The Possibility of a Private Internet.

With SOPA, PIPA and ACTA looming over the horizon, one can't help but feel that the end of freedom in the internet is here. Gone will be the days of blogging about our favorite media. Gone also will be the source of this forums' topics. And every move we make will be watched by millions of eyes, and a slight wrong move will most likely end us all in jail.

So I was drinking rum last night while trying to think of an idea that will let the freedom of the internet continue alongside such laws.

Then I come up with one when Iron Man 2 started on Star Movies: A private network!

The idea I thought up goes like this: IT companies could create "another" internet. One that doesn't run and link to today's public networks. These private networks work like the same. They will not allow any government, banks or branches of the government to subscribe to it. IT companies will not be liable to anything inside the network and since they're private, is not required to comply with SOPA, PIPA or ACTA.

You've pretty much described the "speak-easy" bars from the Prohibition.

The speakeasy bars are illegal. Private networks aren't.
