the
Imperial Library on my own, whilst you were summoned elsewhere.”

The filled puff pastries were placed neatly on a plate,

“Heh. That took you all night, if I remember correctly.”

“And you did it twice more.”

“Oh come on. It was just a joke.”

“I passed out of exhaustion the morning of the third time,” Noland replied dryly. “I did not wake
up for almost forty-eight hours.”

“Heh. Yeah, Olivie was pretty miffed about that one.”

The chocolate ganache was spooned on top of the assembled pastries.

“When I woke up, you were there, forced to apologize to me. Though reluctant, we finally
managed to speak to each other for an extended time. It was then, I believe, that we actually met.
All other previous moments were just incidences. Coincidentally, it was your birthday, or what
Lady Olivie proclaimed the day to be.”

And lo, the finished product was placed in front of Kaon: four cream puff pastries, filled with a
rich raspberry cream and a decadent chocolate ganache topping, arranged in a neat pyramid.

“Today, many years ago, we met for the first time. Our relationship has been rocky and uncertain,
but it also one I have cherished all this time. Happy birthday, Lady Kaon Jin. I am so honored to
have met you, and I am so glad you are here with me.”

“…”

It was quiet. She stared at the dish.

The knight heard no response, but a scrape of chair against the ground. Soft, light footsteps
walked around the table. There, she stopped, right in front of him. She seemed to stare up at him
for the longest time…

“Rrggh. Bend down! You’re too damn tall!”

Noland, 188 centimeters. Kaon, 140 centimeters.

The moment Noland was within range, he found himself stumbling backwards as Kaon launched
herself into him, her arms wrapping tightly around his neck. No words were needed, the two
hugging each other in the silent kitchen. Remnants from a time long past, survivors of a land long
gone.

“You’re two weeks off, by the way,” the inspector muttered into Noland’s shoulder.

“Oh?”

“The sixteenth, dummy. Not the third.”

“Haha, I suppose I was too excited to wait. My apologies.”

“Mmm,” she nodded, nuzzling the knight closer for warmth.

They stayed that way for little while longer, eventually parting with subtle reluctance. Slowly,
Kaon returned to her side of the table and pulled the treat towards her. How long had it been
since she got to have this? Earth had its share of delicacies, but this… a Belkan specialty, from a
certain farm and inn, far far away and from a long time ago.

“Thank you, Noland. Really,” she smiled gratefully, picking up one of the chocolate covered
treats. “But you know…”

“Hmm?”

“This is way too much for me alone to eat. Help me out here?”

The knight chuckled, nodding as he turned back to the stove. “Let me get some more tea going,
and I would love to join you.”

D'awww, that was great It was nice learning more about their history together. You really have a knack for food related stuff though, Tempest. Now I'm hungry

Nah. I just cook a lot as a hobby. Of course, in writing, it blends in at times.

Currently, I'm getting the next FfT done. Maybe I should get that Keroko-related one finished.

Oh I know that feeling. Finally finished my assignments for school so now I actually have time to write stuff and catch up on my anime, but I just can't decide where to start >_<

Let's see what I got on my plate writing wise... Three's Company, Ace Enforcer 2, Daemon Kaiser, rewriting Big Step, Location of Happiness, Life Goes On, one more piece for Holding Hands, two other Fate+Yuuno fics, a Shiro/Momoko, a Fate angst piece, a Teana/Vice lemon, another lemon by request...

... I think that's all of them I might have to resort to working on one by pulling from a hat Unless some one wants to tell me which one they want first.

EDIT: Oh, there's a Teana centric action fic too =/

Three's Company would be nice - It seems to be your most neglected fic at the moment .

However, I'd start off with another short for Holding Hands as shorts make it easier to the mood for writing I feel.

Heh, yeah, its definitely been left out in the cold. I actually do have a chunk of chapter 2 written awhile ago but I haven't done more yet

I agree shorts help you get 'warmed up' but I'm saving the next Holding Hands (which is the last idea I have) for a special occasion happening later this month. I think I'll do that lemon request instead.

Well, it wasn't actually intentional. I just forgot about the two-year difference between "Never Been Kissed" and "Never Confessed" and in so doing took it out of fanon. *looks around for a blushing-with-embarrassment smiley and finds for the eighty-fourth time that there isn't one*

Sometimes it's necessary to cut your significant other off at the pass when they're being all stupidly self-depreciating. Kissing usually works, but I figure that this required some actual, y'know, dialogue.

As for Lutecia's nickname and what actually happens regarding whether or not she remains a Shadow, that's currently up in the air. I admit that "Cia" was really less of a nickname and more of a lie, but I have an attachment to it that's hard to shake.

It's amazing how much easier I find it to start trying to use it as a symbolic character tag when, y'know, I didn't think it up. So much easier to use somebody else's ideas for fodder instead of tinkering with my own creations.

As for whether or not she remains an active Shadow, I'm debating if I either keep her that way, have her retire, or end her career in a more... permanent fashion.

That's the second time in two days you've mentioned killing her off in the end. Are you attempting to gauge the size of the potential mob?

I don't know if Mozco was actually meaning that, but I came away with that as being part of the whole "it's all been installed at the factory!" conspiracy idea--that is, that the bug should have been detected, so it couldn't have been transmitting, but its battery was low, so it clearly was transmitting, and yet it was never detected, so it goes beyond "somebody bugged this" and to "somebody's playing games with our whole surveillance and counter-surveillance systems"--that is, their bug detectors have been tampered with to prevent them turning up these special bugs that the brains-in-the-jars had been insuring were implanted more or less everywhere.

(Though personally, I think your point on the complexity of traducing so many different companies and suppliers was well-taken...)

One other mistake for Infinity c.20 I spotted and forgot to mention in my review: "sheathe" gets used instead of "sheath" in the infirmary scene, where Signum is talking about her sword (come to mention it, Laevatein's name grew an extra "n" there as well). While "sheath" can be noun or verb, "sheathe" is exclusively the verb spelling.

I can almost guarantee that nobody has done that, so it's unique. And if done properly, it should be fairly interesting... in the way two trains hurtling unstoppably toward each other is 'interesting'...

Well, I'd have to pass on that. I had planned on writing an AU fic before but then dropped the idea when I remembered why I don't write AU fics: because I'm way too lazy to re-establish characters and settings It's far easier to use the stuff already established by the show.

Plus, I'm generally not good at writing yuri anyways, nor am I that motivated to write it. That I even wrote some ViCia is a miracle in itself

Anyways, don't think I'm moping over this or anything because I'm not. Of course I would certainly be happier if I knew something about my ViCia stuff was notable compared to other ViCia works. We all like feeling special, don't we.

The purple haired Belkan Summoner was walking down a corridor of the Ground Forces HQ after handing the reports of her recent operation to General Yagami. She was thinking about the recent mission, massaging the back of her hand where Aesclepius was. The twisted wrist was the least of her worries in the moment, though. There was much more pressing matters to handle.

"Cia..." Like pampering a whiny girlfriend who wasn't happy with the latest developments.

"Vi? What are you doing here."

"Like Burning Glory won't tell me when your device changes from battle mode to stand-by." The girl pouted.

"Oh, right."

"Why didn't you called me when you got back?"

"Erm, Vi? I got back..." She looked at the clock on one of the walls. "...around fifteen minutes ago."

"You would wait until when to call me then?"

"Until I got at least out of Head Quarters?" Lutecia tried. She could be annoyed by this conversation, but at the moment, she was glad that her girlfriend had yet to bring up...

"Tell me that it isn't true."

The issue. Lutecia finished her thought. "Nothing we can do about that." How does Vivio manage to change the subject so fast was beyond her.

"But it's not fair." Sixteen years old Takamachi Vivio complained. "We know each other far longer than they have."

"As I said, nothing we can do about that." Lutecia Alpine answered with an air blasé.

"But I can't... I'm not... I won't!" Vivio gave up finishing her sentence, pouting.

"It's not our decision to make. It's theirs." Lutecia tried to soothe her girlfriend.

"But, but, but..."

"No buts." The purple haired finally said, trying to put an end to the discussion.

Vivio hung her head, defeated. "Even them are getting ahead of us..."

"Are we competing with other couples now?" Lutecia sprung the question in a way that made the blonde cut back at her.

"What does it have to do with this?"

"Everything."

"But how are they even going to..."

"It's not our place to ask them such a intimate question, is it?"

"I know, I know. But I really can't see it even happening."

Lutecia claimed the blonde's hand, while turning to walk in the direction of the exit. "We just have to accept it." Vivio was about to say something more when a finger tapped on her lips. "Accept it. And let them handle their relationship."

"Okay, but how is Burning Glory going put a ring on his finger? I mean, he's already a ring. And I didn't even know that Aesclepius was a intelligent device."

"As I said, let them handle their problems." Lutecia didn't want to even think about the problem. Some things are better unsaid.

Blame this totally on DezoPenguin. Yesterday I went and read all of his "Vivio's Happy Family Magical Theater" shorts, and it stuck A LOT of plot bunnies in my head.
