Group difficulties by number of winners and top 16 characters on my vote percentage chart:
A: 3 winners, 5 top
E: 3 winners, 3 top
F: 4 winners, 2 top
G: 3 winners, 2 top
C: 2 winners, 2 top
H: 1 winner, 1 top
D: 0 winners, 1 top
B: nothing

So it looks like Homura kept resetting the timeline until she could kill all the opponents herself, and give Madoka an easy group.

The top five characters, Madoka, Homura, Kuroneko, Mami, and Erio, are all in different groups. At least we aren't going to see the championship decided in the early rounds this year.

Quote:
Let me put it this way, if they could ban a group of people so well that it could not be circumvented, every single software company, music company, movie company, publisher, etc would be begging on their knees for such technology. The courts in the US and UK would be forcing companies to use such banning software and the 2ch people would be rich.
Sites like Hulu already block regions. It does an OK-ish job of keeping the casual users out. Similarly, making a Japanese proxy a requirement will stop most of the foreign voters. It doesn't have to be 100% to be successful, and the hardcore types who will bother to get a working proxy are the one's they're least worried about.

Quick guesses on group winners: Homura, Madoka, Ika Musume, Erio, Mami, Kirino, Kuroneko, not sure about B yet, but it would be funny if Charlotte makes it and faces Mami in the finals. The only one of my top 8 finalist picks (before the draw was known) that's in trouble is Victorique, so this is a pretty fair draw overall.

Can Nano take on Shana? (also Nano and the Professor are in the same group...lulz group final would be "Nano, Nano, Nano" "Hakase, Hakase, Hakase")

Another Round 1 loss for Mio? It kind of reminds me of Maria's constant R1 exits despite her strength.
.and that's only part of the problem: the cutest Strike Witch IMO is being used as a sacrifice in this match.

Meanwhile, at another block:

B1-11
Minakami Mai @ Nichijou
Tsuchiura Iroha @ Onii-chan no Koto nanka Zenzen Suki Janain Dakara ne!!
Angelene @ To Aru Majutsu no Index II

B1-12
Sakamoto Mio @ Strike Witches 2
Togame @ Katanagatari
Aioi Yuuko (Yukko) @ Nichijou

Did Mai bribe the people behind Saimoe this year, because her and Yuuko being in the same prelim group and a possible second round showdown is definitely not a coincidence.

More than likely, if that final does happen, we'll probably be hearing the Jan Ken Pon song that they do in the first few episodes somewhere.

Tournament Brackets done.
Round 1 Dates added. Can't go beyond that since they don't even have the schedule beyond August up.
Working on a better logo to finish it off.

brb.

For group B I feel like it'll be a Sora vs Yuuko finale since Nichijou looks stronger than IS overall for me

I'm having an image of Fiore from SMA's Promise of the Rose being the spokesman now: "TEN YEARS!"

FYI, according to the management thread, they are planning the re-drawing after the first rounds, though it is under discussion.

this might be good, as we don't have enough rage inducing matchups yet.

Honestly, if they really want to be 'fair' and let more of the 'crowd favorites' survive longer, only logical way is to redesign the format and do something like group of 9 characters with top 3 advancing. If they merely redo the first round drawing, or just re-draw placement after 1st round, some of current 'mismatch' will disappear, but almost as many new mismatches will appear.

I agree with this or do something similar to ISML or is 288 too much for the ISML format?

ISML started with 64 and it takes 63 days of matches so every girl goes against every other girl...plus a week or more for the finals (more with double elimination as oppose to single elimination, which is new this year). Currently ISML is at 50 girls and takes 49 match days plus single eliminations to complete. With 288 girls...287 match days plus a week for finals....I don't know if anyone could take that, especially if they had breaks between matches since that is almost 10 months of matches with no breaks and matches every day.

Oh yea that'll be bit of a burden ^^;; but I think if J-Saimoe changed up the format I think it should of been like Korean Saimoe or maybe put the girls in certain tiers groups then when they reach to finals the final people can be decided via AST fashion or is that one too unfair as well?
