VLC and divx
hi minna~
I've been using VLC alot lately to play most of my vid files, but when it comes to divx... it screws up >_<; It seems like the frame gets stuck as another frame is being played = like a double take. Is there any way to fix this? I've tried using the diff deinterlace options, but just makes it worse. If i play divx on any other player, it does play but keeps stopping then plays and so on.. = screwed up. I have the latest fddshow installed. Last edited by jinzen; 2004-12-12 at 20:37. |

Sounds like a corrupted divx file but let's check.
You have a few options. 1. Grab it in BT again to see if the file is complete. 2. Check the CRC with the fs group. 3. Download gspot and run it to check the file integrity and make sure it's actually divx. Do you have divx installed with ffdshow? If yes, uninstall divx. Ffdshow will take care of this. Get the latest ffdshow_alpha (october). It could be that the avi is encoded with the latest divx. Both of which should not cause the problem since I have both installed and it works fine. Make sure ffdshow configuration has divx assocated as the default otherwise if you have both divx and ffdshow installed, divx codec will be used.. Another issue could be that your system is too slow. |

The thing is... the file(s) i'm trying to play worked PERFECTLY before i got rid of some ad/spyware (stupid dad >_>) and everything i try to do to get my files to work again, nothing works ;_; Well, I've never been able to play divx on VLC before that little event. I usually play vids on zoomplayer. Thats screwed up tho and i've tried all the other players. |

Try this
1. Uninstall all codecs. (divx, ffdshow, nemo, etc) 2. ZoomPlayer - set to default (this will delete all references to it on your system. --> if you delete the menu item, it's located at: C:\Program Files\Zoom Player\defaultsettings.exe) 3. Install ffdshow_alpha 4. Run Zoomplayer and try playing. If it doesn't play, please run highjackthis and post the logs here. It may be that there's something still interfering with your system. VLC and Zoom should be able to play with the above instructions. |

You still have adware on your machine. One is very nasty. I take it that you are using Kaaza? The software.exe (worm_spybot.b) spyware is the culprit.
SearchBar Cash Toolbar C:\DOCUME~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\searchbarcash.exe (Adware) WORM_SPYBOT.B (Steal Windows cached passwords Activate a keylogger remotely Act as Hyper Text Transfer Protocol (HTTP) Web page server Open and close CD-ROM tray Scan ports Download file(s) Perform Denial of Service (DoS) attack against other systems List and terminate running processes List system information Browse files on the compromised system Execute a file remotely) Also, since you are using a Compaq/HP TabletPC, I would recommend you get more RAM. You need at least 512MB RAM. The Video RAM is shared with your normal RAM. If the system came with the Celeron processor, make sure you turn off other processes to reduce processor load. |
