^swot was cancelled, thus had to have a ridiculous ending. Psyren's a good example as way, although the author really messed up the pacing, he was aiming for a 1K chapter serialization or smth
And don't get me wrong, this series is still 100000000000000000000000000x better than KNiMShiT. Although i still rage about the whole memory wipe thing~

I've enjoyed this manga and I think it could have held a number more adventures. Even out of the mirror.

People like to complain about this author's pacing and backing himself into corners, how this or that story of his was bad too, whatever. I like his art immensely and his stories are charming. The protagonists are neither super human, nor weak kneed losers, just regular kids with regular problems tossed into odd situations. I'm sorry to see this title go as I could have watched these characters go through their trials for quite a while and been happy, but oh well. I guess I'm becoming a geezer. After reading Manga and watching Anime for over 35 years now, I don't mind slower pacing and character development. Wiz-bang is fine, but I'm ok with the slow burn.

I'll miss these chara, but there are many Manga in the sea. I'll find another.

Whew, another manga ending already.

I actually didn't mind this ending too much. With the initial premise of the story, I didn't feel as if it could have been dragged on for hundreds of chapters. Though I don't think it's the best work Kano Yasuhiro has made, it was enjoyable.

Looking forward to the epilogue, and then his (hopefully) future series.

so it's true that this mangaka is so stupid that he hasn't learned that his readers want to have a satisfactory "happy ending"..he has only made sucky bittersweet stupid endings..he just can't learn from his past mistakes

I guess there is a reason why his work always got cancelled. He is really terrible when it comes to story-telling.

I think the author's next project will be cooking romance since most cooking manga are freaking long.

I think series like Toriko will reach 500+ chapters because it's cooking (or ingredient hunting) + battle + JUMP manga.

BTW, this series shows sign of having short lifespan from its premise centers around the magical mirror already.

Though you could have another knd of mirror that gives back memories, and the MC could go on a quest for it.

There's never short lifespan premise, I think. In Naruto, you have like 500 chapters about killing a brother.

In something like Weekly Shounen Jump, it's a necessity to be able to know the advantages, disadvantages, and potential of the story you're writing. Or else you end up...well, with a mess like this one. So yes, there very well could be a short lifespan premise, and I'm sure if I did a quick search I'd find a few right away.

Extending something like this with an arc like you're proposing is one of the fastest ways to cancellation ever. The cons to that approach FAR outweigh the pros. Even with a premise as shabby as this story's, there's no way an arc like that would hold.

Long story short, and like LeaD had said before; this author (and many others) could use a Shujin.

Yeah, you're very right. The MC's main objective and the whole plot of these long running-manga are:

Naruto - Become a hokage

One Piece - Become a pirate king

Bleach - Protect allies (even if he has no freaking idea about the whole thing why there are enemies in the first place, just fight and fight mindlessly)

Negima - Finding daddy

Reborn - I don't want to be a don but I have to

To-Love-Ru - Confess his feeling to the girl he likes

And when we look at some sereis:

Gantz - WTF!?

D-gray Man - Beat The Earl, then everyone happens to be jerks except for his friend, then...

Rosario Vampire - Moka-chan, then what the heck?
