Question anime with pairs of fighters

Like in Loveless, for example, though I can't say I really liked that anime. Or perhaps like the Zampakuto Arc in Bleach.
Anime where there is a summoner and a summon, a sorcerer and a familiar, a living weapon and its wielder, in short, a pair of fighters who are somehow bound so they must act together in a fight. Thanks in advance!

PS Rozen Maiden already watched - forgot to add.

Will second Soul Eater. It easily sums up what you're looking for in a show.

Sekirei but it's more on the fanservice side imo. Although second season coming this summer.

Soul Eater, KIBA (to a lesser extent) and Shaman King, the most prominent example of this theme.

Though fighting isn't the central focus of Natsume Yuujinchou, there are occasions where Natsume and his familiar must confront demons.

It's a twist on what you're asking for, but D.N. Angel sort of fits.

Thanks for the new suggestions. I found I really like the "summoning" theme.

I second Elemental Gerade and maybe Zero No Tsukaima? Although the fighting for ZnT is towards the end of the series and they have very little fight scenes.

Two that spring to mind are:
Noir - Kirika and Mireille make a kick ass duo.
Gunslinger Girl - each girl has a handler and they always go into action together.

I thought about suggesting it too, so I'd say should give it a try.

Don't know if you seen Nanoha, but that has plenty of characters with familiars that fight together.

Shakugan no Shana is also one with a fighter and a "spirit".

Bit old school, the Vampire Hunter D movies. Main character has a familiar that lives in his hand, helps him out in fights, that sort of thing. Also delivers running sarcastic commentary, including what may be the best last line in a movie I've ever heard (at the end of Bloodlust).

If you like bugs, watch Mushi-uta. That one's a bit on the headscrew side though. I found it an interesting take on the concept of the summoned familiar.
