Mori's remodeling of Chosokabe's ship definitely seems impressive. Those sun mirrors are far more deadly looking than they were in the games (I sure don't recall being vaporized by them in his stage ^_^;

Matsunaga seems to love collecting trophies, cooperating with Hideyoshi seems to be a lesser priority for him.

Though, I am curious how closely the series is following the original games. I've only played the 3rd game so far, but

in Masamune's opening cut scene he was facing Ishida Mitsunari's army during this point in the story,

I guess the writers felt this was more dramatic ^_^

I seriously wonder if they are in fact going to kill off Hideyoshi this season. Hanbei dies and Mori will be stopped definitely but Hideyoshi could live on as the big bad for season 3, now with Japan under his rule. Other characters could form a resistance against him and the season will ultimately end with Ieyasu betraying him thus setting up season 4 as the Ieyasu vs Mitsunari season.

I welcome the coming of Yukimura who combines his hotblood and becoming his own man. His part in stopping Mouri in the final episode is undoubtedly the best.

I was slightly disappointed, I have to admit. There was a small hope in me that Hideyoshi would somehow still succeed and tie into a 3rd season. The fact that there were 5 or 6 different finales at the same time probably didn't help things. Not that I didn't enjoy it, just not as good an ending as the first season's I thought.

Curious as to what the movie is about. Possibly the final arc covered in SB3?

Just another season full of crazy battles... is what I would like to say, but there was an noticeable large amount of characters just getting depressed and other heavy material.
Not a bad thing, but I prefer the brainless super-battles, so...
But it was good. In an average way.

I do love epi 12 though I agree, the Oda battle was better. Maybe it's because masamune was the one who take out the final boss alone Yukimura did a great job though. but I wished those fights from each places last longer...

I'm very glad that there's a movie (sb3 hopefully) but i very much prefered if it's a season 3 series. oh well.

Maybe i'll have my overall thoughts after the ep12 subs is out..

Now that was satisfying finale. I knew I could count on Sengoku Basara to deliver a fun party as always. I have to admit, I didn't think Masamune would manage to defeat Hideyoshi on his own. He and Yukimura grew a lot throughout this season.

Overall, that was a very good season, but like serenade, I prefer the crazy brainless battles in Basara. Furthermore, there was a serious lack of OYAKATA-SAMA x YUKIMURA moments. I had the biggest grin on my face when they started punching the crap out of each other at the end of the ep, I've been waiting for it all season!

Somehow I was a bit disappointed they announced a movie instead of a third season but whatever, my soul is braced for anything they've got in store for us!

- i thought the red and blue will team up again, i was wrong

- there were a bit too many battles going on, they are very flashy and well-animated tho

- i also thought Toyotomi is the winner in the sengoku period, i suppose history is not the focus here

- overall a nice season 2

Great finale. The season itself was a bit inconsistent and overall not as good as the first one, but still a fun party, as Masamune puts it.

A little disappointing that neither Chosokabe nor Matsunaga had a part in the climax, but with all the battles going on, it was understandable.

Yukimura vs Mori was easily the highlight for me. The latter was definitely my favorite character this season, and even though the former's character arc dragged on for a little too long, it paid off in the end. Yukimura's definitely become a man.

Looking forward to the movie. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but much like with the first season there'll still be an extra DVD only episode for this one, right?

Strangely but I liked this final battle much more than previous one. I mean both were obvious but this kept me more intrigued.

Yukimura is definitely the best character for me in this season. And the OST is awesome as well. Hideyoshi's theme music is superb.

Overall 8/10, and for me 2nd season> 1st one.

Yeah this was a fantastic last episode. It was really everything you'd want from an episode of Sengoku Basara, which made it all the more amazing.

Best scene probably had to be Yukimura stopping the fortress, mainly thanks to his epic manly dialogue which just blew me away . Date's fight with Hideyoshi was also plenty epic, with some of the best English one liners we've heard yet. "BLAST OFF" being one of them . Speaking of Hideyoshi, it's pretty hilarious how he seems to grow in some scenes, i mean the one where he had a hold of Date with one hand he looked like a giant, though the scene before he wasn't that much taller then him . So good.

Hanbei's final scene was pretty , especially with the scene with the three of them sat on the hill which followed. Such a beautiful scene, and one that was really needed to be shown. It's a shame we never were shown the rest of Hideyoshi's backstory, though it's pretty easy to match the pieces together.

It's been so long since we've had a OYAKATA-SAMA - YUKIMURA scene, so it was great to see quite possibly the best one yet at the end.

Overall i enjoyed second season much more then the first, though it does help that the one-eyed badarse certainly delivered . First season is released here in blu-ray in a few months, so looking forward to a rewatch, and hope second season follows.

& i'm pleased with the film announced. The animation is sure to be off the charts, with the right staff working on it.

He made me laugh how his theme (This is a Fight to Change the World) was played three times in this last episode, each time being when the focus went back to his fight with Date. so epic.

a ton of fights. Oda fight last season was better I think. I thought season 1 storyline was better to. But all in all season was still good

I felt that overall I enjoyed season 2 more than 1 as well, however the last episode there felt like just too much was going on at once.

Perhaps I should try to rewatch the first season again to compare the two, though I'm not sure what it was that I feel is missing. Looking forward to the movie however! Here's hoping that it has much to do with SB3

It was a rather disappointing ending save for one bright spot--Yukimura. His final battle delivered on pretty much every front; I haven’t fuck yeah’d this much in a long time. His growth as a character was something to behold as well; Oyakata pretty much tosses him into the crucible from the start and all throughout the season we saw him flounder and struggle to survive. He lost friends, he lost his general, he lost his troops and at one point almost lost his life as well. He was without support for much of the season, without the guidance he’d always relied upon. He made mistakes and he paid for every single one of them. He started out the season by getting beat down five minutes into the first episode, ffs. Yet, in the end, he stood tall and fucking delivered. His ending was satisfying in every single way. I have no complaints whatsoever.

It’s too bad that everything else about the ending was lackluster. See: Date Masamune. His problem as a character that he’s defined by how “badass” he is--it’s like a female character being defined only by the size of her boobs, or as a “tsundere” alone. Compared to Yukimura, whose growth as a character was quite remarkable this season, he just felt so... cardboard. He started off the season as the triumphant, badass general--and ends it in the same way. His final battle against Hideyoshi was rather disappointing, as well. I understand that in a show like this, the power of the heart prevails over everything, but still--he gets tossed through four, five walls, gets thrown up a hundred feet into the air only to get Izuna Drop’d by a eight-feet-tall monkey man, then is punched into a castle so hard that the whole fucking castle collapses--but gets up without a scratch. What? Really, Production I.G.? Then it ends in a single second with him going Bankai. The only good thing about that battle was Date’s hilariously awesome Engrish, although the VA’s accent has gotten much better since the first episode of season one, in all its PUT YA GUNS ON glory.

Sam thing for Hanbei vs. Kojuro. Here’s the conclusion to eleven episodes of pent-up rage and sexual frustration. It starts off well: the clash of swords between Hanbei and Kojuro, their blades weaving in and out of reach, ducking, dodging, it’s good stuff. Then Hanbei gets felled by that deadliest of anime diseases: consumption. He coughs up blood. Oh noes. But no--Kojuro doesn’t finish him off because he has to make it clear that, you know, this is honorable and shit. And Hanbei goes Bankai like he’s in Kubo Tite’s Bleach and beats down Kojuro while he’s coughing up blood. Okay. That’s fine. But that’s when Kojuro pulls out his master’s broken sword, parries Hanbei’s swing, and somehow, for no reason at all, a giant dragon laser beam pew-pews out of his sword and punches through Hanbei’s chest. What? Really? Eleven episodes of manipulation, of imprisonment, of all that rage and frustration--and it ends with dragon laser beams.

I have much more to say but forget it, it's too tiring. I’ll just end it by saying that, had the rest of the episode been on par with Yukimura’s section, this would’ve been the best show of 2010, and most likely 2009 as well. But now, it’s just a good show. Perhaps a very good show. But that’s about it. It’s too bad because it had such potential, but, as if this was a show from Bones, the ending just drops the ball.

If you've played the game it's not that strange for all those things that you're complaining to happen. By your logic It's bizarre that Yukimura stopped a giant machine like that with only himself as well - despite from his character development.
Also it's not like Date didn't get any - he grew a bit as well. At least i think during the first season he looked more "green" and acted more like an asshole.
Capturing Kojuro brought some very nice flashback in the anime and showed he can be just as weak if you take away his "right eye" (well not like Yukimura since that guy is just too naive and simple)
The final battle did lack dept but we didn't need it because we had a lot of dept with Yukimura. Date just had to show some action and still he said "As long as i know what i want to protect everything will work out".
Kojuro...well i think this was my favorite battle - i was dying to see some quality yakuza mode. Not striking Hanbei while he was coughing blood was perfectly within character.
Kojuro is all about fair duel and he hates others playing dirty. Striking Hanbei with Date's broken sword was symbolic, because that was the weapon he wanted to convince him that Date was dead and recruit him to his side (i also like the fact that only Kojuro's sword didn't shatter in Date's hands and he used it to defeat Hideyoshi with it).
As for the dragon shooting out from the blade...well in the game Kojuro has a special shooting out electric beams from his sword so it's plausible.

Yeah, I'm pretty cool with it now, after some sleep. I did have unreasonable expectations going in, and all in all it was a good episode.
