I'm pretty sure there are a lot of girls on the Internet too. I know a few other than myself as well.

Beato is the only witch I can think of; she is Yasu, Shannon, and Kanon, which is also what I think of when I read it.

As for the two people, it might have to do with either Shannon and Kanon standing guard, or Battler and Evatrice closing the door to the Golden Land (or whatever that scene was about) at the end.

First of all, thank you for the EP8 50% patch! I've so been looking forward to this!!!


Problem is, all of a sudden going to fullscreen on Umineko mutes ALL sound on my PC, until I leave fullscreen. It also happens with EP7, but I've run EP7 in the past with no issue. I've never seen this happen before. While in fullscreen my receiver tells me that the PC is sending NO audio data to the receiver. Other doujin games work fine, but I don't have any other onscripter based games to try that I am aware of.

Also, if I alt-tab out of the game I can all of a sudden hear the sound, but trying to bring it back up simply mutes my system again...this one really is a stumper...

Any ideas? Thanks!


UPDATE: OK looks like it's not a problem with Umineko or onscripter but rather the GTX 580 or the Auzentech...wish me luck in fixing this!!!

UPDATE 2: Fixed (kind of)...for whatever reason trying to use 7.1 Audio Upscale over HDMI with Umineko in fullscreen is a no go on the Auzentech HTHD, you need to use LPCM 2.0.

Thanks to the Witch Hunt for the very wonderful work they've once again shaped and brought to English readers. I have a single comment about the wording of one of the puzzles.

Regarding the candle puzzle, I carefully examined the wording and from that determined that the situation described was not to be treated as a literal situation. I haven't read the original Japanese, but this is my analysis.

The wording states that "every hour", half of the candle is burned, and "then", when its length its 1cm or less, the flame disappears. There may be ambiguity in Japanese (I could imagine the original grammar having "then" refer to the event of a candle burning rather than refer to the full phrase of half its remaining length doing so), but "then" in that sentence specifically references either "every hour" or "half of the candle's remaining length is burned away". Removing the word "then" does not change the meaning as far as I can tell, but eliminates the lack of clarity; alternatively, changing the phrase to something like "To half its length every hour, the candle burns down" (although awkward) would allow for "then" to refer to an event not occurring on the hour interval.

Before you ask, I did get this one wrong (I decided it might be the case that the candle's flame was 1cm in length and that it went out when there was zero candle left). Knowing the way I think, I would certainly have guessed the answer if I had seen the key sentence unrestricted by any qualifying words such as "then". Although I imagine there are plenty of people who got this question correct and do not think in the same way as me or care about a single word, if there is anyone who has the same perspective as me, they should probably speak up (but people who would cite the lack of realism of a flame only deciding to burn out in hour intervals probably don't need to explain that, as that perspective is widespread).

As for the last one, not it was supposed to be part of the narration, so there is no quotation since it is part of the description. I guess it may require another style, but it isn't supposed to be a spoken dialogue.

Hi guys, I have a problem with your patch. I installed the patch manually putting the folder in Umineko directory (I just replaced the old patch for ep 7), but EP 8 freezes at "choose a slice" part, as showed in the screenshot:

EDIT: ok I've checked with the installer and it works. I just want to point out that installing manually the patch could not work with choices (the sprite of young Ange also doesn't appear).
