Y'know... I virtually forgot this series. Just little tidbits here and there. When I saw a dialog between these two, I was thinking: "Hey, didn't these two... 'do something'?" LOL.

Now, that I think about it... I dunno, man.

Bah. That's fanservice. Or whatever "plot" device you use to appease fans... by keeping characters alive. Then again... to introduce new characters without making any sense is just as bad. Nevertheless, I would love to see them explain "how".

For your information, it's been a nearly defined fact since the series ended that Dio was still alive. It was explained outside the series as well as eluded to in DVD cover art.

As I remember, the story went that Dio, while crashing through the air, was caught by a passing ship, saving his life.

All the new Anime does is give us animated definitive proof of it.

The only proof I had seen/heard of that Dio survived was a picture from an artbook and his voice echoing around a ship, I'd never heard those bits before so I was always skeptical that he really did survive (and I know I wasn't the only one).

The true problem with Last Exile was the fact that it was never complete.

It became quickly apparent by the end that the creator had written a script "longer" than the number of episodes he had to work with. This is seen no more apparent than in the fact that the special edition DVD's contained art sketches and text with further information regarding the ship they found at the end that included the possibility of a plot device that would have had our main characters find a way to visit "our" Earth.

He had a lot of ideas, and obviously wanted to continue them soon after finishing. Of course, as we all know, Gonzo took till now to fulfill their promise of a second series. lol
