I'm glad that the marines had the sense to not give Luffy an astronomically high bounty raise. Sure he's done a lot of unprecedented things, but at the same time they still know he's young and inexperienced on the seas. They know he can be dealt with relatively easy by the monsters in the upper echelon, but the problem is catching him.

Nobody can deal with Luffy easily anymore. It makes no sense that his actions after Enies Lobby only earned him a 100 milion bounty increase when they are far worse than everything else he had done up to that point. With the added knowledge of him being the son of Dragon, sworn Brother of Ace, connected to the pirate king's second in command and possessing Haoshoko haki, his bounty should have exceeded 600 million. And now he actualy has a beef with government.

And i hate Franky's new design! His arms are too large and look kind've awkward, and his legs are too thin. And Usopp's hat makes him look like a character from the Wizard of Oz or something. |

^Personally, I'm more upset, if this bounty increase is real (which hasn’t been confirmed yet), that Oda didn't simply show us the bounty increase 6 weeks ago (which would have been a great send-off). It's kind of stupid if the bounty increased off-screen with no fanfare, especially considering the chapter length responses in the past.

I think a bounty too high would be counterproductive. A more notorious reputation equates to more fear instilled within bounty-hunters, civilians, and pirates. If anything, the SH bounties are paving the way instead of halting them. People won't touch the SH crew because of their reputation.

I don't 450 million (just a guess) bounty doesn't sound bad to me, since its based on his power on the series. Luffy had got the 300 million bounty for destroying Enies lobby since bounty is a function of threat level, the threat level of pirate that can destroy Enies lobby, break in and out of impel down is probably not that fundamentally different.

actually I'm also wondering about Zoro's change in character. He was bored and wanted to go fishing? Previously he was only interested in training, sleeping or drinking.
Regarding bounties. My theory of how the bounties work: Putting aside the knowledge factor, the bounty is decided based on the pirate's estimated power (indicating potential threat) and an amalgamation of the one or 2 more significant things he has done. Therefore even if Luffy has done yet another outrageous thing, the bounty won't increase so much if it isn't that much worse than his previous crimes. For example. A has an orginal bounty of 20, and he commits a relatively more outstanding (compared to the rest of his career) crime that is worth 30 beri. A's new bounty would not be 20 + 30. Instead it should be somewhere around 30 which is what his more significant act is worth. He may get 35 or 40 beri because he has shown a propensity to do such stupid things, but it won't be a simple addition of the bounty. I don't think breaking into impel down and takign down enies lobby is that much different. Most of the upgraded bounty is probably based on a re-evaluation of his abilities rather than the actual deed |
