The actual base units of length, time and Weight isn't too bad in Imperial. Where it's really messed up is in more complex units, like force, power, or what really takes the cake, energy. Usually what gets used is BTU (British Thermal Unit), and it bears no relation to any other unit at all, 1 BTU is the amount of energy required to heat 1 pound of water by 1F. So it can't be divided nicely into any other unit and you need to use nasty conversion factors. Horsepower is also awful.
I could tolerate Imperial if every derived unit was based purely on Inches/pounds/seconds, but they're not, and so they're hell to use. My thermodynamics course required use of English units at points, and it was awful. Unit conversion is actually one of the trickiest and most annoying things possible. It's further compounded by the fact that Thermodynamics requires lots of tables, and you could have one table in feet, and a problem in inches, adding 3 or 4 more operations to what was already complicated. /rant |

My data only goes up to post #89. Of the 89 posts only 57 (64.04%) had valid answers I could work with. Of those 57 posts, 68.42% were males, 14.03% were female, and 17.54% were paranoid and listed themselves as "Unspecified". Genders were checked by seeing each posters profile page. I noted the Imperial height stated by each poster. In cases where the poster stated their height in centimeters I noted on the side for later use. I built a matrix that crossreferenced Imperial heights and metric heights. Some were rounded up or down to the nearest whole number. Imperial heights were entered where the poster only stated metric heights. I used the first number the poster stated in cases where they thought the were between different heights. I also only used the height of the poster, none of the other family member heights. Using the numbers produced by the matrix I went to Excel and fed these numbers in to produce the chart shown below. 31.58% of us that responded are over 6' tall. Of remaining 68.42% of the responders who are under 6'-0", 20.51% are female (all 8 that responded), 53.85% are male, and the remianing 15.38% are the paranoid unspecified. Enjoy

I kid I kid. What I do find humorous though is that a lot of people want to be taller yet those who are tall (like myself) wish the opposite..
