The mangá have a lot of great stories which could have been used.
The chapter which Ika is upset about short was pretty cute and even Chizuru failed to hit her pressure point to make her grow up correctly. What make Ika special is her small size and childish nature, also it's good to know that her voice is cute and NOT annoying. I really hated Pan from Dragon Ball GT which was one of major reasons to never watch that series. I read a lot of the mangá, but it make me wish to buy it even more. Too bad is yet not licensed in my country. Spoiler:
That one holds a inside joke. Last edited by ToshioOtomo; 2011-12-29 at 07:59. |

For Sanae I suppose getting that hug in is completely worth all the beatings. Besides she's slowly building up her durability. Eventually she'll just barely be slowed down . No surprise that the intensity of Sanae's approach creates the difficulty on Ika's side. It's a difficult world for Sanae. Ika being too close to Eiko is bad, but if she isn't then that takes away valuable reasons to get close to her . Totally wanted to ditch her friend when they split up at the festival . Not a bad last episode for the season. Certainly Ika Musume managed to invade the character's lives over these seasons. Hopefully they give another season since it's just quality episodes every time.

I watched clips of the american version, the va of Ika is not impressive. It seemed that she was just reading the script, it don't seemed she was trully serious. it lacked much emotion and Ika herself is pretty emotive. That idea of translating her name is bad, when Ika introduced herself, she sounded like a PowerPuffGirl.
But anyway, Ika Musume ONLY introducted herself to Eiko and not everyone like the dub, it's a error of continuation. Here is a MAD video http://www.veoh.com/watch/v26254224jSfqZjAF of the 1st season with a different theme, I had to remove from youtube. It got blocked in all countries few time after being uploaded. Btw, Takeru's teacher name is "Aiko SAITOU", I wonder if that last name hint something... Although the "Home Alone" episode is a over used idea, it showed more of Ika character development. Despite saying she hate humans and all, she still feel lonely without them. That episode is a mix up of two chapters from the mangá. Several chapters are pretty different from the anime episodes. For example in the original version of "Won't you celebrate?", Sanae was present, were in the anime she was absent. During the walk with Alex in the mangá, Ika was not wearing her summer hat and neither her sandals and don't had the mad dog which was able to evade Ika's tentacles. I found that scene too stupid, with the development which she had, nobody (with the exception of Chizuru) could easilly escape from these fast tentacles. I believe she had improved a lot her abilities, despite the fact she still fear the result of an rematch with Chizuru. Also, Chizuru look like a Nanto Seiken master due her ability to cut with just her bare hands in the anime, in the mangá she had a knife. Ika also reminds of Yadamon due the voice and the tantruns, but Yadamon was a pre-schooler, lol There was a episode which Yadamon thought that a simple hairdryer could work like a weapon, she took it from home and used it as a rope and also to scare some bandits, lol Last edited by ToshioOtomo; 2012-01-06 at 12:09. |

Btw, anyone who read the mangá may saw that Ika Musume herself have no interest in girlXgirl romance. She keep saying it's a mistake in the mangá, so SanaexIka or EikoxIka is just a fan speculation. I don't think romance is really necessary, but I feel that they should add a male friend which appears to have the same age as Kiyomi (can't tell how much aged Ika Musume is, anyway). I suppose that in Sanae's last character development will be her giving up of her obsession over Ika for good, to think about it's pretty much a psychological sickness and not real love. She used to like bizzarre animals during her childhood and Ika Musume is a mix of human and bizzarre animal (squid), that's why she act like that. In the episode "Isn't a heatstroke?", Sanae don't tried to take advantage of Ika Musume's deffenceless state, because she would not be able to deffend herself. And for Sanae, not getting punished by Ika Musume is not fun. Spoiler:
Btw, there is any forum mainly related to Ika Musume out here? |

Picked up at Bureau of Customs a few days ago, the Ika Musume figma that I ordered from CDJapan.
Top of box. Back. Front. Side. The anime doesn't have a sub-forum, so it's probably ok to post pictures of the Ika product on this thread.
