Your major limiter in gaming is going to be the video card, and as long as you have an ATA100 HDD you should be fine. Assuming you have like a 1.6ghz+

Whoa, you're finished? Did you not sleep for the last few days or something? I'd do that, but unfortunately I have classes . I focused almost all my free time playing HL2 (I haven't touched any anime since Tuesday), and I'm barely halfway through the game at chapter "Sandtraps" (see chapters here), as I just finished "Highway 17". But I'm fairly confident I'll finish the game in the weekend, then it's anime marathon time .

DONE!!! SCC... you are INSANE!!

Lol, last night was my first time playing HL2 since i got it on tuesday. I only played for 30 minutes, and got up to "Red Letter Day"... lol, running away from the cops/soldiers was quite fun.

Well, even though I didn't get Half Life 2 the moment it was released, I did get it relatively soon after - downloaded direct from Steam. I did have a few technical problems with it (or with Steam, to be more precise), but thankfully now it's fine. I've also had a really bad cold all this week so I've not really been able to do very much except sneeze and groan, I've hardly got any work done - Half Life 2 has been my medicine in the meantime.

I think the ending's great too, as well as the final sections of the game. Much better than those of the first, which many people were unhappy with. Still, I won't post any spoilers at all because the narrative, as with the first, is very good and I wouldn't want to ruin anything at all for anyone else.

Ravenholm wasn't scary at all, I'm just surprised I hear everyone thinks it's scary. But then again I love horror games. I beat the game just now, this game is one of the best fps since the first HL but I like the first game alot more. I loved facing the Xen in the first one and was wishing all the badass bosses like the gargantuan and big momma would make their return (and help me kill those striders ). I thought the enemies in HL2 were really boring, compared to the first one, I think because the boss fights were either nonexistent or not very memorable. But the graphics in HL2 are just so much better with improved physics but it was something about the setting that I hated. Now that I'm over with SP, I'm patiently waiting for the mods.

My mistake, you're right. Only 18 in total. I'm also waiting for good mods to come out (Jurassic Rage, and Sven Co-op looks cool). Meanwhile I've been playing a bit of CS: Source, and damn they took the CT shields away! And they put movable barrels everywhere on maps. They freaking block your way, just like your teammates . Anyways, CS: Source has been overall a good experience. I haven't encountered any hacks/cheaters yet, but I'm pretty sure I will soon. But I digress, this probably belongs in the CS thread...

This game is great but its a shame that i never played half life. I only played like the first 20 minutes of it. Anyone want to explain to me why those vargons (sp?, one eyed aliens) are helping the rebels?

So far im at the part where you return to city 17 and get a squad and the game has maintained my interest from the start. The only level i havent enjoyed so much is the car level which was way too long and i hated the gun that was attached to the car. I think i missed the tao cannon or whatever its called. I dont seem to have such a weapon yet even though im furthar than some of you guys.

Great game so far. I give it a 9.5/10.

Did you not notice that Freeman and the g-man have the same eyes?

the g-man is freeman from the future

its just a matter of.... (time)

time travel was hinted at when they "slow teleported"

take that!

The Tau Cannon is the gun that is attached to the car. Not sure if you get to use one that isnt connected, in the first game you did.
