@ Demi - It's an arms race. They're saying "We can't use these now, but if we did we would kick your ass to next tuesday".
@ Senpai - If they just sit down and talk about it, they'd realize both genders were suffering.

Most tourneys are, but for some reason, I can see them trying to have a woman spar against a man in those 'new times', expecting something grand and wonderful to happen...
Probably moreso in just one-on-one duels outside of a tournament unless they are trying to hype up something. I know Houki is a national-lvl champion/competitor in her age group...but the LN or anything else doesn't go into more BG info than that, eh... And I think that a piloted IS was forbidden from being weaponized, but an unmanned IS is something else entirely. And right now, many major players have a piece of the pie in the cores that they are trying to R-Engineer to figure out how they work. It's only a matter of time before they do become weaponized...its almost impossible not too. It's like giving a cookie jar to a kid but telling him not to open it. ...better odds to tell the shark NOT to bite you...

@ Box - Of course, no one wants a world war in IS. It seems to take place in the future (I don't consider the Obama joke canon) so things have probably changed.
@ Tempest - This is a harem manga. The day IS becomes weaponized is the day I eat my shorts.

The whole thought of having IS, developing IS but having no real use for IS is frustrating. Ofcourse if this was solely an arms race, anti-IS weaponry won't be too far behind. So the only thing that would give IS an advantage is their mobility, which can be rendered moot by a carpet bombing with armaments that can cut through their shields.
The IS is advanced tech, sure. It's being properly weaponized and somewhat commercialized as a sporting(gladiatorial) equipment(that no conventional method can stop if the pilot decides to cut loose), okay. But didn't we make this for space? |

@ Eras
Silvers Gospel is a step, and frankly, Tabane's trolling actually saves the world, or at least delaying the inevitable lensman arms race. It might happen eventually, either Yuzuru is pissed off and broke his restraint and/or gain his full strength, just look at Medaka Box @ Demi Simply because DESPITE I.S. being gamebreaker stuff in warfare, space is big, bigger than they can afford with minuscule budget.

@ Demi - Considering the Alaska treaty, it's not that far fetched to assume that some people did cut loose with the IS and started rampaging around. Besides, you get giant robots that people would pay a crapload of money to watch fight, why not use them for tournaments and bolster the economy?
Side note - How so? They attack people for their IS' and use it for themselves. @ Senpai - There are those who fall through the cracks and end up worse. Some women took the gender reversal to the extreme and some developed hatred for the IS.

We didn't get the IS because we advanced our technology, we advanced our technology because we got the IS.
Rather than giving a child cookies, it's more like giving Homo Erectus a flashlight, simply giving him that flashlight will force him to advance it but since the nature of this technology is naturally beyond him, he still has no idea why it was made in the first place, since surely people could simply stick to using torches, is what he's thinking.

considering the IS are now being used by only 2 kinds of people. Military and military affiliated companies which are improving the weaponization of IS, and the students in ISA who are basically lab animals for running test versions of said weapons.
Phantom Task intervenes in both of these which will cause halt in IS tech development. If Tabane is involved in PT, it would probably because she doesn't like how people are handling her creations. So PT would be a band of misfits who are terrorizing the world and keeping IS development from progressing. Considering the current named members of PT, this idea is scraped because they seriously act like bad guys being all violent and stuff. One can also glean that they may just be trying to recollect all of the IS cores or monopolize IS tech for themselves in preparation for a massive operation. |

@ Demi - They tried to kill Ichika and Tatenashi. They attacked the US military at their base and stole one of their units. M attacked Ichika at his house and tried to shoot him. All points saying they're NOT the good guys here.

That's the point, how is the caveman even supposed to understand the flashlight? To him it's no different from magic, by his knowledge you need fire to create a torch, and yet it glowed without any visible flame. The same goes for how the IS seems to break the laws of physics beyond belief, and yet we're still able to make weapons for it? How is that possible? Is that not like a caveman being able to advance a flashlight?
Naturally the first thing would be to advance his own knowledge first, but if a caveman does not have the capacity to do so, then the answer is simple--he simply needs to evolve beyond a caveman, then he can comprehend the flashlight.

@eras: PT aren't good guys. I'm saying they're like the gundam thrones of gundam 00. The intention is supposed to be good but the means and the members... not so good. Just a theory I have.
For such a group normally you'd look for someone who is both skilled AND morally proper. However considering the person in charge of PT, we can assume they didn't give a rat's ass about morally proper and just took whoever could hold a weapon and survive a 100 man battle royal to the death. ---------------------------- Science is a systematic body of knowledge. Technology is merely that knowledge applied. Advancements are made from nothing because humans took the time to analyze and study phenomena which they soon understood and made sure to apply in controlled forms. Giving a human an advanced technology would just be the same. He will analyze it, study it, isolate phenomena and recreate controlled variants. IS advancements aren't merely because the IS is advanced tech but more on that IS gives new insight to what is currently available. Normal people who can't tell the difference between an electron and proton will surely call the technology, magic. But to people who think and try to understand, it's little more than a knew toy to break down. |

Even their goal isn't good. Remember that they've been around since world war 2 and that they've ben explicitly described as doing immoral things for immoral reasons. No way around it, they're the antagonists.
Side note - I love the fact that we're discussing Human evolution on a harem novel. @ Senpai - Do bullets pass through or lodge into a persons skin?
