The story in Noein is based on the "Copenhagen" interpretation of quantum behavior which raises deep questions about the nature of reality. Schrödinger's cat even makes a brief appearance.

Naturally the science quickly morphs into a more fantastical story about conflict between multiple universes, and the Copenhagen interpretation itself has often been dismissed by other scientists as too fanciful. Nevertheless, some recent theoretical work may give greater credence to this perspective on reality.
