They already mentioned that they have different forms for different purposes. Unlikely they're going to elaborate on that I think.

Assimilation is something all ELS can do, it isn't related to their forms. As for attacking, well....how do they attack? They gotta have a way to defend themselves some how.

Silly question, but anyway: I'd like to know how the movie started. Not storyline-wise, but quite literally. I don't watch anime movies (I don't watch anime at all) so I wouldn't know how a typical anime movie would begin - was there a OP shown or anything, or did the movie begin like how a regular Hollywood movie would?

The scene showing the lab transport going into an asteroid base, transfering the 2 newly made gn drives , and the incompleted 00 qan[T] starts the movie. The opening (tozasareta sekai) was played after this scene, IIRC

I agree that assimilation is something that all ELS can do, but probably they change forms for ease. For example if it's a tiny bug like alien they're trying to assimilate they can transform into something like a net to catch it. If it is something large they can try using the needle tactics that we saw in the movie.

Have you read One Piece? Some characters like Crocodile can turn into sand and avoid attacks, I would assume the ELS to have the potential to pull that off too for defense.

Fly around and absorb the enemy. That neutralises the threat AND achieve their goal of assimilating.

After some time, they have GN Fields and GN beams to help them. As well as the assimilated Baikal-class ships and GN-X IVs.

Different form likely specializes in different things,m or have different stats. Some may be faster but weaker, some may be more durable but slower. etcetc those stats kind of things.

If the enemy is big (e.g. gadelaza) , they use the gigantic claw ELS to hug and assimilate it. If the enemy is small (e.g. normal MS), they use the needle ELS to assimilate it

What I'm trying to say is this, can the ELS defend themselves and kill an enemy WITHOUT assimilating?
