Anybody notice that Yuki REALLY likes to eat a lot? Either she's intoxicated with the sensation of eating (since Data Entities don't seem to take pleasure from whatever means they normally get their energy by), or else she just needs a lot of energy to fuel her abilities.

See, and this makes me think just the opposite. No matter how many spotlight stealing characters there are, no matter how big their storylines become or how powerful they are, there will always be Haruhi. As Kyon said, "Haruhi is Haruhi and nobody else."
I don't know. For as much as I can't stand her, Haruhi will still be special. She'll be the original one. Haruhi is Haruhi. Does that make sense? EDIT: Not to dwell on this, but I admit I was pretty ticked off when, at the end of the first book, Kyon kept asking himself what Haruhi meant to him and never reached a conclusion. I remember thinking, "You're trying to be introspective? Well, finish it!" But that WAS the epiphany. Haruhi has something intangible about her. You can't put your finger on it; you can't explain why you like her when she's given you so many reasons not to. It just comes down to that: Haruhi is Haruhi. That's all the reason you need.
