Actually, I searched both 爱 and 喜欢 in the txt Chinese version, and didn't find the confession. However, there was a part where there was this written in Shana's monologue where she was talking about 'that love', and how should she 'choose'. Long time since I haven't read it, so I kinda forgot...

Shakugan no Shana XXII

The story of the Flame-Haired Burning-Eyed (Shana) and the Mystes (Yuuji) finally draws to a close—!
The creation of the Crimson Denizen utopia [Utopian Mirror (Xanadu)] continues, and the agent of the "Snake of the Festival", Sakai Yuuji, cross swords with the "Flame-Haired Burning-Eyed Hunter" Shana.
In this maelstrom, an amber-colored wind emerges.
At the moment Yoshida Kazumi brings forth her feelings to the Treasure Tool [Giralda], "Colorful Flutter" Pheles appears.
In Misaki City, which becomes the stage for a great decisive battle, the war reaches a turning point, and a tremendous upheaval leading to the end.

Pheles, who was called by Yoshida.
Hecate, the sacrifice, Bel-Peol, who wears a snicker on her face, and Sydonay, who defends the sanctuary at all costs.
Khamsin, who slaughters all Denizens who stand in his way, Wilhelmina, who dances atop a castle in the sky, and Margery, who looks up to that place.
And Shana and Yuuji, locked in their own confrontation.

Humans. Denizens. Flame Haze. Where this war would take each one of them has now been decided.
Everything now lies where the end of Shana and Yuuji's confrontation—.

The final volume is now on release!

I'm hoping for a happy ending, Shana and Yuuji together, SoF (lamest name ever) dead or resealed, maybe an Heroic Sacrifice by Alastor.

And actually there's one thing that has been on my mind. After Yuuji's Face Heel Turn, I know that he is the one in control when he fights against Shana to put her out of comission because of the upcoming war, but after that what happens to him? Is he in full control, is SoF controlling/influencing him, is he going mad, what?

I want to know if the final battle is Shana vs [Yuuji possessed by SoF] or Shana vs [Yuuji in control].

That last cover looks so bittersweet.

Maybe im the only one hoping that in the end not EVERYTHING turns out well, I kinda half expecting some form of bittersweet end with either Shana or Yuji gone (or both). Oh well I'll just wait for the actual novel to come out and see what actually happens '

Man, that cover... That's either a "Welcome Back" smile or a "Don't be Sad by my Parting" smile. The pireflies don't help.

I think that's more of a "The End" smile. Not necessarily happy or sad, justa "this is it, period" smile. It's the type of picture that is more of an artwork than one with meaning.

Honestly, if your going to post spoilers just start a new thread or I suggest discussing it somewhere else. I realize that this is a novel thread, yes, but I feel this isn't the place to ruin the story. Discussion more of. Thank you.

To discuss you have to know what happens, otherwise there's not going to be anything to talk about. Since it's not going to be translated any time soon, the only way to know, for those that can't read japanese, is spoilers. If you want to wait for baka tsuki to get to it, or the end of the anime, it's your own right.

Well judging from the very cover of this novel, I'm gonna assume that some bittersweet ending will happen

My THEORY for how Shakugan No Shana will END (For Yuji and Shana):

- Shana & Pheles team up

- S & P defeat SoF Yuji *SoF Yuji exhaustes A LOT of Power of Existence during the battle*

- SoF Yuji is defeated

- Pheles takes Reiji Maigo out and keeps it so she can attempt to get Johan out again & to keep it out of the reach of anyone and everyone

- Pheles leaves

- Shana and Yuji are the same position as that time they both defeated Friagne.
[ Yuji about to disappear, holding his hand out and also holding Azure, Shana grabbing his hand while smiling, etc. ]

- Yuji, somehow being allowed to revert to his original form, is about to disappear since he exhausted a ton of PoE. Shana rushes over to Yuji

- Shana and Yuji talk about the past and whatnot * Cue flashbacks *

The rest is up to the fans to speculate (I actually lost my train of thought as to how the series could end)

Following the beggining of your train of though, i'd say that Pheles has one last moment to say her farewell to Johan, but doesn't keep the Reiji Maigo. I think Johan would be level headed enough to realize that this is the time to finally end it and just move on.

I do think that the author will try somekind of [Yuuji or Shana dies] fakeout though.
